One of the DUMBEST Things I've ever seen! This video should be shown to every class in Business School on what NOT to do if you want to start a corporation. The man trashed his Own Company.
From what I could find on the web, the one in front is $5.5K, Electric Power Assisted Bicycle the one in back is $11K Electric Power Scooter. Thats what STUPID is Damnut.
Don't feel bad . . . I paid about $90,000 for an electric car Saturday and I'll be, at my age, grumping for a year. I've bought 3 new cars this year and went a bit insane and bought an electric.
If some folks do some reading . .. knowledge will end most this silliness.
The statements are so far from the facts that I'm seeing it as entertainment, not a discussion.
If you’re interested in power and efficiency, electric is where it’s at, even if the power source is coal, oil, or natural gas. Not a whole lot of diesel generators on the grid. Well to wheel, electrics are massively more efficient than gas. Court has chosen wisely. If you need range and towing, stick with liquid fuels. To each his own, and for his own purposes.
I’d love one of those Fuells, but they lack air conditioning. I live in Houston.
Well to wheel includes all costs from well to wheel, including mining and transportation. It’s still more efficient. My cost per mile in my 500 hp car is four cents. What’s yours?
Fayette County Ky. purchased a hole fleet of Electric vehicles and after One Year they Junked them because they cost nearly twice as much to operate and maintain as gas vehicles. Electric Vehicles had no resale value after one year. Junk.
The New Pinal Challenged Man-Want-To-Be Mayor Fayette County had was a Tree-Hugger. Probably believe Star Trek is real also.
Electric vehicles are not cheaper to own and operate, and don't forget charge downtime.
To charge it back up to 80%, which is all I charge it to for daily driving, it takes about a half hour. How long do I wait for it to charge? No time at all. The car charges over night in the garage. I spend zero minutes waiting for it to charge. You spend more time waiting at gas stations than I spend waiting for my car to charge.
Road trips are a different story. I have taken two such trips, one from Houston to Seattle and one from Houston to Maryland. And back, of course. Charging adds several hours to the trip, but the charge stops are nice breaks for food, bathroom, and leg stretching There is no need to stay by the car while it is refueling. It takes 20-30 minutes, typically, depending on how low it is and how far it is to the next charger. The battery charges faster when it’s low. First 50% happens very quickly. Ideally, you arrive with 5% and leave as soon as you can make it to the next charger. The car tells you when you have enough to leave, with about a 20% buffer. I usually leave with a 10% buffer.
As I’ve said repeatedly, electric cars are not for everyone. If you only have one car and road trip a lot, look elsewhere. If you use the car to beat back and forth to work and the grocery store plus an occasional road trip, they’re great. Excellent mileage, zero maintenance, brutal acceleration. Show me another 500hp car that gets the cost equivalent of 120 mpg. That’s not the MPGe rating, that’s a cost comparison based on the price of electricity for my car and the cost of gasoline for an ICE car that gets 30 MPG.
The story of the electric fleet being trashed due to operating and maintenance costs doesn’t hold water. There is no maintenance. Cops spend a lot of time idling with the AC on. That uses fuel. An electric car only uses what it needs to run the AC, which isn’t much. It is massively cheaper to operate an electric vehicle. The purchase price is a barrier to entry, but they had already purchased them. I suppose that if they bought cars they might have maintenance or reliability issues, but that’s true for any type of car.
Resale - My three year old Tesla is worth more than I paid for it. People want them and are willing to pay a premium to not wait several months in line.
I suspect they bough cars that no one really wants new, let alone used, especially as a police vehicle, which see severe duty.
Tesla sells every car they make before it is made.
You're not saving the environment by driving an electric vehicle; do you know how toxic those batteries are. The TreeHugger bullcrap is a joke. The only one that can hurt the earth is God. Not man. God's not going to hurt the earth again. Man has his day coming. Amen.
Gensis 9:11 -17 11. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13. I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
You see Sodomites blasphemed the symbol of God's Bow in the clouds and made a flag to use as a symbol of sodomy.
“You're not saving the environment by driving an electric vehicle”
I never claimed to. If you read anything I have ever posted on the subject, you’d know that I bought it because it is an incredible car, not because of any perceived environmental benefit. AGW is a load of horse manure. Tesla batteries are projected to last a million miles. They will recycle used batteries into new cars. And when they’re shot, the metals will be recycled into new batteries, not thrown away. If you’ve not driven a Tesla, I highly recommend that you schedule a test drive. Shrug off all the environmentalist propaganda, and, to paraphrase Erik Buell, just go drive the car. You will fall in love.
Also, the first generation Prius was not a plugin hybrid. And even if it were, they would not have spent an excessive amount of time charging, because you do not have to charge them - charging is optional on a plugin hybrid.
Hootowl, I really don't care what year the cars were, they only kept them one year and sold them at a loss.
Fleet vehicles tend to go through a lot of abuse when operators don't have to pay for them nor keep up maintenance. Why do you think they put electric fuel pumps in gas tanks of vehicles? "E" doesn't mean extra.
The Tesla, you half to make a down payment and wait to get your car like Harley-Davidson did in the 90's... Right.
Come on Court answer my questions you're the Buell Guru. Right. Why did Harley Davidson End the Buell "Product" line?
What made Erik Buell want to use the Sportster engine for his "Product" line, seeing how Harley Davidson air-cooled engines are such overweight P.O.S.es?
Never considered a Tesla . . . .went with an Audi eTron Chronos. I’d bought an Audi S5 cabriolet a couple months ago . . . It’s a rocket ship and it seemed appealing to add the EV as a stable mate.
Also dumped my Porsche for another Subaru after paying $4,000 for a headlight replacement. Subaru is dull but incredibly engineered.
Fun learning about EV . . . But, I’m unconvinced they are cheaper than ICE.
Come on Court answer my questions you're the Buell Guru. Right. Why did Harley Davidson End the Buell "Product" line?
I was allowed to listen to Erik answer that question in a public audience and in private. The answers like the reasons were not a simple yes and no. I was not given short jabs, but a deep dive into a magnitude of situations and viewpoints I had not considered. In conclusion the dynamics of what was going on behind the scenes eliminates my ability to give a dichotomously simple answer. Erik himself could not deny that given the information and choices provided to Wandel, that he would not have made the same decisions. These conversations were had after the man had a chance to remove his emotions from the reasoning. I continue to be amazed by Erik. Are there greater and lesser humans? Yes.
