I've been poking around with the idea of swapping 1 of my S2'S for a S1.
It seems that S1 owners want top money for there machine...which is cool...i understand.
S2 owners are way under value when comes to selling them...
S2 OWNERS NEED TO WAKE UP...S1 / S2 BOTH TOP OF THE LINE, HISTORY MAKING MACHINES..STOP GIVING THEM AWAY..AND THE BUILD A POGO BIKE CREW WILL LOOK ELSE WHERE!!
JT

S1 OWNERS

KEEP THE S1 / S2 ALIVE!!

the funny part is NADA for a s2 is higher htan an s1, but thats beside the point

Its about supply and demand, a local guy here is sellign a nukeblue frame on black s1 for 4900 and wont come off the price for 4300 cash.
SOme people are hardheaded, apparently most s1 owners are as well. good luck in your quest, i got an x1 for less or the same price as models 2-3 years older

FMJ,
YOUR RIGHT...BUT THE S2 IS A FREAKING INTENSE MACHINE...YOU CAN REALLY WORK THEM WILD TO MILD...REALLY GOOD LOOKING RIDE..HAND BUILT..QUALITY PARTS...PEOPLE TREAT THEM LIKE THEY'RE A DIME A DOZEN..I WAS THINKING ABOUT SELLING MINE..MINT 95', SIGNATURE, ALL THE STUFF, UNDER 7K..I MENTIONED $4,500 TO SOMEONE..THEY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY..

JT:
Bro hang on to that beauty!
the longer you keep it the more its worth if mint or near mint
IIRC about 2400 were built you own 2?
several are chopped / wrecked weekly?
odds are in your favor.

Ever consider using the "Aaomy method" for restoring an S1? He did his S2 that way.
interesting alternative.

I guess I must be a hard-headed S2 owner...The 'price' of my S2 hasn't changed - my S2 will only leave my hands when they're cold and dead!

I think it would be funny to buy up one of these bikes that the coppafreaks parted out and use it like a BUELL KIT.
Find an engine for it and make a new S2 out of it!

Nate...that's how I built my S1W. Some guys was parting out a perfectly good pearl white S1W to build a chopper. I had 2 S3T's in the garage. Now I have an S1W and S3T! Thanks to the "coppafreaks": D

To add my 10 cents from UK, I felt so depressed that for a country seeking history, that I was seeing so many S2's being chopped up for donor power plants.
I tracked one down cut a deal and have recently just completed 3500 miles on my 1995 (thunderstormed and cammed, etc) S2 in seven days.
I rode from Adell Wisconsin to Sturgis South Dakota and Back, before riding to Chicago in preparation to get bike shipped home.
Mileage was 4000 miles when purchased from the original owner of 10yrs.
90-100mph all the way, no lid, wide roads, beautiful scenery, lots of trailered Harleys Ha, Ha, it seems baggers with screens are not any good for riding, and I am embarrassed to say one Buell on one too.
It was great screaming pass these idiots, probably arguing about how high to have the air con or which track to play on the CD, thinking they were the hardcore, when in reality they have lost the plot, its the ride there, which is what it's all about.
Perhaps this is what we can blame OCC and the Discovery Channel for??
On this road trip I saw only 11 Buells, 2 were S1's, an X1 and the others were new school.
In one day alone I completed 550 miles much to the amazement of some bagger riders, I met on route.
It was just gas, drink and go.
The only problem encountered was a broken battery earth cable.
Did any Bros stop to help me, no, not for one hour, and then Fleet Farm came to the rescue in form of a welding cable, used it there and back. The HD dealer in Pierre S.Dakota couldn't supply one, even when I asked for a sporty replacement, but hey he was doing a roaring trade in T-shirts n crap.
The local auto shop made one while I waited for $4.00.
My first riding experience in the US has to be the best experience of my 22 yrs of riding, in UK and through out Europe.
Total visual, adrenalin and scenery overload.
Needles and Spearfish runs, Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park wildlife loop, Sleeping in the Black Hills in a hunting lodge, Deers, Bats and all sorts of other wildlife all to myself, awesome.
Temperamental weather to keep you on your toes, as well as the part-time riders, oh boy some of them are baaaaaaad.
You guys have got it so good.
I safely shipped the bike home and it now resides along side my 98 S1 Lightning Strike and 98 heavily modded S3.
From the three Buells I own the S2 would be the last to go and I love all of my rides.
A 96 S2 was my first Buell experiences back in 96 but at $16,000, I could ill afford one.
But that ride around London on a bike I thought I would never be able to afford kept the fire and desire alight.
I am now a proud owner of three Buells, have had the honour of meeting Mr E Buell twice and as noted above, I would need serious money to empty the garage of any of these rides.
Different in every sense, and sensory overload is what you get every time you ride one of these machines.
Slightly off the track of the thread, but maybe of interest to some of you guys
Outta Here!!!!

If anyone is interested in an S-1 frame I have one, I got it frame a coppa guy so all I have is the frame no title, was going to reverse the trend so to speak but I have my hands full with my M2, it's a 97 I believe dark grey or titanium in good shape for it's age, would let it go for real cheap. I agree that the S1's are the coolest bikes around just don't feel like letting the M2 go cause I think its easier to play with as far as mods...

And to think I had to pass on an S2 for $3200 (see classifieds about the September time frame). The delay in talking the wife into it and a buddy not being able to hook up with the owner in time to give it a look cost me. That one's going to bug me for awhile....

Buell tuber prices are hard to follow.

Only a few thousand every made. Lots have been wrecked or parted out. So only a few of them are on the market at any given time. Chances are there are less than 5 tubers for sale within 100 mile radius of your town. Now that should work in your favor. But HD rider don't like Buell's. Jap bike riders also don't like em. So unless you had a buddy that let you ride his Buell then you probably wouldn't be in the market for a Buell bike.

So very few bikes for sale. Very very few buyers. And ther is always one seller that is in a jam and sells his bike for peanuts. Add to the mix is the XB's. Any sportbike rider would probably buy an xb over a tuber. Xb9 can be had for 5g. So that hurts the value of tubers even more, by having less possible buyers.

Why I bought my first buell. I had an 883 sportster. It would have cost me about a grand to make it a 1200. But for the same total price I sold the 883 and bought a very very nice S1w. Never even riden a Buell and only seen a few of them. 5400.00 for a 1998 S1w with 4500miles and that was 3 years ago.

There is ONE tuber within 100 miles of me, and it was a 98 S1 nuke blue on black, for 4900. I ended up paying 4,000 for a X1 lightning with loads of goodies, and had it delivered and stuff for 200 bucks to ga, from a very great bad web member in SC.

I got reallllly lucky

I paid $5500 for a 95 S2 - hot 88" motor worked. I am now in the process of rebuilding it / freshening it up and will probably spend another +/- $3000 on it to get it the way I want it. So, a total of about $8500 for a 95 - the way I want it. I'm totally good with that!! Overpaying? Maybe. Happy with what I've got? Hell Yeah!!!
