I am not asking whats the best I just want a census of what brand and filter # you use for your X1. Also if you could include spark plugs and their # as well. I am making a excel spread sheet for tuneups and such, Thanks in advance.

Dyna black long from Harley-Davidson, extra oil capacity.
It certainly can't hurt with the tubers limited oil tank capacity.

I use the Harley Davidson shorty filter but I also have the billet oil cooler in front of that so if I use the long it looks like a forward foot rest, and I think the plugs are Screamin Eagle. I never had any problems out of them so I just replace it with whatever comes out. You know, if it ain't broke...

Also I've been meaning to ask at what temp. does your oil normally run? I have the thermometer dip stick and it indicates I'm running at 190 degrees pretty constant. Does anyone else keep up with their temp and if so what is it? 190 seems pretty good to me.

Amsoil filter along with Amsoil 20/50. All the independant tests show that filter to be the best on the market.

Amsoil filter and Amsoil 20w-50. They have a new line of filters called "Ea". Go to their website for the correct part number.

You're supposed to change your oil filter?!?!

I've used the same oil filter for over 70,000 miles on my S2.

Oh yeah, is has a cleanable stainless steel internal screen cartridge.

System 1

Now I understand why I get the weirdest looks when I am buying oil and answer 'No!' when I am asked if I need a filter.

Hey FreeFlyer,
Did you have some issues with the SYN3 stuff? Just wondering because I just changed my oil last weekend and used the stuff in my 02M2. All the times before I used Mobil 1 V-Twin. I couldn't find it where I live now so went to the Harley shop and picked the SYN3 up. Let me know what's up.

The Amsoil Filter is a EAOM134, and if you want a chrome one it's a EAOM134C. Hodakaguy is right, Amsoil's website has a lot of fitment information. With the EAO filter and their motorcycle oil, your suppose to be able to get 25,000 miles before you change it.

Has anyone seen or been using this high dollar filter? I read about it in last month's issue of Street Chopper. They put it to use on a dyno and if you can believe their numbers it worked. They claim 8 - 10 HP gains but I think it's around $200. That's a lot of oil changes to pay for itself. Just wondering

Even though I run Amsoil (I used to run Mobile 1 20-50W and liked it also) I still change my oil at 2000 miles, sometimes even a little less. Oil is cheap and it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know the S1 has nice fresh oil :-)

In response to the oil temp question, it varies between 160 and 210 depending upon how hard and what time of year I ride. But typ. its 190 -- goes to show me that I really don't need an oil cooler...

You can check for your self by getting a fast reacting kitchen thermometer at Target or Wally World. Calibrate at boiling point of water first.
