So, by a side effect of the orders of The Sexy Governor, 66% of the vaccine distributed in the Big Apple were thrown away? If he'd had an R after his name that would be Mass Murder.

It's still mass negligent homicide.

Good article Bruce.

It seems that I contracted the China Flu at a Town Board meeting. We held the meeting at our sanitized Town Hall.

Hand sanitizer is placed on the tables, 6 feet between officials, everyone wore the stupid blue masks, no handshakes, no close contact.

One Board member had China Flu and from that meeting, two other Board members,, Tax Collector and her husband, me (Code Officer) Assessor, Town Clerk and Highway Superintendent all came down with it.

The protocols don't do shit, each and every one of us and our families were tested and recovered without problem, I passed it to my Mom as I wrote above, and at 97 recovered no thanks to the damn medical "treatment" she received at the hospital after her mild stroke.

For the virus, I agree. I've been saying all along - it's a virus, it's going to go where it's going to go. Period. It's how they work.

What the protocols DO do - and we all know this - is keep "power" in the hands of the rulers...er, representatives.

Once again - content people do not look for change. Happy people do not look for change. Comfortable people do not look for change.

SCARED people look for change. UNEMPLOYED people look for change. DESPERATE people look for change.

And, scared/unemployed/desperate people are less likely to fight back when change is put upon them.

...but it's all about a virus. Right?

Actually a biological war attack on all mankind by the CCP, with special attention to domestic rebels, the old who drag on the Worker's Paradise, and Donald Trump.

Andrew The First jumped right on the "kill the elderly, it saves the State pension fund we stole, and eliminates people who remember a society with equal rights, not a racist aristocracy with Privilege." bandwagon.

So, yeah, it's all about the virus, just like World War One was all about machine guns.

Found it.

1/25/2021 Masking the Science
We have purposely avoided directly confronting the issue of masks because it is such an emotional and political issue. Like waving a red flag in front of a bull, the topic elicits strong emotions which overwhelms reason. We wear a mask in the hospital and don a N95 mask, gown and gloves when we see a patient known to have COVID-19. Masks are used for source control when patients are admitted with various types of infectious respiratory diseases. After the visit, we dispense of the gown, gloves and change into our regular surgical mask to continue patient rounds. In public, we wear a cloth mask to comply with executive orders and as a courtesy to others who feel afraid and uncomfortable. Like most of you, we rarely wash the mask, we stick it in our pockets, pick it out of the glove compartment or off the floorboard when we need it.

In truth, we wish masks worked. If they did, it would be a cheap, and easy way to control the spread of Covid. The idea that they protect not only their wearer, but also those people around them seems noble. We wished masks worked because citizens are spending billions of dollars on them.

We wish masks worked because most Americans wear them now. Telling them it was unnecessary will not make them happy. We wish masks worked because they have become a symbol for virtue and social responsibility. Anyone who doubts their utility is personally attacked; as though they don’t believe the viral pandemic is real, or don’t care about those who die from it.

We wish masks worked, because they distract from other important Covid related issues such as: school closings, lack of access for non COVID related illness, increased mental illness, elderly dying alone, missed youth experiences, substance abuse, suicides, increased poverty and homelessness, suppression of free speech, censorship of science, disruption of supply chains, government agencies used to oppress small businesses, restriction of religious gatherings, travel disruptions, isolation protocols, modeling over actual data, quarantines, lockdowns, contact tracing, and global harm of the economy that most impacts the working class, vulnerable and poor.

We wish masks worked.

But they don’t.

At least, not the cloth and surgical masks you see in the public arena. They litter the landscape and waterways. They are difficult for people with disabilities and small children. It promotes natural germaphobe tendencies and indoctrinates the young to see their fellow humankind as a sack of germs.

There have been many randomized controlled trials (RCT) and meta-analysis of previous studies that suggest that masks do not work to prevent influenza- like illnesses, or respiratory illness transmitted by droplets and aerosol particles – like Covid. This knowledge was the basis for the WHO and CDC recommending against the public wearing masks in the spring of 2020. It was repeated by authorities and experts at every level.

