Comeback in better times...... we’ll feed you and give you a proper tour ...behind the scenes.....of Columbia.
Fun place to teach.
First school in America to confer an M. D. Degree Suspended instruction for the Revolutionary War Still houses (at least parts of) Fermi’s Cyclotron....home of the “Manhattan Project”
(Note: project was moved under the stadium in Chicago in fear of NYC being bombed. Pearl Harbor was bombed t(e day following the move.)
As you head south DO NOT let the signs along I-81 south of Staunton, VA persuade you into believing that Smiley's (Raphine/Whites Truck stop exit 205) has THE BEST BBQ, THEY LIE!!!! I should know, I have been working just off that exit for a few years now and haven't found at time of day yet where it gets any better than good.
Howard, you've got that right... I'm kinda partial to places that aren't in existence anymore, like the one that was on Lucy Lane across from Wal-mart, and Franks for the Memories in Buena Vista. Now I'm hesitant to recommend any place in the area...
If I was headed down I-95 I would take a 20 minute side trip down Rt.460 to Cowlings Barbeque (460 east headed to Suffolk). However I see they are not open today.
Yes, we're on I-95 and decided to go to the Baltimore harbor for some fish.
We found that Nick's Fish House was open for take out, and with very little convincing we were able to get served on the patio (in to-go containers, because they're not supposed to be serving seated customers)
First time eating here, and I highly recommend it. The house made tartar sauce is excellent. The fish was delicate and crispy. The fries were the perfect thickness to complement the fish.
Note: on their menu when they say "chips" it means house made potato chips, which I am sure are very good, but we did not try them. What you see in the pictures are "Chesapeake Fries"
I'm uploading some videos of how deserted the streets are in New York, and I'll post those up shortly.
Man, does that fish look delectable! Why is it impossible to find a fish fry in the South?!?! Man, I want to pick up my monitor and out that fish into my mouth!
It is UNREAL seeing NYC like that! Essentially a ghost town...
Although there is a similarity to the current day to my last visit to NYC - a shortage of toilet paper! Remind me - or Court - to tell you sometime...
