Just looking at the New XR1200 (that is not domestically available in the US) And lusting after it. Does anyone else think that this bike continues the Tube frame alternative to the XB or 1125R? I have the room in my garage for one more bike....This might be it

An XR influenced Sportster that is available in the EU but not in the home of the XR. HD, what the hell?

This bike, if available here at the time, would have had a really good chance coming home w/me instead of my '07 XB9R.

I do not believe it is available in Europe and I'd be willing to bet you won't see it in the USA . . . I could be wrong.

Reroute the exhaust under the bike or under the seat and they may have something.

This bike is disgusting,IMO.
I saw it in reality already. The look really sucks!
On the MoCo´s promo webside it is said to be launched in spring 2008 only in Europe,Afrika and the Middle East.

I kinda like it... but if it turns out it isn't as fast or as good handling as my 8 year old M2, what's the point?

Storz has an exhaust that's very similar (my GM has one on his Nightster, very cool system). I think HD would do better to offer the tail section as P&A if they want to get into the "sporting bike" category.

My bet is, they don't want to do it and "compete" with their other product, Buell.

Well, Court says it won't happen.....

I remember setting up a 1200 Sportster in the Spring, New in the crate, and part of the afterbirth (Packaging materials removed at setup) was the clutch cable Part number tag. It said specifically, the part number, and then under that "XL1200/XR1200".

So, they decided not to sell it?

HD/Deutschland claims an MSRP of 10,990 Euro's. They have a neat little minisite on the bike, and even a picture of one pulling a wheelie (Das Wheelie).

That bike is $16,109.14, plus a plane ticket, licensing, passport, etc....

Stubbed toes?!? How did politically correct get into Motorcyclin? Should be a cost/sale/market analysis. Hurt feelings are best left to the guys that have to come in second place. (I suppose in a kindler gentler world we would all just get along)

Blacked out VRods? Huh? Like, the VRSCDX Night Rod Special? They're building those. Sloooowly, but they exist. I have six coming in phase three; three standard and three with ABS. Sold the only three they sent us last year as fast as they could come through the doors, too.

Oh, and sorry to pick on you about Homecoming, Hank. Didn't realize we didn't let you guys in the great white north see all that private information ;)

I suppose these will be disassembled and scrapped right next to the dirt 450's... : | Good thing the bikes are only soulless conglomeration of metal and machinery. Seeing a slow drain off the creative vs. production side of the bikes. bezstelnostnaya bezbendyxa v ygley. English words escape me.

What does the XR1200 weigh?

If it is as heavy as it looks, it might be a disappointment for anyone who has ever ridden a Buell.

The stock H-D XL 1200R which has a published dry weight of 557 lbs.
Our completed XR1200 project bike weighs in at just 474 lbs. dry. That’s a whopping 83 lbs. less!

This gleaned from the Storz site Skntpig posted. Even at 474 it's more than my '99 X1's posted dry weight of 440.

Anyone ever had their bike weighed? Just curious as to where you did it and how. Guess I could ride out to the landfill and pull up on their scales.

Just roll the front wheel onto a bathroom scale, record, and repeat for rear wheel.
Assuming both wheels are attached to the motorcycle, adding the front and rear weight values will tell you how much your motorcycle weighs, and can even tell you the weight bias.

You could also lift the bike, set it down on clean paper, and using the tire pressure, the tire "footprint" area, and some basic math, derive the weight semiaccurately. While you're lifting the bike, dangling the vehicle in some different axes would be useful in determining the center of gravity.

Every time I Google XR Harley,or anything along those lines, I get a ton of pics of this abortion. Why doesn`t Harley give the public,or some of us what we`re really after-XR type heads, dual carbs, forward swept exhaust pipes or an evo sporty with those parts and not a poor, bolt on immitation.Let them sell it to the Europeans-no one around here that I know wants any of this self-immitating crap anyway.I know,I know,Mert lawill,blah,blah,blah...hey,when you make 10 bikes a year,or whatever,I can understand and respect that-it`s gonna cost you.But given the public interest you`d think someone in sleepy, old Millwaukee,or where ever, would get an inkling, maybe his drafting pencil would move a little quicker and his slide rule would heat up with with a little extra activity or something.I often wonder whose in charge of slapping down new ideas there and what they tell the potential innovator,"NO,NO,NO,remember,we only cater to the biker culture here. It`s part of the American Mystique.Tamper with that and you tamper with the bottom line,Mister!Don`t,for heaven`s sake follow that Buell fellow, unless your willing to start your own company, then, your`re on your own."

I like it but I think it would be more competition for the VRod than with anything Buell is making. It'd be nice if they got the power up to XB specs (103hp)
StreetRod 115hp 620lb
XR1200 90+hp 474lb
It would handle a lot better than other power cruisers but not as good as a buell of course.

looks like I will have to go heavy or stay home if I want a new bike from H-D this year. Only other bike that they are building that interests me at all is the FXDF. 670 lbs of full figured plumpness to push into a harsh lean angle. Put the mid pegs on it, and ride it like the FXDX they quit building. Pity, would have been nice to see the XR from Milwaukee nonetheless.

Speaking of harsh lean angles have you all seen this.

I don't know whether to pity the fool or just be glad he's off the road.

Makes you chuckle none the less.

$3000 a second, OUCH!

My local SW FLA dealer has an orange and black 93 xr 1200 with a "storz like" conversion for sale. It looks pretty good, although the motor was painted black and might need to be repainted. They said it was traded blown up and just replaced the bottom and top end. I think he said it was between $6,000-$7,000. PM me if interested I can get specifics and contact info for the dealer as well as pics.

There was a production run of 25 of those XR1200's, two of them left our area bound for california, from a private wholesaler that nabbed a pair from the UK. He sold them site unseen, unridden for 18k each. Looks like somebody is enjoying them in the light of day. (Now if I could just get one of those dirt Buell Muells )
