It'll be next year for me, but if anyone heads down TN411 into Madisonville, Benton's is where I get those dogs. 25 in a half case, about a dollar a dog, well worth it! Alan Benton's smoked meats are the best in the biz. FWIW he gets his dogs shipped in from a place called Fischer's, out of Louisville KY IIRC.
You guys have fun and stay safe! Vern and I will see youn's in 2019.
I'm not gonna be able to make it to Buelltoberfest next week, but we did manage to find a room at the Skyline Village Inn (home of the yearly Buells in the Alps meet) this week so we're headed up there tomorrow for a few days (Tuesday through Saturday).
If anybody is looking for a pre-Buelltoberfest outing, drop by and see us.
In ten days, I'm going to climb on the Roadster and point it south; steering for Suches, Georgia. I really shouldn't, but that makes it all the more enjoyable!
Really? Wow. Here, the forecast is for partly cloudy and a high of 53. For Suches, the forecast for both Thursday and Friday is Clear with a high of 65

It is sleeting outside. Its 56 degrees out there. Bunch of family is going out to eat tonight. Then there is supposed to be a bonfire. Looks like a wet bonfire. Won't be any fire pit Jenga there.
Well I'm cleaning and packing today. The boys will be here early tomorrow to install my french doors in my basement. As the temperature drops it will be nice to have insulated and lockable doors in place of 1/2" plywood! Tuesday will be mowing grass and the final packing for an early Wednesday start. When Crusty rode Hwy. 50 to Colorado he told me of all the construction. As I look at Google Maps there's still red zones all over it so I'm just going to set the cruise control on 75 and bonzai my way to his house. See you all soon!
Be safe Greg! I'm SO wishing I could make it, but hey, life. Matthew, I hope you get the peace you're looking for- TWoS camping will surely be a balm to your soul. I was going to harsh ya about carting in everything by car, but if you're hauling in campfire cooking stuff, more power to ya.
I had a great buddy, now dearly departed, who said there's a spot that's perfect to pitch a tent- right next to the first foot bridge. The creek babbles just right, no better sound to sleep at night. Check it out.
Working on Lil Red. Little things. Harness to hold phone in dry box on tank...done. Suspension set-up for luggage weight...done. Tires aired up for lower temps 34 & 36 psi front & rear @ 59.2 degrees...done. 2 ounces of oil added to swing arm. Beads mounted on seat...done. Side cases loaded and weighed @ 30 pounds each...done. I re-welded the side case's mounting brackets with 4 short rods to triangulate the mounts where they cracked earlier in the year. The mounts are so tight now the pins are very snug going in. Looks like I can get 37 degrees of lean before touching the corners on the ground. Should be plenty as I ride conservative with the bike loaded. I'll pick up a new sticker for my plate in the morning.
Oil & filter changed in engine and Transmission, tire pressures checked and adjusted and new spark plugs installed. The Roadster is ready. Now I just have to pack my stuff. I won't put it on the bike until Wednesday, though.
Greg's arriving here on Wednesday, then it's Woot's for dinner Wednesday evening. Thursday, we'll be Southbound. Directions are simple. Take I-75 to Exit 60 in Tennessee onto Rt 68. Rt 68 turns into Rt 60 at the Georgia border, then 60 takes us right to TWoS. Google says it's exactly 400 miles from my house to TWoS. I'll have to check my odometer and see if it's right.
I like taking that route because I get to ride through both Turtletown and Ducktown.
Speaking of turtles, I have to put a Turtle Pin on my new jacket. I'd better do it now before I space it out again.
