I opened up my throttle housing yesterday to install the throttle lock assembly. Found a rub shoe and little spring clip inside already, so at some point in history my S2 had the twiddle knob already on it. Getting it open I had to drill out one of the screw heads though, those little shallow buttonhead cap screws sure do round out easy. But fortunately the local small town hardware store had screws in stock. Will finish putting it back together tonight and test it out tomorrow or the next day.

Thanks for the info on this.

Now I just have to get around to rebuilding the carb and other stuff. Maybe I'll get around to it all by August or so.

Mike.

I striped one of those damn little buttonheads too. Now I need to figure out how to get it out.

I'm guessing I'll find some old parts in mine as well.

Get a drill bit about the same size as the screw shaft and start to carefully drill into the head of the screw. Eventually you'll drill through the head and the housing will fall apart in your hands.

Bluzm2, Mikej, are we the only three left on the dying S2 board? Has the S2 been reduced to a side note in the evolution of Buell? Have the XBs claimed the streets as their domain? Tell me these things are not true!
(Wow, beer makes me stupid)

Nitsebes,
Look up a few postings, those pics Doughnut posted are the throttle lock parts. Installed on the bike it's almost invisible.

Might not be a true S2, but it is one of the prettiest.

What are "THE" upgrades for the S2? Not looking for monster power, just to make it a even better bike.

First define what you don't like about it and work on that.

Second define where you'd like it to do something different and work on that.

Third define what you want to do with it and can't due to current configuration and work on that.

You'll soon find that there is no absolute in bikes, and as soon as you set it up for one thing you'll be wanting to set it up different for something else.

I'm thinking you might need to head up to Alaska and buy that S2 up there, then think about changes you'd like to make to it on the ride back. That way you'll have two bikes, one to mod one way, one to mod another.

I know that it all comes down to taste. My S2 may be the closest to stock. I'm looking for the "must have" upgrades. I know that I want to convert to a "T" with lowers and bags and bars. Would like the exposed spring. Plan on the rocker box up grade. Hoping to lower the front and rear by 1 inch. want to add a clock.
I am however an idiot when it comes to machines. I want my S2 to do it all, but I don't know ANYTHING about mechanics. I am looking at making this bike last my life. Maybe "suggested" upgrades would be a better way of putting it.

Look in the archives for some of Jeff Holsey's posts (Not sure if I spelled his name right, his screen name here is Hoser). He put up a basic somewhat generic list of mechanical engine upgrades for the S2 engines that wakes them up at a reasonable cost factor. You can then decide if you want to go with shaved or lighter fly wheels like the newer Buells sort of have, but that will change the feel of the engine power application.

My baby turned 10,000 today! Then the horn fell off. Thinking of getting air horns, one behind each front grill.

Note: the "Buell" airhorns often seen on E-Bay are almost as long as your entire bike. Look at marine horns from a boating supply store.

The thought of "actual" Buell horns did come up, but quickly given up.

Would this year be the 10 year anniversary for the S2? or Next year? Is there no recognition from the BUELL H/D merger? Just want a type of event where the tubers can meet up to commemorate.

When and where is the S2 re-union? We really should get one going. I would love to get a family photo.

I know I have asked before, but hoping someone has a new answer. Besides sliding the front forks up in the tree, is there any other way to lower the front by an inch?

So. . . My horn fell off. I look at the "bracket" and it is actually 3 pieces on top of one another. I replaced with a piece of aluminum, (between 1/8 and 1/6 inch I would guess), and now my horn sounds really ill.

Just keeping this thread alive.

VIVA LA S2!

I am washing my S2 today. Damn it is hard to keep white rims looking sharp. The rear even more so. It is always much dirtier then the front. Am I using too much rear brake? My rear brake squeals a little as well. How come?

I keep going back and forth as to if I should "upgrade" my S2 with the rocker boxes from the XB, or thunderstorm heads, and all that other stuff, or if I should enjoy it for what it is. I kinda like having such a near stock machine when so may others are rushing to "improve" their's.
