this may have been done, and thought od before, but I didnt see it.....

For those who wanna convert to carb, why not grab the "fat" tank from a 98 S1, as well as the tail, swap the tank, hoses, carb etc... and make a truss for the tail...

Now the X1 looks better...and has a carb to boot...

I dunno, just a thought. I dont eve know if it woudl work, as I am no where near a buell...

By the way, just to gloat, if you havent been to Venice Italy, GO!!!!

at the time I did my carb swap I didn't know how easy it would have been to use an s1w or s3 tank. I do plan on switching to the old style tank.

x1 with xb heads and s1 tank just need a dose of s3 front fairing!

s3 front fairing!

I dunno about all that...I personally like that AirTech fairing...even the half fariign(superbike)..

But, yeah, that is the intent, 1250 high comp, XB heads, N80 cams, screaming ealge intake, and the appopriate carb...

Shoudl be good for some power...plus the S1 tail looks alot better than the X1

but the s1 tail is one seater and limits room for saddle bags.

Hmmm, 1 seater..there is a plus right there...
and saddle bags, I am gettign away without them now..so, it shouldnt make much difference to me.

Besides, I could always set it up, to have a M2 tail to swap out, on any unlikely event that I might wanna take a passenger...
I dont even have passenegr pegs now, havent since july

Do it, S1's are the best looking buell on the planet. I wonder if you could fab up a subframe to support the s1 tail that could just bolt on using the existing x1 lugs? That would be cool. I had to cut up the existing subframe and have it rewelded to fit the s1 tail on my m2. The sub frame on the m2 differs from the s1. The s1 has a steeper upward angle so I don't think your m2 tail will work. Check out my profile if you have questions.

There are a few s1 twin tail sections out there then you'd have the best of both worlds (sort of, the s1 seats are not amazing, spend some time on a bicycle and you'll feel better about the s1 seat though).

Check with Blake, I think he has access to Buell product inventory, there may be some new twin tail sections and seats still in stock somewhere, there were offered as an option.

S3 tanks from the bubbled decal era are around for pretty cheap, makes custom projects easier. I got my tank from a badwebber for around $40. They are out there, just gotta ask 97-98 S3 I believe.

Good luck.

That was the idea...

I also found that I like the tail section on the M2, in airtechs website...BUT, whatever...

I will keep an eye out for the twin tail..though, I seriously dont think I would use it..

I dont know right now, just brainstorming, trying to think of what woudl work, and what wouldnt.

Tha X1 seat is no gem either.

This whole thing started as a better way to convert to carb, the to jsut tear up the fuel cell..etc, etc

Being deployed sometimes leaves alot of time to think about future and current projects...

I've rebuild my X1 too an S1. I still have the fuel-injection on it. Look at this link for some pictures.

Marchel, which tank is that? And where do you move the fuel pump to?

all that looks good...but, may be a bit more involved than I was looking to go...

Marchel did an awesome job. But I'll just deal with a few inches of tube frame showing. after all it is a "tuber"!

I rather the larger tank, if for no other reason than the range......I was just wondering , if thats the "fat" S1 tank, or a M2 tank...what...AND how he kept his fuel infection..

and I hear that about the "tuber"

Marchel....why did you choice to go with an S3 front fender?

Great job on the undertail section!!! I've been searching for one for my S1W for 3 years. They are nowhere to be found: (

I used a S3 Tank, I think the '99 model used fuel-injection. So it is a tank suited for a fuel pump.

I used a S3 front fender too make the front off the bike fat. (and it was cheap on ebay)

I also painted a X1 front-fender in the same color. But i liked the S3 front fender, so left it on the bike.

The undertail, is a custom build piece. Build by me

This winter I will rebuild the bike, because some chick believed it was better too brake (much) later then me. It is a bit damaged now.
