It's not a bolt-on - you'll need to do some cutting / welding on the rear subsection of your frame. On the other hand, the earlier, narrow M2 tail/seat will fit (with the small tank) without alteration.

What is need to be cut and welded in order to make this work? Is there a write up somewhere mabye?

I found a couple of threads on it in the Knowledge Vault, the first with pictures of the actual conversion:

There's an S1 tail on eBay right now with no bids (or seat).

Who says it's not comfy ?

Don't ask Spidey who rode here from MI for Homecoming on an S1 seat ... or myself, who's done 450 miles in one day on my S1 ...

But then again .. we may just be crazy ...

Ping Spidey ... his Spiderman bike used to be an M2 ....

ok, let me rephrase that... I never found the s1 seat to be as comfortable as the m2. But then again, im also thinking about putting a s1 tail on my bike.

My S1W was a twin tail with the stock seat. It was an ass-buster, so I was at the store one day and got to looking at gel seat cushions for mountain bikes. I bought one and strapped it on my bike. It was worth another 100 miles or so before I had to get off. This was the only way that I could stand to ride a whole tank of gas through my bike in one session. That is, until I bought a corbin...

Wusses

With a S1 tank you will have to stop every 100 miles for gas anyway...

Allow me to make a rebuttal. If I stayed out of the gas, I could stretch almost 250 miles to a tank of gas on my S1W. My engine/state of tune was painfully stock in every way. With a stock twin tail seat, the bike was nothing short of a 101hp wedgie. Even the passenger seat sucked. After only 40 miles down the road, my wife was BEGGING me to stop so she could get off. These seats were forged in the fiery pits of Hell by minions of Satan.

HAHAHAHA ...

That is sooo true ...

But I wouldn't trade the skinny tank on the S1 ... it belongs on that bike .....

As far as the seat - I agree with Crash -- add a Corbin .. both of my bikes have one .. and the one on my S1 is smoother/slippery-er ? than the stocker and the Corbin on my M2 .. makes getting that extra hang off the bike REAL easy .. shift weight, drop in .. and whoosh .. slide all the way over .. beautiful thing !

My M2 on the other hand .. that bike is just fat .. (the Corbin seat, inverted (fatter) forks and S3 fender also make it fat ... the big tank belongs on that bike ..
