Norton, Triumph Tiger and Royal Enfield all appeal to me. Might have to start a Go Fund Me page to fill the living room with bikes.

If this frame wasn't chrome...

I see Harley finally got around to creating an entirely new model... a softail with machined wheels. Let's call it an FXSTIMW and have a big debut for such a big break from tradition.

Some good looking motorcycles here

Me, I LOVE that new retro-cafe version of the Kawasaki Z900RS. Just not a fan of Kawasaki's "Corporate Green" color. They should offer this in the original GPZ Red, white and blue!

I was a big fan of the ZRX1100 back when I was shopping in 2000.
It was between the Bandit1200, the X1 and the ZRX.
Want to guess what brand let me take a test drive?

Let me see; that Harley has a new frame, much better suspension, weighs 35 pounds less than the previous Softail, a better and more powerful engine and all you can see is the new wheels and use that as excuse to dump on it? Meanwhile you gush over a retro styled Kumensukmi.

No prejudice here. Move along, folks; move along.

LOL...

The Kawasaki will never have to go to the shop. For anything. Ever.

Just saying.

I didn't make any disparaging comments about any of the Harleys. But they're NOT "Nostalgia machines" to me. When I started riding, that Kawasaki was what bikes looked like. My first bike was a 1982 Yamaha XJ550RJ SECA which looked very similar to the Kawasaki. In fact, I was torn between the SECA and the GPz550, but the fact that the Yamaha dealer had the SECA on the floor, and the Kawasaki dealer had to order the GPz sealed it for me.

By the way, it's also the reason I always preferred the look of the M2 Cyclone over any of the newer Buell bikes. It just looked "right" to me (especially once I removed that rural mailbox that hung on the right side).

That is a lie.

After having worked in both Harley/Buell and multi line powersports dealers, the Japanese bikes have a little less recall and a lot more service bulletin and warranty service.

No machine is infallible. The difference is that most people abandon the Japanese hardware either at the first major service or first sign of trouble.

A lot of long in the tooth Japanese motorcycles have suffered the same ills for decades. People just accept it without complaint.

When one rides an expensive chrome barge, the slightest issue gets blown into personal butthurt of epic proportions.

Attitude is everything.

The look in the faces of some people confronted with the impossible reality that Hondas can in fact break down was always a curious thing.

...because most Metric hardware retails in the sub-10k price range...it's the "disposable/just get a new one" mentality.

EVERYTHING breaks. If it was bolted together by a human...it'll break at some point, somehow.

I made sure I kept lifetime medical coverage on my rebuilt legs, come insurance settlement time. I could have had quite a bit more money in-hand, but it was worth it to me to know I'm covered...well, forever. Two rods, a plate, and a hinge...and I have no desire to sit patiently and wait for old age. I'm sure I'll need a tuneup at some point!

I'm anxious to see the new Gold Wing, and the new Venture. Both show serious potential.

I keep things forever. Eventually stuff fails, wears out, leaks, and breaks. If it moves, takes a load, seals something, or holds something together it can and will be a source of trouble at some point.

Most models also tend to depreciate greatly in no time.

That is a lie.

Poor choice of words on your part.

Your experience in whatever dealerships you worked in notwithstanding, my experience has been that Japanese bikes are absolutely much more reliable in both the short and long term.

I flog the piss out of my bike, rev it hard, run it fast. My valves are still within spec and I have ZERO problems.

My Buell and my Ducati were both problematic.

That's no lie.

Definitely not my experience.

They both have regular problems for various things. The Buell and Ducati issues are admittedly more frequent but also more predictable. The import bike issues can vary wildly depending on the model, but tend to be niggling things. The assertion that there will never be a problem is frankly ridiculous.

Most every model of import bike has issues that can creep up on higher mileage models. Most every one has a weakness of some sort that goes unresolved through many years of production. Driveshaft on this model, starter sprag on another, output drive gears on this one, final drive bearing on another, leaking coolant between cylinders after several years, leaking cam covers, early rectifier and stator failures, etc.

My own Suzuki has known problems with cam cover, cam chain tensioner, and base gasket leaks, blown output shaft and shift shaft seals, loose neutral switch screws catastrophically damaging motors, solid starter clutch used for a couple years cracking crankcases, 3rd gear failures exploding engines, and prematurely worn cam followers.

McDonalds color scheme? I'd paint one rim red and one rim yellow.

