When I see silly memes, posters and cartoons . . . I confess that I struggle to take them anymore seriously than an episode of Family Guy. I spent Juneteenth in Lecompton, KS . . . "The Town Where Slavery Began to Die". If you think a Jayhawker is a basketball fan . . . don't know who the "Red Legs" were or haven't read about Quantrill's Raid and the burning of Lawrence, KS . . . today would be a good day for a little reality catch up before you get swept away in this "woke" crapola. We've a history in this great country. Much of the history is wonderful and what makes us the #1 Super Power, economically and intellectually, in the world. Much of that history, owing to a number of reasons, is as ugly as the great was fantastic. But, I am convinced we are a people who can learn, right our ship and chart a path to greatness. I see too much good, in spite of what the media tries to tell me, on a daily basis. We've taken a bit of a wrong turn, perhaps, down the dead-end road of "woke-ness" as folks too lazy to study history or too entitled to respect it espouse things from a "free life" to tearing down Manhattan and planting petunias. Sure... I fled from communism, immigrant to the US, naturalized citizen, then USAF veteran. So am going to take an outsider's perspective here...Am going to be polite but am also going to be honest. Conservatives sucks at fighting for their beliefs. Am not saying conservatives do not fight, but that so often, conservatives focused so much on being ideologically pure amongst themselves more than they look at the big picture and the long run. Just now conservatives got 'woke' about critical race theory (CRT)? I read this drivel when I was active duty back in the 80s-90s. The Left is very good at party discipline but not in the ways you think. Most of them do not need enforcement. Most of them are already firm believers. Just like conservatives are firm believers. But what make Leftists different is that they are willing to compromise amongst themselves for the sake of the greater goal, which is the revolution of the US into a Marxist society. You conservatives want the governorship? Take it. The polls are not in our favor anyway. We have no problems sacrificing a bishop or a rook for a pawn. But as one of you sit in the governor's chair, we will do everything we can to make governance difficult for you. We will obstruct where we can and create scandals when we can. In the meantime, we will take the school boards. That is boardS, plural. Your governorship last 4 yrs or maybe even 8, but we have your children's minds from age 6 to 18, or even longer. The governorship is the rook that we sacrificed so that we can take the smaller local school boards that is the pawn. We will make life difficult for your governor so that you will make life easy for us as we take control of academia because you conservatives never cared for what goes on inside the classroom in the first place. When I was active duty, I had a chance to play tourist in East Berlin when that part of the city existed. The difference between the two Berlins was like night and day, to be cliche about it. I was propositioned to sell my Levis 501 jeans. Do you people really think that the Leftists do not know of the differences between life under Marxism and life under democracy-capitalism? They do know but they do not care. When the Berlin Wall collapsed, I was on duty and the entire squadron breakroom was in shock as we watched the news. Some in the room said 'We won'. But I told who those would listen that we did not. We may have won the economic and military sides of the Cold War, but the ideological conflict will continue. I was mocked, in good nature, of course. We were all brothers and sisters in arms, after all. But my family fled that system and I know how devoted Marxists are. The Left works to break Americans at the atomic level. Spouses against each other. Parents against children. Friends against friends. Neighbors against neighbors. And so on. That is what I mean by 'atomic'. The basic bonds of every society. Critical Race Theory, cancel culture, or 'woke-ism'. Whatever labels you want. Each is a tactic to be used when opportunities arise and discard when no longer applicable. I ask bluntly -- How many 'third party perspective' do you need? There are plenty of us 'third party' scattered throughout the US who are willing and have been casting warnings about the American Left all these decades. I am one such. I served with many of you in the military. Many of us started businesses alongside many of yours. We have not been shy of telling native born Americans of where we came from and why we fled FOR America. Our stories are in print aplenty. So how many more do you need? I apologize in advanced if I touched any raw nerve. The true Speaker of the House Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez publicly pressured Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire. For those of us who fled communism or authoritarian governments, this is a threat, not a 'pressure'. We have seen this over and over in every country that we came from. Why do you Americans tolerate this? The reason why AOC and others on the American Left feels no compunction about issuing these thinly veiled threats is because Americans at large have been letting the Left getting away with little things here and there at all levels of society. They shamed you about your country's history and traditions. They mocked your intelligence. With each issue, they tested you and each time you backed down, even if just half a step. But over time, those half steps built up. There is no point of even having a facade of an independent judiciary if politicians can publicly threaten the judges and know they can get away with it. When I raised my right hand for the oath of citizenship, I knew what I was getting into. Everything about the US, the good, the bad, and the ugly, became mine to bear from that day. One of the greatest things about the US is the perception, by foreigners, that American judges can and have defied the government. Many of us came to the US for many reasons. Those whose primary motivation was economic will have a different personal justifications than for those of who were fearful for our lives. For those of us who fled our countries of origins, the US political system was our personal justification. But now, we are seeing American politicians behaving EXACTLY as the monsters that drove us away from the countries of our births. Roderick | ||

To be fair, among the ambitious who will go quite far to advance, and owe their positions to Barry, who purged their superiors, there are real patriots who will parrot the mantras and are biding their time, trying to preserve some capability of defense, and praying they don't need to respond to irreversible treason. So I'm not all in on condemning the Brass. My default setting is skeptical caution anyway, when it comes to Generals. There are too many generals & admirals today, anyway. We aren't N.Korea, where the medals run down their legs for ?? ( killing peasants ) but we literally have more Admirals than ships. If you keep your nose reasonably clean and do your paperwork, promotion is nearly automatic. ( and you get left off the promotion list ( which means you should leave ) if you're a troublemaker. In sum, why do nonwhite racists think they are not racists, 60 years after the Civil Rights movement? Why do they think it is in their interest to establish the principle that it is perfectly fine to categorize, systematize, stereotype, and generalize about tens of millions on the basis of their skin color, and why do they think that in a multiracial democracy their own protocols and tropes won’t boomerang on them? For hundreds of years it's been obvious that those people who see groups based on skin color not individuals to be judged on their merits, are the definition of racist scum. For hundreds of years the United States has had One Party that has had name changes, but never attitude changes on judging based on skin color, not individual humans who deserve to be taken as themselves. The bottom line is a group you are assigned to by others, based on skin or ancestry or group rivalry, is not your fault or responsibility. Little Japanese children didn't bomb Pearl Harbor and don't deserve a millisecond of shaming, blaming, or hatred. Groups you join willingly, otoh, you chose to take the benefits of, you get the blame for their sins, and an obligation to object to wrongs and correct them, if only by choosing your own leaders. In my personal case, I am accidentally, by fate, of the pale blue Northern Atlantic European coast peoples. I do take some pride that My ancestors are the subject of a few cool tv shows! But I never raided the Lindisfarne monastery and just bought the awesome mead online. And I can't take any credit for building Stonehenge, or blame for taking my namesake as a slave. ( he escaped, also not my Fault ) My membership in the USHGPA or the SCA otoh, mean I'm obligated to condemn fellow individuals whose individual actions reflect poorly on their chosen groups.
