I have a list of things it's probably not. "It did not appear to have maneuverability capability, he said. "It was virtually at the whim of the wind." That describes a lot of my glider flights. But never that far out over the Ocean. ( or I wouldn't be here ) But I remember when a sailplane pilot in a self launching Caproni jet sailplane, wave riding in Colorado, had the winds fade, and, already at high altitude, decided to fire up his jet engine and cruise home to Seattle. Sorta "forgot" to call anyone except his wife, to tell her to drive the car and trailer home. Over Montana, iirc, the F-16 sent up to check out the UFO, was unable to raise him on Guard radio, ( pilot was listening to music ) and while trying to fly formation, stalled out and plummeted past the nose of the powered glider. That got noticed, and the pilot contacted air traffic control to report the near collision. Oh, boy, did he get yelled at. I'm guessing it probably wasn't a sailplane they shot down. Assuming I'm the Evil Overlord, or President... My preference in cases where I shoot (down) scouts, surveillance assets, spies, etc. is to not mention it at all, so the Enemy doesn't get Any information on how far/deep they've penetrated my territory/area of influence/military system. That hides the weak spots and enables ambushing the next probe. In a society with a free press that can be problematic. But with the current Party Media dominance of reporting, pretty easy. I'm skeptical on the U.S. sabotage of the pipeline. Not certain it's not true, just skeptical. You'd have to be very reckless to commit an act of war against a nuclear power run by a probable psycho- ( not qualified to pick a particular disorder ) Otoh, Joe* has been wrong on every foreign policy opinion he's ever spoken about. On the gripping hand, looks like Jill is running things. The most probable cause for the Nordstream blowouts is lousy maintenance and stupid orders from Putin. ( pipelines of that kind, really need to have flow and periodic "pigs", cleaning & inspection machines. Just letting them sit & freeze and poorly done restart can blow out a pipe ) But most probable is just that. If it WAS Joe* then waking Europe to the stupidity of Net Zero wasn't his intention. | ||