I paid 200 to 700 for most of my bikes till I was out on my own. Then I bought my first new one.

I liked how MY excitement built thru your pix on Adv Riders.

Been a while since a Harley spoke to me.

I DID get the plugs changed on my Westwind and went for a "spirited ride".
It now sounds like a well tuned Harley.

I like that Fat Boy, but "those pipes gotta go", most common words at the Harley shop...

I'm really digging the pipes on that H-D bike above.
I wonder if twinkies' cam shafts, chains, and bearings still take a dump under 50,000 miles.

$35,000 for the Norton V4.
Might as well order the carbon fiber wheels and race kit while I'm at it...

https://newatlas.com/norton-v4-rr-details-specs/46 484/

Here's a teaser for Norton's upcoming 650cc bike due out next year:
Garner said: “We are targeting 100kg and 100bhp so it should go and handle a bit like an old 250 GP bike.”

I was wrong about the frame being chromed; according to that article it's polished Al.

I love the proportions of that tail section.

I have a space in my garage but the wallet is a little flat at the moment.
It's just astonishing how far motorcycles have come over the years.

No love for the new KTM 790 Duke?

When I was bike shopping this summer, I thought long and hard about this bike, which had only been revealed in prototype form at that point. Now that the production model has been revealed, but with a mid-2018 availability date, I’m glad I opted for the EBR 1190SX.

A buddy had the Honda Sabre. Great bike, turbine smooth, great power. Every one I've seen had the dashboard, a LCD panel, die.

When the 500 cc sporty version came out, they had crank failures. Cycle magazine had their demo bike engine fail, and then the second one failed, and then Honda started hand measuring every crank and custom fitting the bearings. And many of them failed.

My Sabre riding buddy had a neighbor buy the V65 Magna. Rode it 20 miles home from the dealer than tried a burnout in the street in from of my buddy's house. Engine exploded. ( I call that owner stupidity ) I pulled half a con rod out of the asphalt in the middle of the oil pond. Then we swept up the shattered aluminum from the cases and threw kitty litter on the oil.

I assume they don't do that often anymore. It was a great engine in the V45.

My Yamaha 750 triple was famous for transmission failures. Mine worked great but the next owner beat on it and it died.

Any machine can fail. Ask NASA.

Generally speaking when I had a bike need to be fixed, I did it myself. I did a leaky rocker box gasket on my Cyclone. Shims on my GS1100. Rings and honing on my GT380, more than once. I lost track of the times I fried it.

The GT380 went to a brother of a room mate, and he took it apart to "fix it", even though it ran fine, and last I saw it was in boxes. My GS750 was a head ported beast, ran awesome, and the Other brother bought it, and took it apart... Never saw it run again. ( I'm thinking this is Owner ego error and not the bike's fault ) The GS1100 went to the room mate and he did NOT take it apart, I assume it still runs.

Or maybe I just use them up. : )

My last Ford van went to a buddy, cheap and he drove it until the frame rotted, which was more miles and years than I put on it and it was rusty then. He also bought my '79 Dodge, drove it until it was completely used up, and sold it to a guy for near nothing with the advice it was almost dead. Lasted One week.

Not to say it's a Bad Idea to buy a machine from me, ; ) my Cyclone is pretty mint and runs great.

The Roommate mentioned above, however....

His Father restored a Triumph TR-3, Great fun, drag your knuckles on the ground kinda car. ( and with 2 big guys, your outer arms tended to be outside the car ) Sold it to a fellow who ran it into a bridge on a curvy road at night in the rain. I was with the tow truck that went to haul it away. After they poured the driver out of the wreckage. Unrecognizable.

His son, my roommate, had a Fiberfab Banshee kit car body on a TR-4 chassis that was actually a spare for the Factory race team. Professionally hopped up engine with a Paxton blower. Corvette windshield with Jaguar 3 blade wiper system, Triumph GT-6 rear hatch, full roll cage with fire extinguisher, Datsun 240Z rear tail light panel. ( which looked better than the Fiberfab tail, believe it or not )

https://www.facebook.com/caribeebanshee/

He took it with him to Ft. Devons MA when he was in the Army, got a few tickets, then sold it to a local who..... drove it into a Bridge, fatally.

I won't buy cars from that family. Not that I believe in curses. The cars were running perfectly and safe when sold. Just the kind of cars that kill their owners.

Like a Kawasaki 2 stroke triple... I had one of those too......
