It's a rhetorical question, but I'm pretty sure I answered it already. I am okay with being judged guilty because even if I knew everything a mortal could know, that is less than what an all knowing deity knows. |

Gerard, If you'd be judged guilty, and if justice requires the guilty go to Hell, does that concern you? |

It sounds like it does, but you've fashioned an objection that concerns nothing like what God is about when it comes to your destiny. >>> guess I want to avoid living my life as building a resume for getting into heaven because I'm afraid of missing the forest for all the trees in the way. Good news! You agree with Christ! You cannot avoid the righteous judgment of God through any such endeavour . The ONLY way is to repent and trust in Christ, which means to sincerely repent and to love your God and Creator above all else. Yet it is so very difficult for us to love the Good. Because we are not good, and we tend love that which is not good. We lie, cheat, steal, blaspheme, etc. Our penalty has been paid, if only we'll accept it. Just like the rest of us, you're guilty, but the good news is that your creator has himself paid your penalty. |

Yes, I am concerned, but I find it more productive to channel that consternation towards learning and doing the right things. I'm not ruling out ever repenting, it's just not sincere at this point. If I did it here and now it would more likely be because I wanted some kind of favor from the webpage or some other deception, and my superego tells me that's a perfect way to spoil a potential friendship maybe twenty years down the road so I can't do it yet. |

"maybe twenty years down the road so I can't do it yet." H0gwash,- You do realize that you could take your last breath tonight. Hogs, >>> I'm not ruling out ever repenting, it's just not sincere at this point. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I just never had the guts to say it so openly to anyone at the time. It does seem though, in general, that the longer a person goes avoiding such a reckoning, the more unlikely it becomes short of some shock to the system, a life altering event. Pondering ultimate destiny and eternity is no trivial adventure. I hope you'll keep thinking on it and find your way. The immediate on-the-spot conversions are most often false conversions. So I'm with you. It's foolish to fake it. I almost died three times. Call me stubborn. Never had any kind of miraculous born-again moment. I just prayed and prayed to be shown the truth. Even then I was stubborn. Pray, pray, pray for repentance... May your journey be fruitful and may it lead you to goodness and truth. Thanks for putting yourself out there, here. I appreciate most of your contributions on the ol' BadWeB. |