Dr. Jerome Adams, the Surgeon General tweeted, “Seriously people – STOP BUYING MASKS! They are NOT effective in preventing the general public from catching Coronavirus”

Dr. Anthony Fauci told 60 minutes, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask”.

In April, the New England Journal of Medicine wrote: “we know that wearing a mask outside of health care facilities offers little, if any protection from infection”.

What changed? Well, it wasn’t the science.

All studies are not equal. The gold standard of medical evidence comes from randomly controlled studies. Recent observational studies that were used to support mask mandates were poorly designed for confounding factors, carried out in medical environments, and then, impressions were extrapolated to the general public. Studies that evaluated the viral exposure of mice in a cage covered with mask material vs. caged mice without a mask cover does not seem to translate well to a world of humans who use their hands. In contrast, a recent Danish mask study of the general public that was performed in a prospective, randomized fashion did not endorse the current majority narrative and was vigorously criticized and suppressed by some.

A new drug, medical product or procedure would never be approved based on this type of evidence.

Logic argues against mask effectiveness. The size differential between viral particle or droplet size expelled from the human respiratory tract compared to the filter size of surgical or cloth masks is substantial. If you read the fine print on most consumer masks, one will likely read a statement such as this; “not intended for medical purposes and has not been tested to reduce the transmission of disease”.

The best studies are outcome based and measure “patient oriented evidence that matters.” A pharmaceutical company may show their statin drug greatly reduces cholesterol and science can show a correlation between cholesterol and heart disease. So, the obvious premise is that lowering cholesterol reduces risk of heart attacks.

Except it doesn’t. At least not for primary prevention in patients without preexisting vascular disease. It is why you must do the study. Does the intervention work in real world conditions?

In August, Pew Research reported that 85% of Americans said they wore masks in public all or most of the time. If this is so, and if masks are effective, why has the incidence of SARS-Cov-2 increased so rapidly? Why is there not a favorable correlation between mask usage and disease transmission in countries and states with different mask policies?

If masks and lockdowns work, why don’t they work?

The graph below shows the daily number of deaths per million in the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Sweden from March to December. The number to the right reflects the percentage of the population that report wearing a mask in public spaces. Sweden has the lowest number of deaths per million in this comparison despite only 7.7% of the surveyed population reported wearing a mask. For those who argue that Norway, Denmark and Finland have lower mortality rates than Sweden. They would be correct, but these countries also have much lower rates of mask use compared to other European countries (less than 50%). Masks have been oversold as a solution.

Dr. Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s state epidemiologist said, “face masks are an easy solution, and I’m deeply distrustful of easy solutions to complex problems”. He was right. Sweden now (1/23/2021) has fewer deaths per million people (1086) than the United States (1284). In fact, they have a lower death rate than 30 of our states. History is replete with examples when politics or religion meddles with science and adversely impacts solutions. Dr. Martin Kulldorff has argued against widespread public mask mandates from the beginning. He is a professor at Harvard Medical School and a leader in disease surveillance methods and infectious disease outbreaks. He describes the current pandemic policy of COVID lockdowns and mask use this way; “after 300 years, the Age of Enlightenment has ended.”

At this point, many do not need an expert opinion to trust their own intuition and lying eyes that masks are not working. Everyone wants to mitigate the transmission of the virus, but let’s focus on what works.

But, wearing a mask is so easy to do. Can’t you just shut up and wear the damn mask?

Why are we poking this tiger, this mask issue now?

Because there is mass hysteria, and many are blind to it.

Because it’s an irrational and divisive policy when unity is required more than ever.

Because evidence should matter.

Because in 2019, if we saw a father struggling to muzzle a terrified, crying 2-year old child on a plane with a cloth, we would report them to authorities for possible child abuse. In 2021, we kick the whole family off the plane unless the father is successful in his efforts.

