Everyone...I was working on my S3T last night...Just doing a little maint so that I can get the bike registered in DE and I found that my battery was dead. I know that I should have attached the trickle charges but I failed to do so. Now I believe that I need a new battery and I was wondering of anyone had any other choices besides going to a Buell dealer and purchasing another.

I am curious to know your thoughts and what choices are out there for our Buells.

Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend the stock HD unit. Mine lasted 5 years which is well better than the Yuasa's I used to run in my other bikes.

I agree with Sloppy; the factory HD battery seems to be pretty bullet-proof.

It's definitely worth putting it on the charger for a few hours before you toss it. Your dealer can test it in the bike and tell you its condition.

Yes, I agree with everyone... stock battery AND the price is a bit better than other replacement brands. At least around here.

Yes ... the HD batteries now are nice sealed units. A good value. I recently got them for my S2 and S3.

I think I paid $60 - $80. They are sealed and I believe gel batteries. Value goes beyond price. The S2 and S3 take different part numbers

There's not many things I'll go to a HD dealer for, but batteries are one of them.

Interstate Cycletron. News flash... Harley doesn't make batteries, they supply specs to the manufacturer. Ever wonder why most motorcycle battery numbers start with "Y"? Because they're made by Yuasa. $45 and I was down the road, with a nationwide warranty. One more thing... Harley doesn't make oil filters either. Fram does, for $4. Better than stock. Sorry, no chrome. : )

Last fall I put an Interstate in mine. The "In Stock" part was the differentiator. Right now I mostly ride about twice a week - 15 miles to work and back. Maybe a couple of grocery runs on weekends. It's held up fine. Granted, it's not all that old just thought I'd give you a data point.

The Odyssey in my S3T had metal jacket and was a bitch to get in there. It was orange and didn't last/perform any better than a OEM HD battery. ...not worth it to me.

When I replaced mine several years ago the aftermarkets that I could find were the same price, or more, than the HD.

I have 6 years and 40,000 miles on my Odyssey and love it! My S3 starts every time in any weather. By the way, the Odyssey is a dry cell.
But... It cost me $150.00. If the Harley unit will last that long at $60 - $80 it is a much better buy.

Odyssey here. Works fine, but had to put a 1/4 inch nylon shim to get the strap to fit. It states that in the info you get with the battery. Got mine for $90 from AJUSA online.

I'm pretty sure that this one is the exact same battery as the HD unit that came in my 99 S3. Other than the sticker, it is identical in every way. My 99S3 battery lasted 6.5 years, that is the longest I've ever had a vehicle battery last, car or bike.

Has anybody tried the PowerMax AGM by ACDelco and how has it been? Most original equipment Delco batteries are real good. Its listed at Apex battery "www.apexbattery.com" for $65 with free ground shipping. A drop in item.
