Trying to save some cash and pull off the front rim for tire replacement. And install some new brake pads.

Could somebody post the torque specs for the front axle nut and if it matter any the brake caliper??

also curious about what the manual calls for front axle removal. Anything special I should note? like anti sieze, locktite, etc etc.--- other than remove nut -pull axle out. Push axle in - tighten axle nut to specs

Apply LOCTITE ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT to axle.


Apply LOCTITE THREADLOCKER 242
(blue) to axle nut. Install washer (2) and axle nut (1) (metric) over threaded end of axle. Insert screwdriver or steel rod through hole in axle on right side of vehicle. While holding axle stationary, tighten axle nut to 48-63 ft-lbs
(65.1-71.9 Nm).

6. See Figure 2-5. Tighten the four front axle pinch screws (2) (metric) to 13-15 ft-lbs (17.6-20.3 Nm). What locktite product is needed on these? antisieze or threadlocker?


For the brakes: also not sure what locktite product to use on the brake bolts, antisieze or threadlocker? just want to be safe and do it correct.

4. Install center caliper bolt (3) and spacer (16). Tighten center caliper bolt to 11-13 ft-lbs (14.9-17.6 Nm).

See Figure 2-20. Tighten both caliper mounting bolts (4) to 30-33 ft-lbs (40.7-44.7 Nm).

IIRC loctite is not called for or God forbid I have been doing it wrong for a while

I know you can get by without using loctite compounds on most items.

But ever since I installed a lightweight flywheel that had pressed in pins -- they had backed out and almost destroyed a tranny. Had they used the correct loctite pressed in compound it would have prevented possible $$$$ damage and headache.

So I try a do it "the correct way"
