Just got a super clean '09 Ss to replace the last one I wore out and will hopefully put another 80k on it! Before the next one....
I'm in the middle of swapping the mods I like, quickshifter, bobbins, steering damper, seat. and NOT swapping the mods I didn't like, crossroads, fender, smooth pegs.

Can't WAIT for the next ride to moms house. last one was 3625.0 miles!

Fur Sur!

EBR on tender, Cr on tender, working on the bride's 1990 1200 Sporty, 12r fintally putting the Ohlins on the rear and an EBR airbox. Since the Flu hit, my 85 FXRS that I bought sits at my buddy's house in quarantine, thanks Cuomo..

Have room in the shop so a new friend who got screwed on an engine rebuild on his 66 Sporty is bringing her over for a compression and leakdown test next week. Damn builder never told him about breaking in a set of new rings and I think he screwed the pooch on a singular ride after putting 5K in it... I might be the new owner for low value if its bad..

And,, it's freakin snowing so Dunop Q3+ and our roads don't mesh, so I sure ain't ridin!

I'm waiting for a buddy to get his gauges back so I can synch the carbs on a '73 Honda I4 I'm rebuilding for another buddy.

While I wait for those, I'm troubleshooting electrical on my 'new' 50-year-old Dodge Charger. Dash lights, horn, and eliminating freakin' WIRE NUTS from the harness under the hood. Ugh. (hey...it's almost motorcycle-related...)

Yay Crusticle! Great idea.

I tracked down a thread that covers how to align my rear trunk lid on the PC800... it's off enuf to aggravate me. In the process of chasing down that info, found another thread that confirms my little rear spoiler was an uber-rare factory farkle OR it's a "Wong Wing", a still rare but reproduction spoiler. Also figured out it'll be tricky to add a luggage rack back there. Might commission a fabricator from work to build one...

Still on the fence deciding whether to sell or keep the old 1977 R75/7. I know it'll be a good amount of work/time/$$$ to do her justice, none of which I have in abundance. Also know how rare these bikes are, getting more so as time passes. I acquired the bike for super good $, so it wouldn't hurt that way to sell her, but- I'd be extra sad.

2021. I may get me a D/S bike, or maybe a Jon boat. If I score the job I want, maybe even an E-bike. Looking forward to riding with many of youn's!!

At any rate... Motorcycles!!! If youn's haven't seen this yet, OMG is it a fun video. I'd love to be a buddy of The Doctor...

I put a FH020AA MOSFET voltage regulator on Lil Red. Still need to scrub in the Rosso IIs. I should have rode today. It made it to 51 degrees and sunshine. I am kicking myself.

Xbpete, many years ago GM let some engines out that the rings didn't seat. They poured Bon Ami down the carb while it was running. This broke the glaze and allowed the rings to seat properly. Once the treatment was done the oil was changed. This was in the 50's. Not saying it'll work but it might be worth a try. Then I'd run non detergent oil in it for a while, maybe 100 miles.

Was doing the valve adjustment on my CR the other day and (of course) one of the shims slipped off the magnet and instead of going into its home in the retainer it went in between the coils of the valve spring! So, I'm waiting on the crank locking tool (thanks USPS, 8 days and counting for it to travel 600 miles), so I can pull the cams and try to fish it out. Oh boy.

We hit 62 on tuesday and I rode my FTR about 300 miles, though. Its been about 30F with 30 mph winds since : (

I should have gone out for a ride today. I don't know how warm it got, but it was supposed to be in the low 50s.

Instead, I swapped out the rear fender on the 16. It's now 1/4 of the way to becoming the Gentleman's Express.

I think I'm getting old. It took me all afternoon and my ass is dragging tonight.

But it sure looks pretty!

This thread got me motivated today to hang the spare wheels on the wall of the garage, install the hidden caliper mod, some spools, a steering damper, and a perfect spot to hang the 1/2L spare fuel bottle under the seat rails. man, I am ITCHING for a long ride....

