Sitting here with a brand-new bow-front aquarium, gonna tear down the old one and set up the new one later today. Went shopping yesterday for new flooring, came home from Ollie's Discount store with what's needed, bought at 15% off. Got a $5 scratch-off, netted a Bennie. About to head to North Knoxvegas to see M's son and family, visit with a long-lost cousin who's passing through. Planning on buying a small trailer for my new (to me) Jon boat, then taking the whole rig to work for powdercoating. Also planning for May... It's Valentine's Day, gots my honey, my dawgies. All is well. | ||

I like only a few symphonic pieces, and this a favorite. I stumbled across it searching for "modern American music" and over the years have come to love every note. If you don't have the time for a 43:28 minute video, you can just cut in at 39:10 or therabouts. From Wikipedia: "Written at the end of World War II, it is known as the essential American symphony that fuses his distinct "Americana" style of the ballets (Rodeo, etc.) with the form of the symphony, which has generally been a European-dominated musical form...The overall tone of the work is one of heroism and dignity, and it leaves an appropriately stirring impression." | ||

Not only a pity, but makes me sad. Matthew was here when I first joined this forum. Not only have I enjoyed his posts, but I've come to look at him as a friend though we have never meet. I hope he comes back. And while I mean no disrespect to Blake, I feel his lax attitude toward some will have others leaving as well. It's sad. It sucks. And it has me a bit upset. | ||

Update... all is well. I can't list all the things since I've last posted. Still engaged, despite a king-hell argument that caused her to remove my grandmother's ring. Fixed it. Rode today, then came home on time to cook burgers and hot dogs. Bought spicy boiled peanuts for $6 just before I hit the Foothills Parkway to take the long way home. Also, rode with new contact lenses. And old yellow safety glasses. Heck, can't keep up with the good in my life, just trying to grok it.  | ||

I use the Smith meaning. Good to hear the domestic stuff is better. I love the Absolute Attention from the Canine roombas. Snow is melting fast, but rainy, I expect more snow and at least one big ice storm before the bike gets out of the shed. Lots of salt drifts in corners. 2020 was a crisis year for many, for many reasons, and I appreciate you all putting up with my cynicism. | ||

Spring is coming! Going to focus on getting the bike out right after the rain clears the salt drifts. It's not too bad now, but still there are treacherous corners and corrosion aplenty. Meanwhile, it's time to paint the old canoe and start on outriggers, just to see if we can sail the silly thing with a kite. Pictures when in progress. | ||
