Working under the tail of my 2000 cyclone, I noticed 2 odd things:

1) The computer under there says LIGHTNING across it and 6800 RPM Rev-Limiter. Is this stock on the Cyclone? Seems odd.

2) There is some sort of breather tube that ends right above my rear tire. What is it??? I don't like anything breathing oil onto my tire!

Mike --

1 -- you may have the famous race ingnition (in fact, I'm almost certain you do) -- it works fine on your bike . . .

2 -- that's the breather hose for the primary/gearbox -- it'll blow spooge is the primary is overfilled, get's water in it (careful when washing the bike), but should otherwise be pretty irnorable

Famous race ignition eh?

What kind of gains are to be found with this ignition?

any gains will be found to the left of a decimal point -- the chances of it's being measured, much less felt, on a strett scoot are nil to nada

So was that ignition box originally for an S1?

(no. Not touching the tail thing)

Nate -- I don't believe so -- the race ignition module for my MaDuece (correct p/n and all) also had a lightening bolt and the word lightening on it --

part of the pro series branding at one point, perhaps?

Most everybody says they can't feel the difference with the Race Ignition, but I could have sworn mine ran different. Just seemed to rev quicker. Not much, but perceptible, and seemed like an improvement.

I don't think this would show on the dyno, and according to the chart shown in the Dyno section here, it doesn't. But I guess it depends on the exact configuration you're running, what cams, heads, pipes, carb, etc. Probably everybody is running something slightly different.

Man, now I'm curious what else is done to my motor!

When I bought it I thought it had a slip on muffler, k&n intake, and was rejetted to match.

Now I learn the previous owner put on the stainless braided brake lines, the oil cooler, Race Ignition, full exhaust system along with the intake, and I'm still assuming it's just a jet kit and not an actual performance carb. I don't know about cams/heads.

The guy I bought my M2 from swore the dealer jetted the bike for the K&N Race filter, and the Vance & Hines muffler it had.

But when I finally pulled the jets, they were factory stock sizes, according to my parts manual. (195 Main, 42 Low)

Changed to 48 Low, so far that's all...
