I dunno about anyone else, but every day I get my head off the pillow lately it's gotten harder to then get my chin up. Most everyone here has a great mind for humor and happy things- case in point, the happy dog bombing the leaf piles. I adopted the sweetest little Pocket American Bulldog last Tuesday. She's the runt of an undersized litter. Only a year old, she has tons of energy, is a jumper, and loves giving kisses. A bit of a handful yes, but she will mellow a bit after she decompresses and with age. I'd post a picture, but I still haven't learned how to resize them... | ||

I took a three hour ride on backroads today. I took the Anderson Ferry across the Ohio river into Kentucky the just followed the river southwest. After a while, I crossed back over the river into Indiana and took a Scenic River Route back towards home. The temperature was close to 80º F and traffic was light and the roads were very twisty and hilly. When I got close to home, I rode over to Velvet Smoke and got some BBQ Brisket and BBQ Beans and brought them home with me for an early dinner. Life really is Good! | ||

There are several dog breeds I've never heard of, adding that one to it. So, I'm guessing a shrunken American Staffordshire Terrier, kinda?? Dang cute, more pics phleeze. Here in the Knoxvegas area, our NBC affiliate has produced a local to Knoxville and Appalachian lands show called "The Heartland Series", hosted by Bill Landry. For years this fella has essentially documented life here, the old-timers, and SO much more good stuff. If I could acquire the entire series on DVD I would. Watched that a while earlier this evening. Every episode, true balm for the soul. Put up the yard tools, getting ready for a pretty bad storm heading this way. At 9PM EST on the Circle network there will be a "live" concert with Vince Gill and his wife, Amy Grant, and some of their kids performing. A few days ago I watched Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, and Brad Paisley do a similar show. Great stuff. In the meantime- I posted this somewhere else, but it works very well here IMHO. Sheryl Crow singing backup. Saw her years ago in Nashville, saw Lukas not long ago backing up his dad. And, yes, I'm doing what they say. Oh heck, here he is with the old man! | ||

So... I started a new job on March 16th... and I have been working from home for most of it. Had a total of four days in the office since then. But I am so so so grateful to be employed, healthy, and making good money. I spent four and a half years at a toxic job... and now I am free!!! | ||

I have been volunteering my time helping our school pass out sack lunches to the students. I really just go open up the Park District building so the school staff can get in they need to use the facilities. When my phone company, Visible, found out they sent me a 250.00 Amazon gift card. I was so shocked I think my jaw dropped to my ankles. I don't do it for the recognition or compensation,but they sure made my day. (Carol) | ||

Good on you, Carol! Work like that truly makes the world go 'round. Very nice digs, Char! I like your co-worker too! Always loved calico kittehz. Glad you're doing well, friend. Now, referencing that Lukas Nelson song above, here are all my "babies"... nothing but heirloom tomatoes and peppers, plus some artichokes, oddball carrots and a few wasabi radishes. We use Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, go check out www.rareseeds.com for a good time! I spent over $50 this year on new seed from them. They're got vegetables and stuff you'd never imagine, fantastic stuff. Gonna run the tiller today, get things going. Oh, and those trees in the background are my baby cherry trees I transplanted a couple of years ago- they're looking awesome. Last year their "mommy" tree threw about 30-35# of cherries. Plus my muscadine vines on the fence look pretty happy. Bluebird house on the far corner on my fence.  | ||

Thanks for the report, Mike. My best buddy went on a ride through the Dragon, and as I remained home, I listened to gobs of folks out riding. Had a great, beautiful day here, less productive than I'd hoped due to flapping my gums and fiddling fingers, but, such is the world nowadays. Hoping to run the tiller tomorrow- no, I WILL get that done. My workplace (no worky) has offered free Sunday dinner to all crew, two salads (CAESAR!), and what is called a "steak skillet". Given that it's Fleming's, my boss/chef/sommelier/cicerone is preparing it, it'll be nice not to cook for a night. Here's wishing you all well, and peace. | ||