Because of a young man with autism who is unable to tolerate a mask on his face is publicly shamed.

Because the masks offer a false sense of security and may adversely impact more important public health mitigation measures.

Because our local high school cross-country teams should not be running the trails wearing masks.

Because the Oregon Board of Medicine suspended the license of a physician who objected to this policy.

Because one of the greatest losses in this pandemic has been the loss of credibility of organizations for whom we held in high regard. Organizations such as the CDC, WHO and Public Health Organizations that need to maintain the trust of the citizens.

Because it is increasingly apparent that the basis for the mask mandate is not medical, but political.

Because fear and panic should not prevail over actual evidence, even when many powerful institutions have expended so much political capital promoting the wrong policy.

We wish masks worked.

We wished we didn’t have to fight about them.

But they don’t.

And we do.

Tim Powell MD

John Powell MD

If you want to see more graphs, we have included them below as well as a video demonstration.

In September 2020, the CDC acknowledged that SARS-Cov-2 could be spread in an aerosolized manner. Masks are ineffective against this mode of transmission. Early in this pandemic, some physicians showed video evidence of how masks might work as a source control for droplet transmission of COVID-19. Unfortunately, this is not the case for aerosolized transmission of viruses as demonstrated in the video link below.

Those statements by Jerome Adams, Fauci and the New England Journal of Medicine were shortly after the pandemic went mainstream. They are taken out of context.

At the time there was an acute shortage of N95 masks which health officials recommended be reserved for hospital use, not mainstream use. This is why they recommended against N95 mask use among the general public for short interactions.

This was also before the role of asymptomatic transmission problem became clear, after which heath officials changed recommendations to universal recommendation for mask wearing in sustained indoor interactions. That is when stay at home orders went into effect and people were making masks out of scrap cloth, bandanas, balacavas, all that madness just to go grocery shopping, before private manufacturers began making masks for general public use.

I'm not saying masks are perfect. The weave is too coarse for an unrestrained virus. The mask is only worn to prevent waterborne transmission when someone coughs or sneezes or shouts.

You need to learn to read better. The article talks about a Pew research poll from August - hardly "shortly after" it went mainstream. The only reason Fauci, et al's, comment quotes from early on are so different is because it was BEFORE POLITICS GOT INVOLVED. Back then, they were giving actual, nearly-accurate MEDICAL advice.

Until the politicians shut them down, and "re-educated" them as to what's good for them and their wallets.

At the time there was an acute shortage of N95 masks which health officials recommended be reserved for hospital use, not mainstream use.

Apples and oranges. The article clearly states "consumer masks", and only mentions N95 masks in a professional hospital environment. And again, their comments were before the politicians started TELLING them what to say.

We wear a mask in the hospital and don a N95 mask, gown and gloves when we see a patient known to have COVID-19....Logic argues against mask effectiveness. The size differential between viral particle or droplet size expelled from the human respiratory tract compared to the filter size of surgical or cloth masks is substantial. No...that's what "SIX FEET" is for. That's what UV (ultraviolet light - otherwise known as SUNLIGHT) is for. That's what common manners are for - cover your mouth, don't spit on people, give people 'personal space'. No more virus travels on water droplets than in the air, and gaps around masks along with compound use and lack of sterilization (i.e. the virus BUILDS UP in the mask) make them basically worthless, medically-speaking. Politically, though? Some people are using them to great advantage.

This...is a VIRUS. It's nothing new. We have survived for millenia with them, and they actually make our species stronger. All this hiding, sheltering, avoidance, and fear is going to end up killing more people than the virus itself because it will make us as a species MORE susceptible to disease. Our immune systems will be weakened through LACK of exposure.

Do some medical research. Learn how viruses work. Learn how the human body works. Learn how we - NATURALLY - fight off disease. Maybe once you understand how our bodies and our systems work, you'll have a better understanding of why this is all such bullshit. And why the CDC/W.H.O. party line is such bullshit.

This is not about a virus.

My post was only to put the context back into the statements made by health officials early in the pandemic.

