And also fake. The car will not operate while charging. I’ve also never seen one of those diesel generators blow soot like that. A for effort, F for realism. Teslas run on coal and natural gas, not diesel generators. I’m sure there are one-offs. What a horribly inefficient way to charge, though. | ||

I see the point in the Tesla meme, though - they don't run on unicorn farts, the electricity has to come from SOMEwhere and generally that involves the burning of some sort of fuel. | ||

There's an Aussie who used a Honda Generator in a small trailer to run across the Continent with his electric car. Predates Tesla by a lot of years. Sure it's fake, but a funny one. Good to know they won't run while charging, thanks. local Teslas are powered by Niagara Falls, a light water nuclear reactor, and a garbage incinerator. Hah! Beat that!  | ||

Yes. Coal and natural gas. Some nuclear. Oil fired plants are still out there, too, but not many. Internal combustion generators are pretty much only used as standby because they start quickly. Boilers are much more efficient. Did you know that there is so much natural gas being produced, as a side effect of oil production, in Colorado that they’re flaring it off? Nowhere to store it, no customer for it. We’re sitting on more oil/gas than Saudi Arabia. Still, i sure wish it could be used, rather than wasted. |
