As I keep saying .. can't leave it alone ..

As much as I like both track days, and back country twisties .. I do also enjoy drag racing ..

Some will remember when I picked up wheelie bars .. well - I added the strut and front straps ..

Last Thursday, the Force was no longer with me .. it cracked almost all the way around the front header pipe right under the carb on my 3rd run at the strip ..(I think my knee and the ground helped when I crashed 2 weeks ago) Fine by me - it was robbing my bike of power anyway .. I now have a race header on that hasn't been used on any bike (sitting on a shelf as someone's spare) .. all I need is a muffler ..

When I replaced the header, I went ahead and set the bike up for the drag strip since it will probably not be ready with a full exhaust until the next bike night at the strip .. it only takes 15 minutes to get it back to road ready ..

My replacement parts are on order for my bar end turn signals and mirror that got wrecked on my crash 2 weeks ago .. also buffed out 95% of the evidence that I went down .. took the bars off the M2 crossroads bars I had on the shelf and bolted them to the top plate on the S1 since the originals got wrecked and bent as well .. also bent back the headlight and flyscreen mounts .. can't even tell I crashed aside from the missing turns and mirrors ..

Anywho ... here's a couple shots all ready for the strip ... (I may remove the headlight and put the S1 race flyscreen on that I use for track days ... )

How does the wheelie bar feel on launch? I know what it does, BUT, how does it feel? Squirrley? etc

I haven't run it with it being properly setup ... every time out has been - run it how I brought it - I always ride it to the strip ... so in street trim ...

I strapped the rear once with the bars on - nothing on the front .. and the one real launch I did was scary - got very squirrelly .. (I have to remind myself- my bike has a bit more power) but I did a few very low speed roll-ons to full throttle and it felt real cool !!!!

First you feel the bike wanting to lift, then you actually feel it transferring from the rear through me to the front and it just takes off like a rocket ... Still need a damper since the front end still will come up and can get a lil squirrelly as well ..

I won't know how it feels like this until I get a muffler on it .. so probably not until next week Thursday when I run it ..

It will probably take a few runs to get used to it .. It took me about a dozen runs in street trim to go from a 12.8 @ 112 to 11.9 @ 115 ... I've been told by those experienced in drag racing that the bike's pretty much an 11 to 11.5 second bike without the wheelie bars ..

Going to be interesting and fun to say the least ....

Yeah, I would like to just get a FULL on run down a strip just for haha's.... and the only way to do that, is with a wheelie bar... at least for me...

I used to drag race my 01 GSXR 750 and my 02 R1 about 5 years ago or so and that was fun and I got as low as 10.5 with the GSXR with just some suspension mods and a slip-on. The R1 was a different story though, it was just too wheelie happy and I couldn't get below a 10.9. That being said, I couldn't imagine drag racing a buell, it would be way too wheelie happy with all that torq

Mine puts down more torque than the average Buell as well ... I'm putting to the ground as much if not more than many Buell's are putting out at the crank ...

Although - I would love to give other's bikes a run .. Firemanjim's bike comes to mind ... bikes that make mine look slow ...

Hence the wheelie bars ... best run so far without bars is an 11.948 @ 115.35 mph ... and there is much room for improvement on that time ... (always slipping the clutch enough to keep that front wheel down ... never strapped the front .. I'm told that would have helped ... but now ... wheelie bars .. it's just for fun anyway ... )

S1 is looking badass Brian...
Just keep the headlight on for more stability on the front.