We both agree masks are not intended to stop transmission, only to slow it down. So yes, the pandemic goes on, but at a slightly slower pace, even with mask wearing. If you prefer to keep a 6' distance from everyone else that slows things down too.

The masks with the Claymore instructions protect you from people getting close, so they are very effective at preventing disease transmission.

I've worn my HJC modular helmet in stores, even asked if it was acceptable, ( yes, sure ) and since the Governor's Whim is "face covering" not any health or safety requirement, I actually have quite a bit of freedom in my choices & still be in compliance.

I've got a fencing mask I keep meaning to wear to the store just for giggles. I would wear a paper spit diaper underneath just in case of Karens or stupid cops.

I've been meaning to have made a solid face plate for my late 14th century reproduction Bascinet helmet.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bascinet

Not for this reason, admittedly, but for fencing. "Pig face" and "dog face" the cartoon cone & rounded arrow deflector, were most popular, back in the days of Damsels and Towers, but I was going for a Bee face, with bulged, faceted, pierced ocular. And pierced breath holes in a stylized bug face pattern on a rounded Simpson Venom look mouth/chin. Holes small enough in 16 ga. 316 Stainless steel to be Olympic Fencing rules legal.

Monsters and animals were often used in face armor designs. Samurai were really into demons, but my gear is European. Personalized and awe/terrorizing gear is useful and stylish. : )

The fencers we play with vary from novices, with poor control, to Olympian medalists, so safety is a real concern. And, yeah, they'd make fun of you on ESPN, but none of those idiots have someone trying to stick a sword through your skull.

Also, a mail ( chain mail in incorrect popular vernacular ) hood, coif, actually, should be on my shopping list. I'm far too lazy to knit one myself, and I know an artisan that makes fine mesh welded ring stainless shirts/coifs/etc. Not cheap, but finely made.

My sister bought a knee length mail shirt and uses it for fencing over her "street clothes". It's heavy, but breathes wonderfully, especially compared to an Olympic ghost jacket. ( The white protective fencing outfit you see on tv ) I want one!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_coif
It occurs to me a coif warn backwards with a paper or cloth mask underneath to protect from beard hair pulling, would be "whim legal" and if worn under a hoodie, seriously frightening to some. ; )

I don't want "F&%$ Cuomo" on my face. Oh, I'll say it out loud, but no need to offend mothers who don't want to answer questions from kids about profanity!

So, how to parody, mock, ridicule, and otherwise amuse yourself? Why live in a perpetual rage?

Life has handed you a Mandated Canvas by the Whims of the Wannabes so use your imagination!

Sure Governor/Mayor X is authoritarian slime, but until they get put up against the wall by the Mob, you're stuck with this obedience conditioning exercise for another fracking Year, at least.

So wear your sheep disguise where appropriate, and use the opportunity for expression, where you like!

Tyrants fear laughter.

Give others joy, and remind them how silly their would be gods really are.

Open to suggestions.

And, yeah, I really do & will wear a full face helmet into stores. Heck, let's start a trend!

The mask I wear is just the mask cover, I couldn't find the filter element for it. The older half wears a folded over bandana which is mostly ridiculous but they seem to be enough to keep most people a comfortable distance away from us.
I only had 1 issue standing in an enormous line to get into IKEA where some lady thought by breathing down my neck she would get into the store a little faster. I asked her to please keep her distance and she got mad and freaked out, but she did keep her distance after that.

Absolutely correct.

A Year Ago, when this mask craze started in the U.S. I predicted the Japanese mask habit would be the style for YEARS. Looks like I was right.

Don't bother bitchin that masks don't work, that use on Japanese trains hasn't seriously changed the stats on disease control. You're right. So what?

Yes, authoritarian monsters are conditioning the sheeple. Duh.

Yes, the statistics are poorly done lies an unknown percentage of the time. Write a paper! There might be a few colleges left that aren't Woke Indoctrination Camps.

