You can get the fan at your local dealer, no need to wish. I'm sure if you thought it would do anything, riding 600 miles a week, you'd already have it. Sounds odd to recommend something you don't have yourself. BTW, it blows air BETWEEN the cylinders not around them. I can't seem to find any Midol, can you spare some?

I can't forget about Klaus's in Frankfort, just outside of the city, not too far from Matteson. Just a little pub in a strip mall, but oh, the food. It's mostly a German menu, but the specials are all over the map. Lot's of draught beer on tap, too. It's a pub, but it's really kid friendly. I was surprised at all the patrons watching out for children that didn't belong to them.

I remember the place really well for two reasons: I moved over so a guy could sit with his wife at the bar and he bought all my drinks that evening. He and his wife were great company. Another time, I bumped into a guy walking out and noticed he had a helmet... the only bike in the parking lot was a Buell (an M2!) so I assumed it was his. We spent a half hour in the parking lot kibbitzing about bikes and the local talent.

Great place.

How could I forget this one... there is a place in Matteson that has two names: it's called Carlo's for lunch, and Lorenzetti's for supper. The owner's name is Carlo Lorenzetti... he just changes the name for lunch and supper. I thought it was way cool.

Be careful eating at the bar, their spread is so large, no one can sit next to you without an extra space between you. They bring out these big fabricated trays so you get extra eating room. If you order the eggplant parmesian, make sure someone is with you, because you can't eat it all. Their red sauce (they called it a gravy) is rich and hearty with just enough sweetness to take away the tomato's acidity. Best gravy in town, even better than I remember Gianatti's.

The wine list was so extensive that it was impossible to fathom. I got a moderately priced Italian and was pleasantly surprised... I can't remember the name, but it was the last selection on the wine list and cost less than $16.

Pretty good place for the area, but it would be spectacular anywhere else.

However... I really don't care for any of that deep-dish Chicago style pizza. The best pizza I ever had in Chicago was actually at a Greek diner. I wish I could remember the name... mmm, but it was real close to the Thrallcar manufacturing facility in Chicago Heights. Seems like a lot of the lunch diners in the area were Greek... a very good thing.

The Holiday Inn in Matteson was something else. They had a piano bar with a great player who would, get this... play the trumpet and piano at the same time! You wouldn't believe how many Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs need a piano and trumpet. They guy was really talented and entertaining, but the last time I was there, he said the management made him stop because it was so unusual and gave the place a carival like atmosphere (it kind of did, but in a good way).

I'm sure he's still there. He was making a killing in tips and would eat at the happy hour buffet every day.

Never liked any of those touristy places, like on the pier. I ate at a place that was famous for being outrageously rude... Dirty Bobs or something like that, and the food wasn't that good (it was OK, just don't expect good barbecue there). The service was good, but the waiters were over the top being rude (it was only an act, but it got tiring after an hour). What made up for it was the live music. Just two guys with acoustic guitars, but man could they sing and play (I think I heard the place went out of business, but I'd have never gone back anyway).

That's the thing about Chicago; whether it's a polka band doing the Chicken Dance (at the place with all the Lugers on the wall) or open mic night at a hole-in-the-wall blues bar, Chicago's live music is some of the best in the US.

I met a really beautiful girl named Silesia at one of those hole-in-the-wall blues bars. She was apparently the local hottie that everyone was in love with and I couldn't blame them. We made eye contact and she smiled the kind of smile a man never forgets. It was really loud in the bar, but I was able to make a little small talk... but I never got her number, or ever saw her again. A guy I work with took me there, and I'll be damned if I can remember the name or where it was. I remember the entrance was half way buried under the level of the sidewalk and the door was literally a hole in a brick wall. The room was long and narrow with a bandstand at the end and a bar that ran the full length of one side.

Silesia...I really love that name. I'll never forget her face.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love it.

Oh yeah, cooling fan...

I'd guess (because I don't have an X1 and I don't have experience with a fan on an X1) that the fan isn't really necessary, and most likely won't be noticable, but it deffinately isn't going to hurt anything, and if it'll give you more peace of mind, then go for it!

What a f-ing a55hat. Take your incredible X1 knowledge and write a book. Yeah X1s are real special compared to other tubers. Douch-bag you don't think I read the other posts? It was explained already about cooling the intake you idiot. I simply stated a fan would be great to push air around the cylinders. I'm not the one calling everyone here names while hiding and crying behind my keyboard. Take your meds before you cramp somemore. Freaking warlizard, what the hell does that mean? You have a gecko in your pocket all ready to piss and moan? Arrgh, this gets me pissed!

Boy, someone must be having a tiff w/ their life partner. Look Mary, I haven't called anyone anything. Only one name calling is you, though now I will join you. I also said nothing about an X1 being "special" or better or anything.I never claimed any "special" knowledge, just personal experience. Obviously you HAVEN"T read the other posts or you would know this. I merely said that as an X1 owner, I don't think fan is necessary. Again, reading prior posts as you have claimed-you would know this. DJ and I had a minor disagreement, I don't believe either one of us asked you to mediate or comment. Go get a nice cushy donut pillow and an ice pack and maybe you'll feel better. BTW-is your bike pink?

Where you at mouth-off watching Brokeback for the 100th time? Be careful with that rubber fist! You may want to invest in a rear set, take some pressure off your business end. Maybe if you ask nice your partner will let you pitch for awhile?

Buellers:

Have had a "FAN" on my 97 S3T ever since(1999 "i" think) they came out for TUBE FRAME Models ...

Part Number is the BMC "BUELLschitte" numbering system ... When BMC used the
MOTHER SHIPS Numbering System you could tell when the part came out and up-dates on the part ...

What the "FAN" does for you is: the intake manifold seals last longer, saves you money, and loss of Ride time ...

LaFayette,

Could you post a photo? I live in SW Florida too and I sometimes worry about the heat buildup in slow traffic on my S3T. Also, any advice on how to get one, ie part number, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Can you guys stay on topic and quit the mud slinging? You are free to state your opinion about an XB fan on a tuber, but the personal attacks need to stop now. We as custodians thank you for your cooperation.

I'm sorry Kristi... I think I started the whole thing, but by the time I got out, it had a life of its own.

Everyone should listen to Kristi. Believe me, she's better than we are... and we proved it.

Hey Kristi, I just posted my personal opinion on the fan and apparently ruffled some feathers in doing so. For the most part it was civil and had run it's course, then a third party got involved and the mud was flying. I apologize for being part of it. Jim

Just a waterproof switch, located in a existing hole in the fairing mount just below the keyswitch. I only use it in traffic jams, which I seem to find all too many times lately here in Michigan.