Did a battery check and put the CR on the tender, started and added Sta-Bil to the FXR, and assembled some parts (gaskets, mostly) for the Uly's 120K service - - really been showing it's Harley DNA.

Got new spark plugs in the Uly just in time for a light snow today.
Apparently I need to take longer rides and get the motor hotter, plugs were oily and wet.

The dealership had 3 of the 10R12X plugs so I got an extra.
When I asked for them to order one to make it a pair, I was told they can be ordered but they come in a pack of 25.
Group buy?

Greg- I believe that was on the early 1955 265 CI V-8’s. That was also a factory recommended procedure on Caterpillar Diesel engines in about the same time frame.

DON"T just pour Bon Ami down the carb! It only takes a pinch and you'll hear the engine bog down a bit. I remember that from the 60s when I started working as an Apprentice Operating Engineer. The Master Mechanic on the job was very adamant about that.

Well since the carb is horizontal and not vertical, like on the V8, you can't really pour it in. Revving it and adding a pinch at a time would be more appropriate.
Thanks for the conformation Hugh and Crusty. It sounds crazy but I heard it did work. On an engine you're going to tear apart anyway I thought it was worth a shot. If it didn't work it would be interesting to tear it down and see what it did do.

I had a non operating headlight and horn.With Greg and a few other members help,
traced it down to the grounds at the headstock,problem solved!

Greg... the Bon Ami fix! Wish I could give it a go but here is the problem. My friend got the bike fresh from the builder. zero miles or hours on the rebuild, just fired to set timing then he took the bike. New jugs, pistons and rings were put on her.

So he gets on her and rode the ever loving piss out of her for an hour and parked it. He goes to kick her over later and,,,, nothing!

He kicked her over 300 plus times and not so much as a pop. He called the builder and was told to pack sand... no warranty, but recommended a carb rebuild. Owner "rebuilt" carb and kicked another 100 times without so much as a sputter.

Then she sat.....

Big question mark at this time if I can get her to fire and if she has any compression. I don't have a bore scope ( wish I knew where to borrow one ) but do have compression and leakdown gauges.

Friend sent a message that he has borrowed a trailer and will bring her over later this week,,, will keep yas posted and take pics.

Glitch; Each time I see you. I see noticeable improvement. What's the prognosis? Will you eventually be able to, perhaps, ride a three wheeler; something like a Can Am Spyder, or an old Harley Servicar? Have you recovered enough that you can ride a four wheeler?

When my ankle got crushed, it wasn't clear, at first, if my leg was going to be amputated. I decided that, come hell or high water, I would continue to ride and I started considering a sidecar or a trike.

Is something like that possible for you?

I think back a lot about riding with Glitch. IIRC a good while back he'd mentioned being seizure-free for over a year, which allowed GA to reissue his driver's license... dunno if that applies to a MC endorsement.

We're living with two dogs that suffer from random seizures, both on meds. One dog's episodes have become kind of "routine", as to how they play out. The other's happen much more infrequently, but are much more hellish. The toll that Glitch's affliction has taken on Ann and his family must be awful. To have them worry about road riding again... ?
It'd be a tall order for sure, no doubt. I'm pretty sure he's got the ATV's going out there in the woods.

Well, as far as motorcycles go, I've been lusting after a KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R. It's everything I want in a motorcycle. Ability to do some off-roading, plenty of on-road power, tons of cargo capacity, lots upgrades and modifications can be done to it, and it has strong aftermarket support.

It's what I dreamed the EBR AX would be.

Unfortunately at around 28K fully loaded and accessorized with all I want on it, it's just a dream for the time being.

Oh, sorry there youn's. RD- I've not yet ridden the PC in more than a heavy drizzle, but it was fine- at proper speed it seems I'm in a pretty nice pocket. Mike- yes, I'm still with the powdercoater. ABJ Custom Powdercoating. We did an 1981 Maico motocross frame and parts, customer was very pleased. We see a good number of MC wheels, frames, etc. Recently coated a load of parts for IIRC a 1961 Continental, kind of a bear that one was.