Not to nitpick, but you do realize if a host (person) has a virus in their system, it comes out in BREATH, as well as coughs and droplets? And as any of these smoke-tests show...that goes right through these cheap pieces of cloth we're forced to plaster on our faces.

An old bandana ain't gonna do dick.

And, we know this.

At least, people who haven't lost the ability for independent thought know this.

True, I alluded to that. The masks we are wearing don't slow transmission as much as the behavioral side effects from wearing the masks. People think I might be sick because I'm wearing what looks like a mask, and that keeps them away from me.
Mostly, unfortunately, as the salespeople who roam around Home Depot still approach me.

Yep. It slows it down though. keeps the cloud-o-doom local, unless you walk, move or take the mask off to eat your pizza.

And realistically, slowing down your crud is all you can hope for. Medically.

All the local nurses hang their paper "public" masks from the rear view mirror to UV clean them.

Heck, I have a beard. There's no real seal, even the close fit I like on the nose to reduce glasses fogging. My beard is my filter element. Not the paper or cloth. That's where the airflow is.

I've been an industrial spray painter, I know all about masks and seals... Only a positive pressure filtered air system is worth a darn against Coronavirus or epoxy paint, and epoxy paint is FAR more dangerous. That full suit and bubble head meme Pete posted above? I want one just for Halloween. And Wal-mart.

The "people of Wal-mart" pics and videos? "Masks of Wal-mart" is just a joke.

I say, take the opportunity to make your Social Statement if you object & don't care to blend in to the lazy Mob. "I ( heart) ROC" masks are popular sellers at the grocery store. Sports teams!

I'd avoid wordy small print that encourages others to lean in close to read, but the Bernie Mittens Meme, or Galactic Cat? absolutely.

My sis, who's talented with the fabric arts, started with an online pattern, then with a seamstress buddy of her's did multiple variations until they got a real good design. It has a pocket to put a paper towel ( blue shop towel works pretty good at stopping, say plaster dust from sanding ) and a length of pipe cleaner sewn into the nose part so you can mold it to reduce fogging. I've got about 4 of them in "hospital worker blue", plaid, paisley, and Formal Tuxedo Black Brocade.

Some pricy Tie company, has patterned fabric masks now, so you can have matching mask & tie. She has several, quite pretty cloth too, and has bought some for her husband.

It's a new market.

I anticipate Burner Phones will also be the New Normal. Think on that. Investment opportunity? Or paranoid rant? Both?

Oooh! Some VERY interesting science there from Israel.

It's possible that the end result of the Coronapanic will be very positive.

Oh, not for the suicides, the beaten children & spouses, the drug addicts, and, lest we forget, the folk who actually die, from the Chinese Communist Disease. ( which, technically, is in the unknown hundreds of millions ) All those folk... SAD.

But we've been on the verge of a breakthrough in viral vaccines, simply a broad spectrum "coat" vaccine that protects against entire families of disease, not just one very specific mutant. It's possible, but honestly a bit unlikely, that the bucks dumped on the problem, and more importantly, the relaxation of strict rules, gets one of these out to us this century.

If we can get THAT, then the ( future, not yet available ) shot for Covid-19 might actually prevent Covid-21 & Covid-19/South African 2020 mutation. Oh, and the common cold.

Meanwhile we'll just have to wait and see how the mRNA vaccines work on a large test pool. The public. So far, no reports of super powers. ( darn it )

Personally, while the Cuomo Homicide Policy For Nursing Homes from last spring should be the focus for criminal prosecution, the people who need to learn what Impale really means are the folk who denied access to HCL and other therapies that could have saved lives, and might save lives, except for reasons of political hatred. I could be wrong, but I feel pretty safe assuming CNN and Congresscritters screwed a lot of people.

Maybe more importantly, I predict the Israel Hating Harris/Biden* Minions may prevent this new Off Label drug from saving lives, just because they Hate Israel.

I hope they're not that petty, vindictive, and willing for you to die as long as they get richer, but you figure those odds.
