If you don't like the whooshy sound of a turbo...that's the blow-off valve. The noise comes from routing that to atmosphere. If you want to quiet it, route the output of the valve back into the fresh air filter box and you'll barely hear it. |

Yeah. They say routing to the intake charge pipe helps in response when back on the throttle as well. |

I'm not into the tint. Even if you do a very light tint, it will make a dramatic difference in the temperature of your car when you park it in the sun. And it will help preserve your interior components. |

Yeah I do. I've gotta pop that bumper off and put some closed cell foam under it to fix the droop, too. (Message edited by Rick_a on October 10, 2020) |

The horn is in. It took about fifteen minutes to do, but about two hours to find all the tools and materials 20201014_184045 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr |

That car had the most pathetic excuse for a horn I've heard. I thought about going air horn, but they require some rewiring and tend to only work well in longer bursts...and every one seems to die a rather quick death. I'm tempted to go dual horn...but this isn't bad. |

A good set of air horns will cost you big style. I paid $1800 for a triple train horn back in 2001, but it was worth it the very first time I used it. |

Train horn It was fun reading people's opinions of horns deemed too loud. Most opined that too loud created a startling effect that was not conducive to safer driving conditions. |

I've burned out a couple of Stebels. The dang things work great, until they don't. I'd love to install a train horn on every vehicle I and mine own. To mitigate whether full blast or gradual/legal? perhaps one could devise a timed pressure valve. On the way to HC '10, we stopped at an intersection to wait for Joe. Shell IIRC. A metric tuner car Camry (???) had been outfitted with a real train horn. He'd just cruise through... cloverleaf. Once he saw enough folks... DERRRRRRRP!!! I've been inspired ever since. |

That's unfortunate. I've only used the original horn a few times in the last year. I can usually handle the problem before there's a need. The couple times I have had to use it, I felt a great shame If all else fails I'll use a Denali Soundbomb. |

created a startling effect that was not conducive to safer driving Especially when mounted just behind the passenger side fuel tank, facing straight into the driver window of a car in the blind spot. |

While doing a tire rotation, I found one of the shock dust covers to be broken. It has an area that appears to be a crush zone...and it was crushed. 20201020_144130 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr Of course you have to replace the entire shock. I'll probably upgrade the pair when I can. |

I'm not ready! The stock suspension on Swift springs with rear sway bar and camber bolts is adequate for the street. |

I had the unfortunate experience of finding out what a GA super speeder is. The GF (being her highly supportive self) responded by telling me that I don't posses the skills necessary to drive as I do. So, I'm tempted to get a job at wheel/tire shop just so I can afford a spare wheel/tire set for autocross so I can prove her wrong. But seriously, since I've got the car set up some I don't miss the bikes much at all. (Message edited by Rick_a on October 30, 2020) |

Escort Max 360c and ZR3 laser shifters. Worth their weight in gold. No tickets in 10 years. (Message edited by pwnzor on October 29, 2020) |

The state trooper was in defilade on top of a hill. The legality of such a thing is suspect. They're supposed to be in plain view. I couldn't see him until I crested the hill. Those devices are expensive...but cool. (Message edited by Rick_a on October 30, 2020) |

Law enforcement officers in GA are supposed to be visible from 400 feet when running speed detection devices. The state patrol, however, are exempt. |

And... There are so many overlapping jurisdictions. DPS is also exempt and they have a lot of very low profile unmarked vehicles. So... What's this ticket going to cost you when all's said and done? Laser shifters are the real key to this system. Radio scanners are mostly useless because most departments here are running encrypted digital comms. I got a deal ($200) on the Max360c using some points from my debit card, so it didn't sting quite so much when I laid out another 1700 to add four shifters the the system. The first time the system activated I knew it had just paid for itself. Basically it goes off and you have a few seconds to let off the gas and get down to within 10mph of the speed limit. The coilovers actually play a part, in that they prevent the front end from diving which means the headlights don't dip down. A lot of people set up a brake light interrupt switch, because with an automatic transmission you pretty much have to use the brakes to scrub off enough speed. The shifters need to be shut off before you get too close to, otherwise uncle LEO will catch on to your scheme and pull you over when he is unable to lock you at close range. If he inspects your car and finds the shifter pods he has the option to tow it and possibly make an arrest. Intentional interference with any radio transmission, whether or not THAT signal is illegal or otherwise spurious in some way, is a violation of FCC rules, and therefore a felony. |

That's a lot of work and money to get into a fruitless battle of technology. I have 3 Motorola encrypted Securenet radios in my truck and I'm willing to bet the cop squad has stuff that is light years beyond mine. Best bet is good eyes and I sometimes augment with Waze. I managed to maintain an health 112mph for a bit in Virginia . . . loaded with 6 guitars and 2 cats . . . several months ago. I sometimes "do the math" to remind myself of the folly of speeding . . . I mean REAL speeding. I got nicked a couple weeks ago on I-684 and attribute the USMC Vet license plate on the Porsche for getting a 10 over ticket instead of the 48 over. It cost a few bucks but it was quickly changed to a "parking within 25' of a stop sign . . . I paid the $100 and walked. Leaving in about an hour to make my 23 hour commute but . . . this time I am in no hurry and will run the low risk profile. Understanding your mission profile goes a long way. |

I will amend my previous statement to include that radios are mostly useless in north Georgia. Southern Georgia still has some analog and unencrypted digital going on. EMS systems are still largely analog, so you can still pick up in what's going on if there's an injury or a fire. In many parts of our country a good scanning rig is still a huge advantage. |

This is my first interstate ticket ever. I've been pulled over a couple times previously on the interstate (both in GA. FL state troopers literally don't seem to care unless you're being a total butthole). I normally don't go much over 10mph...but my ex is apparently still feeling the sting of our breakup as she loses her mind over my being late in exchanging our child. Atlanta traffic is always shockingly erratic and often times slow. |
