Duckbuell:
You need to crop your pics. They are screwing up the size of the page.

Nice bike btw.

Really?

Maybe it's cause I'm using a small monitor but with the pics posted starting 28 Jan they are too big for the screen and throw the whole thread outside the boundary of the window.

Usually this is caused by pictures that should be resized smaller so that it doesn't take a window and a half to display them.

It can also really slow down the time required to load the page, especially if anyone is still on dialup.

Nice bikes tho.

Fort Sam, were you a medic? I did mine in Benning. You think Texas is hot, you should try Iraq, 120 in the shade. Plus they have to wear those damn Kpots everywhere they go now. We had it easy with boonies and p-c's.

Buell luggage and luggage racks are still available for tubers @ http://www.americansportbike.com/

Built by Ventura. Bolt right on with no modification. I have two. There are tall and short racks and are interchangeable on the mount.

I believe the best year for S3's was the 1998 because:
CARBURETOR installed which allows for a push-start with a dead battery.
101 HP motor.

For better fuel mileage my '97 (91 HP motor) with 50,000 miles still gets 55-60MPG average. How is 45MPG with fuel injection better?

Robert: I run my bikes hard. On my 99 S3 out of factory set up I got 54 + a gal after factory race set up and 0 tps much more power also freer reving engine but 10 miles less a gal.Yes I can start my S2T bump starting to. On S2T , added a Mikuni carb, Vance Hines exhaust, better runner more power less mileage from factory 65 miles a gal. after 46 agal. But no more hiccups and flat spots. As I see it performance cansils mileage. I would not be afraid to buy any year S3.Butch

Ebutch, good to know that carb. and fuely S3's get the same mileage stock, and react the same to Vance Hines exhaust.

Bad Karma:That's what keep Buells such a bargin! The only thing wrong with the S3 from the factory was the computer which made Eng. run lean and have flat spots which I replaced with Buell race package which I got on eBay at a bargain + I see you Owen a 99 S3.Buells are the Chevys of motor cycles, parts a plenty at a deal, factory, used, aftermarket,+++. I put the race ecm on after the second long term visit to the dealer. I suspect wiring. When it came back from southside they had taped a few wires in the injector circuit. Yes the cost are low, and problems where corrected but I would avoid the 99, just the same. Unless somebody corrected all he problems.

It took 4 years to straighten out the bugs of my 99. Still would not get rid of it - too much fun, but I would consider adding a 2002 into the stable.

I totally agree with you. I would not sale my 99 S3 either. It took me a bit longer than you to correct. But there are motorcyclist that don't valve their motorcycle as much as we do. All they want to do is ride or maybe get something that looks cool. Plus there are people that do not have the reserve cash to correct the problems. I like my buells and will not trade them for another bike, except maybe a XBrr for the street.

I love my 99 - buying prices are cheaper and the 3 or 4 upgrades needed are none and simple. If money is no object, sure why not buy a newer one, but you will not find a cooler or better looking (IMO) S3 for less money than what I have into my 99...
