Waldo I replaced all the little bolts and discs that hold the rotor on.... under 20$ total and it stopped all the rattling.

How did you get them off? I tried to replace them, but they are frozen.
BTW Kccyclone, I live in OP. I'm amazed how many KC Buellers I've found on this forum.

We are going for a ride Friday night.. Meeting at The Other Place on Metcalf at 7:00 pm. Hope you can make it. If not e-mail me so we can exchange numbers, and set up another time.

Waldo, sent you a PM but yes I do think they are just stock parts.. My HD Dealer that is not a Buell dealer looked them up and got them for me for like 3$ a peace.

Waldo,
I would check the play on your rotor hub. I had the same problem with about 3/16" play and it was due to the hub being worn...not the discs or the rotor. Please check for wear on that hub as you will be sorry if it gets bad enough to let the rotor slip off at 80mph. Ride safe!

Tbolt is correct. I have a 99 S3 that the carrier (center hub of the disk) is worn beyond spec. Time to change to the 2000 spec disk which has 9 floating points instead of 6 and does not wear out premature. Big topic at the last gathering of Buellers I was at. If the disk parts at speed the results I would think would be very, very bad. I think most people change the disk out because of the rattle long before it becomes dangerous.

Cereal, Kccyclone. Do either of you ever go to Cassoday on the 1st sunday of every month? great run. Just had a meet in Marquette {close to Lindsborg} last Saturday. About 4,000 bikes were there, had vintage flat track racing too! Cassoday is about 2hrs from Overland park. I've met other buell riders from KC there.

Hey Waldo, Kccyclone, asked me to let you know, that we checked and the piece's for you rotor have all been up dated to the 2000 & newer. You'll get better stopping and a lot less feedback from the newer style rotor. You'll also need the newer style bolts. Shouldn't cost you more than $120-$130 dollars.

Good luck,
Zeus.

I spoke to Dave at Appleton yesterday about the updated front rotor, and he said it would be about $100. I'm going to get that once I recoup my loss on that broken belt! Waldo, give Dave a call at (920)757-1651. He'll hook you up.

I think one of these would do the trick.

That will stop the rattle for now but in the long run it would be better to go to the 2000 disk.

Last year at homecoming I asked Erik if there was any reason to switch to the new style rotor, he said no, and he preferred the old style because it weighs less. The part number has been superseded, and is available, as of this morning, $148. The pictures above are off Ebay, current bid $20.50, 3 days left.
