At the assembly plant I stayed as far from the wire install jobs as I could. I considered them the hardest jobs there. You get a stiff bag of spaghetti to unfold and thread through little holes and attaching to all kinds of connectors and tie-downs. Worse if you are a repairman fixing pins in connectors while hanging upside down in the auto body while it is bouncing down a line.

Yeah, after years of building theatre dimming and control systems (my last couple big projects were the Pentagon renovation - there's four live theatres in there, if I remember correctly! - and doing all the dimming and control for the WW2 memorial on the DC mall)...I'm not a fan of wiring troubleshooting.
I'm good at it...but I don't like it.
At the risk of jinxing myself...I think it's fixed for good. Had a show last night which required the truck to haul the gear. It sat outside in freezing weather, no block heater, from 5 till 1:30. Fired right up for me; usually cold was its achilles' heel, and this tells me I should have it licked.
Now to tackle a valve adjustment. 244k miles, *I've* never done one, not sure when/if one was done before I bought it...

OT, but my friend bought this train set from the builder's widow with no wiring diagrams and very little works! He has figured out about 20%.

You gotta do that when you have an intermittent issue.
I was so happy when I got an oscilloscope with logging ability(early 80s) for chasing those gremlins.
That train-set looks like it's own retirement hobby!

My dad's HO layout rivals that. He used to work at Digital as field service guy and so he has a lot of odd stuff on his.
He simplified matters by going to command control though. One polarity of 12VDC goes through the rails all the time.
This power supply used to run an RM05 disk drive I think. It weighs close to 100# due to it being a LINEAR supply with an actual boat anchor transformer.
I keep telling him to go over to a modern switchmode since they are cheap and easy now.
His counter arguement is "I broke my balls to get this thing up three flights of stairs, I am NOT taking it back down!"
