Hi All,

I was at the HD dealership getting my free Buell Courier bag and after brousing around I stumbled upon a very clean but slightly hacked up S2 in the back, clean off of a trade. It has low miles (7,000ish), and is in very nice shape, so I decided to put the money down ($3,900)and save it from the 'Buell Chopper' crew. The intake and exhaust were in need of some repair as well as a few other things, but the big problem is that the previous owner cut off the rear license plate/turn signal holder. The rear light does work in continous on in low and high, but the brake light doesn't work (it did for the ride home, but no running light). He also cut all of the wiring for the turnsignals and I got the parts in a bucket. So the only thing keeping the S2 off the road now is the fact that I have no rear turnsignals or brake light (the front signals work) he left just a bunch of wires hanging down off of the pig tail by the rear light. He did not leave anything to mount aftermarket signals, so I was hopeing that someone had experience with adding a 'integrated' tail light/turnsignal kit, LED or incandesent.

Also, the rear view mirrors are mismatched junk I reluctantly put back on (they were in the bucket) so that the fairing would not be damaged (any hints on decent replacements?)

If anyone has any experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated, as it looks good in the garage, but better on the road.

Thanks

Ebay has generic LED turnsignal/taillight/brake light kits. Maybe solve all your tail problems with that.

As far as mirrors go. How about the Aprilia Touno mirrors the Uly guys are raving about.
That's what I want to put on my Cyclone.

For a cool mirror mod check here...

For integrated turn signals use the search utility. There are lots of guys who have put their turn signals in the rear vents to clean up the back end.

Any time you use an LED turn signal, you have to use an equalizer box. LED's don't have resistance across them so the stock flasher thinks the bulb is out and you flash double-time. Al at American Sport Bike has an LED flasher relay that I put in my 98 S1W when I converted to all LED signals, and it works great. I don't know how/if it would work with front incandescent / rear LED setup though, you may have to convert all four.

For the mirrors, I think you can use a stock XB-R mirror, or you could convert to bar-end. Me, I like the fairing mount mirrors on the S2...but I have bar-ends on the S1W.

If you decide you want to go back to stock in the back of the bike, let me know and I can find the part number / availability of the undertail portion. I still have stock signals on my S2 because with the saddlebags (I love 'em), there's really no point in "cleaning up" the rear end, LOL.

Good save. Glad to see another one will be ridden, not hacked!!!
