That's not wrecked. It's got the Buell Racing trail reduction kit, er, I mean trail elimination kit.

We took a ride to a family member's house Sunday in Cape Girardeau to pick up a Honda Rebel for my father-in-law. 225 miles round trip. What a great day to ride. We took Hwy 61 the whole trip rather than I-55. Lots of riders out! This trip was to break in my new Avons. The old Dunlops were destroyed in a cloud of smoke... video below.

No, this isn't 100% Buell, but this is what I've been working on all winter. Still not completed, but it should be done in another couple of weeks pending receipt of parts.

I like the love child sporty...thing.

As for the bikes I have rescued, sure I sell them, sometimes. In Oklahoma...where the wind comes whipping down the plain...sorry...they have salvage titles until they are inspected buy the Tag Office, and viola' Rebuilt Title. Which banks and insurance companies seem to deal with better than "shop built" or "custom built" motorcycles.

I think a solo-seat and ditch the sissy-bar. The front looks small compared to the back. Those two changes would bring the overall proportions back in line. Not slammin' it, just my opinion. There is potential there.

I agree with Terribletim. In addition, I would throw on some drag bars.

Lookin' good Puddle!
Yup to what Terrible said, too.
How 'bout ditching the chain guard, trim the cam cover, a Storz 'XR' seat set-up, some Supertrapp high pipes, and black out all the aluminum covers, a small air cleaner, some flat or satin black paint on the tank and trimmed down rear fender, and do the wheels red?

Oops! sorry - I just made YOUR Sportster into what MY Sportster would be!

Post a pic when ya get the rest of the stuff!

Drag Bars! That's what I missed! Absolutely, she needs drag bars! And I second the smaller air cleaner. Harley air cleaners are just too big! I even went with smaller ones on 2 of our Harleys! S&S teardrop, think about it. I like the Buell front wheel, but now you need a match for the rear. Keep us updated!

Up next is a modified swingarm to fit the XB rear wheel, but I'm kind of short on funds right now.

Yeah, the guys on the XL Forum also mentioned the seat and sissy bar. I do plan on getting a low profile solo seat and ditching the sissy bar. Problem is that the wife usually sits on the back, so the Storz XR seat is a no-go. I've got the stock solo that is going to be going on it, with the sissy bar coming off. Whenever we're going to go for a ride I'll throw the 2-upper and sissy bar that is pictured. The wife doesn't want to ride without the sissy bar, but I don't want to ride solo with it on.

The bars are going to have to stay for a while. They're a big improvement over the stock buckhorns, but not quite straight. They're off of a 2005 XL Custom. I had quite the time internally wiring the bars, and I had to shave down part of the bar to get the grip heater to fit the throttle sleeve.

There's plenty of other projects I have planned, but no time or money. Thanks to you guys here for providing me with the information and the parts needed to make the front end swap a success.

I'll post some more when I get some more done.

I normally wear a helmet, but I wanted to prove to a friend that it was ME doing this!! And yeah, that was before I got the race kit put on.

Hey Puddlepirate - Good call on the swingarm. Sounds like you are headed right where we were with the mods. Stupid wallet! It never cooperates huh? I have the same problem. Here's a couple tips you can think about to cure the two-up dilemma. I have a solo seat on my Harley, and a short little stubby fender. I have one of those suction-cup seats for when I have to take someone. Truthfully, I avoid it at all costs but you could think about that option. My wife rides her own, that's always an option. And while she does have her own, here is the option you may really want to think about. She hates the sissy bar look to, but our kids kinda require it. So we put one of those "removable" sissybars with the luggage rack on her bike. It takes like, 5 seconds, and the sissybar/luggage rack is gone. With a nice low profile seat, it really cleans up the back of the bike when riding solo. Look into it, you may find it's the way to go. Keep us updated with pics!

Here's a shot of my 18 year old son, James, on Beach St. at Daytona 2007. His sister, Amy, goes to Ga Tech if you noticed the GT stickers! Here he is at the Florida rest stop outside JAX.
This 1995 S2 is my third Buell, but not my last.
We bent the side stand down and forward, and it works fine now. I'll send dimensions if anyone cares. She runs great!

Hey- Buellrider24 - where did you get your right side air scoop? It looks identical to the factory left. Also, where did you get the Rizoma front pulley cover cover?

What is that, a V-Rod mixed with a Lightning? Pretty cool.

Macnab: Too bad your picture is so small, I'd like to see that tail piece close up.
