That Ruger .22 I bought back in the 90's was stolen out the back of my truck, along with the truck itself, in '96 if I recall correctly. It, the truck and an entire college semester worth of work in my backpack. It was a long December that year. I got the police report and everything.

Oh! You're already on the FBI Terrorist Watch List, then.

I wouldn't take this as a positive. Without hope of getting a legislative cancellation of the Constitution, I expect an Executive Order to exploit the crime wave George Soros paid for with his support of Lefty DA & AG races.

Yalp, with the warnings typed out on it. There is a reason why I don't store everything here. And yous should never keep all your eggs in the same basket. Years ago I would live in places without a paper trail. Tools were cheaper than boats. So, I would modify the buildings to store stuff I hoped to never need in such a way that they would go undetected for decades +. In all the years I've only lost one pistol to demolition. No numbers traceable to me. That one was hid in 76 or 77. I doubt it was found during the demolition.

Did my BF shopping just now. Ammosteals(dot)com, 1k rounds of 124 gr 9mm fmj...$263 to my door. I've bought from them before. New brass, clean, consistent.

Can't argue with .26/rd these days.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to get your opinions on a gun I'm contemplating for cc for both my wife and I. It's the Springfield Hellcat Pro 9mm with laser.

https://www.murdochs.com/products/sporting-goods/f irearms-ammo/firearms/handguns/springfield-hellcat -pro-9mm-with-laser-package/?trk_msg=M2T4PAAP843K5 BU5BM6C8HBA38&trk_contact=9QT96R21KNAD22MBE45FR5PO N4&trk_sid=5RR17CGPRGAUH89P34L962S86S&trk_link=N7D 6UQJREDL4T234US0QO6920S&utm_source=Listrak&utm_med ium=Email&utm_term=Save+%24200+Pistol+Package&utm_ campaign=2022+FLY015&utm_content=2022+FLY015%09

So, I'm a gun guy at heart but mostly long guns for hunting and I did compete in small bore starting at age 11. I just don't have the time to be well informed in topic.

Appreciate your input on this package in advance!

I bought a Sig P365 for everyday carry but the Hellcat was on my short list. I liked the sights a lot. It was light, well built and pointed well. The Sig fit my hand better than the Hellcat but it was a real toss up. If it fits your hand, I can't imagine you'd be unhappy with the Hellcat.

Needs,

That's a heck of a bundle deal on a really good gun. I second Zane, if it fits your hand well, it would be hard to find a better option/deal. Any chance you can shoot a Hellcat before you buy?

Joe(Ratbuell) loves his. He's talked about it quite a bit here on this thread.

Wear my (O.G.) Hellcat every day. Not the Pro - mine's the original, smaller 3" barrel, 11+1 flush fit / 13+1 extended (1/2") mag.

Love it.

Better yet - TRUST it.

Google "hellcat 10,000 rounds" and check out the videos. They used ONE gun, fired 10k rounds through it IN A DAY.

Then...later on...they did it again.

Same gun.

Then...a third time.

Same gun.

It gets on target fast. It gets BACK on target fast. It runs clean and as fast as I want - I can dump a mag into an 8" plate at 7 yards in under 5 seconds.

I did upgrade front and rear to night sights, and added a Viridian green e-series laser - same as in the package you're looking at. Carry in a Crossbreed MiniTuck - work, play, mountain biking, hiking, working in the garage, mowing the grass...you name it, it's on my hip. Unobtrusive, reliable, invisible even in shorts and a basketball tank top.

Shoot it first. Make sure it works for your hands. I haven't messed with the Pro because I love the compact size of the original. I probably have 2k rounds through it now, lots of them steel case...no issues, no FTF, and only a couple feed issues when I was running a cheap style hollowpoint - the ramp is steep, and the hollow tips were catching on the way up sometimes. Changed brands, no more issues. Carry it loaded with 124gr HST.

Shoot it, I bet you like it.

Shoot an original, too - see how the compact size works for you.

Thanks Guys,

Yeah we bought it, and surprisingly it fits both of pretty damn good, and my hands are nearly twice the size of Julie's.

Now I just need to finish my indoor range to get us plenty of trigger time.

Very true. All of it.

The "don't rely on others" part also points out the fallacy in the whole "loud pipes save lives" argument - you are still 'relying' on another person.

Don't.

Rely on YOURSELF. Pay attention - ALWAYS. See it coming, act accordingly - whether a soccer mom behind the wheel of an SUV, or a street slasher on the sidewalk in NYC. If you see it coming...you can protect yourself.

