I'm a free speech absolutist. That means I'll have to support your right to say hateful ignorant stuff. If it's easy, it's not really work. So while my initial impulse when seeing a job of Jew Hating monsters is to wish for claymore mines, it's their right to be horribly wrong. Until they actually threaten violence, you have to tolerate them like you need to be tolerated for your radical thoughts, like there are Men & Women and Tyranny is Bad. Feel free to disagree. And if someone actually screams they're going to kill you, and it's not obviously a faked threat, feel free to tear their head off. Literally. I don't advise that. It's disgustingly messy, and you'll ruin your life. And you better be damn sure it's a real threat and not a stupid child's hyperbole like "I hate you!", But if it's your best judgement you or someone else is really really endangered? Feel free to skip.  HISTORY rant.. I'm very much reminded of the Pacific in the late 1930s. Embargoes and economic pressure just pushed the Japanese Military Government into going to war faster. And we didn't stop the conquest of China until we sent Marines into Burma to open a supply line to the remnants of the Chinese government. ( a divided force more interested in consolidating it's power than fighting the Japanese, it seems ) And that massive effort and investment was primarily to get some airbases in range to bomb Japan. I don't want to take anything away from the brave Marines and Brits, and Army Air Corps that left wrecked planes and bodies across the Himalayas and the jungles of Burma. Plus the AVG, who gets more credit today than back then. But the total effect on the Pacific War was marginal, in many ways. A full offensive against Japanese forces in China might have been worth it, but risky. The long range bombing was very limited. Every engine part, gallon of fuel, bomb & bullet had to be flown in at great cost and in the end, didn't end the war. Too little, too slow. Arguably it was worth the effort to distract the Japanese Army, and prevent them from backing up their Navy in the island campaign, and keeping Japan from taking India was a major job that needed doing. ******* Speculative tech geek rant. So... Today's China is pushing hard on the military front, and we invested Trillions building up their industrial capabilities. Chinese fighter planes are darn good. They aren't copying 50s Soviet stuff anymore. And their espionage is darn good. The latest stuff in actual production is derived from the next generation of European and American stuff that isn't going to be built at all. The Saab Grippen is perhaps the closest to current Chinese stuff, and it's darn good. And the reality of Air superiority is simply that numbers do count, still. Each irreplaceable F-22 ( no more will ever be built ) might shoot down 4 "not quite as good as a F-35 or F-18, but close" Chinese fighters, but if it's 8 to 1 odds, we run out of pilots fast. And our Navy has been starved for maintenance funds, so there's few ships ready to fight, low crew numbers and morale, ( woke crud ) and our Naval tactical doctrine is limited to Cold War gear and thinking. The rail guns are still in development, and the new cannons don't have ammo. We designed, and built! Long range precision rocket booster range extended guns. But the rounds capable of killing a terrorist or missile launcher cost as much as Vietnam War supersonic fighters. So they don't have any. I'd say our Submarines can do a great job killing enemy subs and warships, but they don't have enough reloads available to sink the Chinese supply chain of oil tankers and container ships. And the deck gun was gone by 1950s. Missiles, sure, but see cost cutting and target value. Tomahawk vs. truck mounted Silkworm? And the Chinese Army just defines the problem simply. You can't carry enough ammo even if you're, and I mean Every Private in the US Army, is John Wick and wears formal plot armor. Quantity has a quality of it's own. Build enough good enough weapons and you win if the other guy doesn't. As I often say about the Second Amendment fight on "assault stuff", there hasn't been a substantial change in infantry weapons in a century, plus. Better sights, yes. It's night vision and networking stuff that's changed. The ability to post a picture and a map with your sensor readings that matters. A platoon leader that has access to real time drone take and even better, able to see his own side, where his men are, has a tremendous advantage. But... Jamming and hacking exist. Being able to read a map is still a vital skill. Sigh... End rant, I may watch too much battleship video. I don't want war... Lot of nice Chinese people. | ||
