I used to take perverse pleasure in coming to a complete stop, looking left and right, then proceeding through the intersection, all with my feet still on the pegs. I loved messing with the people behind me. |

My XB is very easy to balance with small throttle inputs at stops. |

That's the bicyclist show off too. I'm not going to bother correcting my easily misinterpreted or poorly phrased statement/brag/true story above. You got the picture, just assume it was poorly put or in a mirror universe. I got a comment last year from a Honda Shadow rider about my habit of immediately putting feet on pegs when motion started while maneuvering through a parking lot. ( instead of putting out a foot to catch myself ) I explained that I had Titanium knees, and for too long a time before I became a cyborg, the shot, stock ones, sure weren't going to stop me from tipping over, and the horrible crunching and screaming wasn't the image I wanted to present. So I put some effort into riding properly instead of using habits that were bad when coaster brakes were high tech. Besides, it's hard work using one leg to slow a 500 pound machine that's toppling over. |

The way some riders drag a foot clear through the intersection after a start bugs me. It is just a bad habit and useless. |

Yes. My right foot is always up, on the brake, and I put my left foot up before I start moving. Watching folks dragging their feet across the intersection makes me cringe. |

I also hate seeing that. Dragging a foot and catching a heel in the pavement can/will result in a nasty little thing known as a compound spiral fracture. Look it up - and be forewarned. |