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2022/12/why -no-one-trusts-the-cdc.php

For years the CDC has treated "gun violence" as a disease to be treated like rabies or staph infections. Because, politics, funding.

Even better is getting funding to study gun violence and climate change!

I'm a very real sense, "gun violence" , aka crime, is indeed a disease of the spirit. But the CDC is not perhaps the best agency to study the phenomenon. Better perhaps the Psychology guys?

I'm sure there must be some explanation for politicians, mostly of one Party, writing laws and regulations that encourage the destruction of the family and ignorance. Welfare & education systems with systemic racism. Systemic ideology. Systemic reality denial.

But it's not a pretty explanation.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but...how about the COPS? Let THEM do their jobs. Then, let the legal system do THEIR job - instead of hog-tying all of them and making it impossible for them to do their jobs and actually put criminals IN JAIL, where they belong.

It's not a disease - it's a CHOICE. You don't "treat" them...you PUT THEM IN JAIL.

Or, bring back public executions.

It's called "deterrent effect".

George Soros has spent Billions to get persecutors elected all over the country who will refuse to prosecute criminals, and gleefully prosecute YOU.

My county elected the person George didn't want. But Monroe County has multiple towns & a city crammed together and lots of farm and suburbs. Multiple police forces. With varying reputations and leadership.

Pistol permits are issued on a County level. But you are tried in the town you get arrested in. Multiple courts.

There's a clear evolution of deterrence by jurisdiction. Criminals learn to avoid committing crimes in towns with conservative prosecutors, but criminals are dumb, so it's a slow process.

When shopping for a new house, today you consider schools, crime, and commutes. In my county those all vary from as good as it gets to nearly as bad. Rochester some years is top ten in murders, for example.

I tried out a coworker's Savage model 11 scout rifle.

It's the funnest, most user friendly bolt action I've ever fired.

So, I've got the new 110 version coming.

Medium bore rifle conundrum solved.

We currently have a beautiful scoped Enfield Jungle Carbine in the shop...but it's a little less practical.

Nice! Like!

A buddy won a bolt action 30-06 at a raffle, and a cheap Chinese "tactical" scope with rails sticking out of 3 sides. As set up with ok eye relief, there's 1/4" clearance between bolt knob & sharp rail.

It's not anti-theft, it's a revenge feature and easy thief identification method. "Parallel wounds on hand with specific spacing" notice can be circulated to law enforcement and local clinics.

I'm a big fan of scout scopes.

Sounds like a fine piece of Chineseium.

I like the entire scout rifle concept. The long eye relief scope is quick (at least at low magnification), allows for both eyes open shooting with good peripheral vision, and I like not having a scope bouncing right in front of my face.

These particular rifles have smooth actions with a good feel, good triggers, and they're known for accurate barrels. The AICS detachable magazine is designed for reliability in a bolt gun, so that's a plus as well. Internal magazine guns are a bummer.

I entertained getting an '06, but as 99.999% of my shooting will be at paper, it is not the most practical choice. Also, I want more that a three or four round mag capacity.

I love my lefty Savage Axis II .308. The lightweight composite stock is a catch-22 though - nice and light for transport, but DAMN it kicks like a mule! Like, nearly to the point of being unpleasant to shoot. Accurate, with a great trigger, very repeatable shots. It wears a Leupold scope that a customer gave me because he was so thrilled with the RV he bought from me - he owned a hunting shop, knew I had the Axis, so he brought me a new scope with mounts as a thank-you. Great optics.

It may or may not get a lot less use, now that I have my Stag (lefty) AR...but I still like having it in case I really need to reach out and touch someone...

Other rifles I was considering were the Ruger Scout, Mossberg MVP Scout, and the Ruger American Predator.

The Ruger Scout is a Mauser action...but unlike a well used surplus rifle with a smooth, glass like action all the Ruger M77's I've come across tend to stick at their rear most bolt position and they tend to feel a bit sloppy.

The Mossberg is sloppy and has a bolt feel like there is sandpaper in the action. People claim that they smooth out. There is no fixing that slop.

The Ruger American action is actually pretty good. There's usually a hitch just as the bolt engages the locking lugs which is incredibly annoying.

The Savage Axis II is probably the best budget action on the market. It's all the rifle anyone would need. I zeroed one that someone refused to do themselves...and with ammo provided I am hard pressed to decline shooting anything.
