Hello everyone,
I am so glad I ran across this site. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one crazy about my bike.

Here is the problem. I have not started it in about a month. It turns over, but doesnt fire.

One thing I noticed is that I used to hear something(I believe the fuel injection) turn on when I turned the key. Now I dont hear anything.

Any sugestions, I was hoping to ride it down to Orlando from Jacksonville this weekend.

Hopefully it's something super easy! Have you checked your relays and fuses? Sometimes the battery cables get a little fussy, make sure they are good and tight.

you should hear fuel pump load up when key is tuned on. I'd check fuses first.

I don't hear anything when I turn the key

Any one know what fuse to check. I lost my trusty Manual on my move to Fl. from RI.

I checked all the fuses and they all check good. Some of the connections were a little crappy, cleaned the contacts put them back and still don't hear the fuel pump when I turn the key.

Check for corrosion on the little three prong connector that leads into the left rear of the tank.

Check for corrosion in your fuse block under the seat. Unplug, WD40 and plug them back in.

I get that from time to time.

Found a four prong connector at the left rear of the tank. Unplugged and plugged back in, still no go.

I may have to wait until tomorrow. Right now I am in the parking lot of my apt using my cell phone for a light.

I will pick up some WD40 and a wire brush tomorrow when I get off at noon.

I'm not sure if this is related but my oil light stays on. Checked oil and it seems ok.

If anyone else has any other suggestions. Please let me know.

Oil light wont go off till motor spools up to make pressure. You should hear a slight whine of the fuel pump when you turn the key to start position. Is your run button stuck in the off position? Try working it back and forth a few times. If its been in the weather it may be corroded too.

I've tried moving the run button back and forth also. I really think it is just a bad connection somewhere. Some of my leads are really corroded in the fuse box. Although when I was checking the fuses, I didn't see anything for the fuel system. There was the usual(Lights, Instrument, etc....)
If it was a fuse...wouldn't something else be effected.

I was really looking forward to this trip.
It's funny, my girlfriend is going and she hates riding on the back for any length of time. So I just told her to take her car, I'll meet her there. I don't think she liked that too much.

When you flip the run switch on does the check engine light come on for a few seconds? If not, the problem may be with that switch. The key just turns on lights and accessory power. The run switch powers up the ECM and fuel pump. The check engine light comes on for a few seconds every time the ECM is powered up so if it doesn't light the problem is probably with the switch.

I agree, check for the engine light. That should tell you that your ecu is coming on.

Are you guys sure that I should be hearing the fuel pump on EVERY start up? I have been having some issues with my S3 occasionally running out of power at about 4000 RPM -- like it's fuel starved -- do you think maybe the fuel pump is running only intermittently -- I don't think I have heard the pump come on in a while -- Bneck

Everytime. Every time you turn it on and flip the run switch on you should hear a faint humming/buzzing coming from the fuel cell. You should also be able to hear the relay click.
I really want to hear the outcome when you find it, please post it up, I'm perplexed
