There have been plenty of mentally ill Olympic athletes. This is just the first to brag about it at the winter games, maybe. Also plenty of gay athletes. Generally closeted because in countries like China and Iran being openly gay gets you thrown in prison or off a building. So this person who identifies as a Tonka toy, or whatever, ( I didn't pay attention ) is "somewhat brave/stupid" for giving the CCP a propaganda tool to label Westerners as corrupt, deviant, scum. And I'm getting is feeling quite wonderful for virtue signaling! I might consider it a narcissistic cry for attention, but It may think it Brave and Ground Breaking, which it is. In a brutal dictatorship. ( or Stupid and self destructive, since being a foreigner isn't protection in Authoritarian Race Supremacists regimes like Xi's ) Now if you like you can put this person on a list of athletes you wonder if will be alive to get home after the Games. Are you sure about that? Somebody, somewhere, has a switch. Even if they don't, like any electronic anything...it can be hacked. I prefer my money to be analog - just like my 1970 Charger, or my tubeframe Buells. No computers, no chance of hacking or intrusion. Well...almost none. But if someone tries, I have my 9mm "cordless hole punchers" to stop the "hackers".  | ||

The tech & security of crypto currency is one thing, and I hold a favorable view, all in all. I'm not talking any single "product" like Bitcoin, I mean the concept is sound for the trading medium. Investing in a volatile market is gambling with varying results based on luck ( war? Strikes? Floods? ) and knowledge of the product & market. The crypto-mining part ( of Bitcoin etc. ) is separate from the blockchain trading/wallet part. By all means read up on it. My sister can explain it, but I can't.  The big danger is "it" either a specific product/currency, or crypto-transactions being made illegal. A government may declare unregulated transactions a tax cheat, or a threat to Security. Your guess is as good as mine. | ||

The D leaders were given a copy of the speech with applause pauses marked. ( this is SOP but not always with applause cues ) Joe* went off script. A few times. Sure looks weird when that happens. Speech writers and choreographers fear & hate when that happens. What they lose sleep over is when the speech reader swaps lines, and the group gives the planned standing ovation to utterly inappropriate statements. So they are prepared to cheer after the part claiming credit for a great triumph, but instead give a strange, trailing off in embarrassment, cheer for the thousands who died of the bad policy decisions. Oops. I suspect it happens more often when the windy one behind the podium is boring. | ||
