what has been used to replace the original shock on a 98 S1. all the parts i have found are obsolete and i cant order one any more. the replacement kit # i found was K1400.C. what have you guys been using now?

Penske. Expensive, but rebuildable...I may have to buy a couple seals sometime, but never another shock : ) Check americansportbike.com for new pricing; every once in a while used ones turn up too, keep an eye on ebay.

I have yet to find an outfit that will rebuild my shock for less than a mint. I'm looking for information to do it myself. If anyone has some leads on a service shops, please post them.

With the current exchange rate, that shock gets fairly pricey.

Must admit, can't complain from our side at the moment. It's a quality item and is about the same as we were paying for Penske a few years back.

So has anyone modified a shock from a X1 or another tuber other than a S1?
