I would like a little more wind protection to reduce the pressure I feel pressing against my helmet. Does anyone have experience with the Laminar Lip on an S3/S3T?

Thanks,
Mark

I just bought one. M2L with "Buell Color matched custom seat" ( changes riding position ) & S3t Fairing & bars. Also Zero gravity windscreen, which is an issue.

Installation, effortless. Top 2 shield screws & 2, "3M" fastener dots. Some spare dots included.

The difference is the high speed near laminar flow off the top of the shield, is now a slower, more turbulent, & higher flow. Not bumpy, jerky turbulent, but a diffuse water rushing sound. Feeling the airflow with hand shows it's higher & diffused. Since I have the tall wind screen, I think there is interference with the 2, my glider pilot sensibilities say it would be better on a stock screen.

With the tall ZG screen, the high speed air catches me on the shoulders ( at a 45deg angle on the outside. not at all unpleasant. ) and about dead center in the face shield. My Suomy Spec-1R will roar loudly if I duck the top vents into the edge of the high speed flow.

With the tall ZG & the Laminar Lip, The shoulders are clear, the high speed stuff hits higher, & is more diffuse, with the Spec-1R never doing the roar thing. ( & it really changes sound, from a bit loud, to leaf blower when the vents are in that edge of high speed flow off the ZG shield. Not at all with the Lip. )

I have not decided to keep it or not. I am sure ( and the instructions DO state it's for use with a stock shield ) that it would work better & make more difference, with a stock shield.

It MAY be noisier. It will help wind pressure on the face, I'd bet. Which lid are you wearing? It makes a difference.

Thanks for the comments. I wear a Shoei RF900 which I am about to retire and replace with a Shoei Z-2.

Been using this one for a year or so. Like it, it reduced buffeting and screws right on to existing holes.

Took off the Lip, went for a 120 mile ride, came home, cleaned my zero gravity shield, ( see Dfbutler's link above ) and put the Lip back on. The Zero Gravity shield is excellent, I do recommend it, I now give the Laminar Lip a big thumbs up too.
