Here it is my bike has been running a V&H ss2r slip on for about 7000 miles, it has no guts in it since about 4500 miles. I like it loud but it sounds like hell, and has now rattled its self apart, I have sank a bunch of self tapers into it to get me by untill i get something new. I have been trying to research what pipe will suit me best, I want optimum horsepower and i like em loud even if i have to push my bike to the end of the street so I dont upset the neighbors. From what i have gained on here the force is the loudest but i may loose a couple horsepower, as i have also found it does not seem that there are that many pipes available for my bike, can i still get a Buell race pipe? header and all? If it helps any my supporting mods are x1 cams forcewinder intake and soon to be a 42 mm mikuni.thank fellow buellers

Sounds like the D&D Full Race System is what you are after...

Al @ American Sport Bike can set you up...

Nice nad loud, good tone, crackles when letting off/downshifting...

GREAT midrange...

This is one of my favorite mods tied with the 1250.. could feel a difference in the meat, and way up top, from a regular header and D&D Slip-on..

My 2 cents...

"...can i still get a Buell race pipe? header and all?"

I was able to find a complete M2 race kit for my M2 about a year and a half ago at Sporttwin. Check around... I heard complete race kits were being sold for $550 for a while... that's a screaming deal.

They come up on E-bay ALL THE TIME lately for the M2 ... header is usually listed separate from the can ... but there also has been at least 5 that were sold on E-bay already this year as a kit ... it's the older pre-99 ones that are harder to find.

The full D&D system would be a nice find as well ... not sure if they are available anymore though... I know the D&D slip-on is available at American Sport Bike for both the stock header and the race header ..

The race header for 99-02 X1's and S3's will work on a 99-02 M2 also, the only difference is the fitting for the O2 sensor in one of the primaries. You'll have to plug it, but it'll work.

I personally found the race header to be the only component out of the entire race kit that was a 'must have'... all the rest you can get by without.

Hey Tat you are the man! I was wondering who the heck would have a D&D slip on for the race header. (my stock one is lost. )I have the ceremic race headers, and race can, would love to keep the header, but the can has seen its fair share of miles and abuse. (living on a long gravel/dirt lane has its downside) Prior has a full system D&D on his M-2, 42mm Mik., eposed oval aircleaner,it sounds and runs incredible.

DJ you are right the header is a must have! I found the key to plugging it up was just to take an O2 sensor and screw it in there. I had a pain with all the different plugs I tried in it, the actual sensor has not let me down yet

it looked to me by looking at the American Sport Bike site that the D&D full exhaust was two seperate pipes that go into the can, is it so? what kind of hp increases have people seen over just a slip on.

From what I have heard you can't go wrong with the D&D full system .. I guess it makes better power than the slip-on(not sure if it's a ton more though) .. Not sure of comparison between stock header/race header with the slip-on though .. it is a tad on the loud side though ... (which I dig)

I am leaning to the race header with D&D slip-on when finances will allow it for my S1..

The D&D is actually 4 parts...

each individual header...

a y/h pipe(yes, it has a Y and an H

then the can...

I just noticed that they have the D&D available in fake TI color and polished, they provide a pic of the TI model does anyone have the pic of a polished D&D?

You can always modify any number of mufflers to work with a race header, just be very careful how you mount it.

Here's a V&H SS2R modified to fit a Buell race header... it had to have the front elbow cut off and 2 1/8" trimmed from its length.

I test fitted the SS race muffler, but never liked it. I never even started the bike with it on... just put it back in the box and modified the old V&H I already had.

It is also possible to get a performance muffler from "Drummer" for a tuber. Kevin was doing these before he went commercial with the XB stuff.Give him a call.....Charlie
