Yeah... I love blowing shit up. Blew my own shit up at age 11, when a 10 shot Roman candle I was holding blew the last shot backward down the sleeve of my Davy Crockett jacket, fireball burned out in my armpit. Spent New Years that year in the hospital driving the nurses batty...

Tomorrow I gotta call the vet to consult as to how to calm my littlest doggie, who went through a long, panicked night tonight as someone was shooting big mortars nearby. We already have to medicate him for seizures. I guess I'll dose him with some diphenhydramine.

Be careful, and mindful of those who might not like explosions. I myself do, but...

Oh, and Happy Independence Day! Have a BBQ, some good times, and be careful.

My HOA gave me $2000 to spend on fireworks.

I've got about 35 finale boxes and 120 loose mortars with 24 launcher tubes.

Let's gitterdunnnnn!!!!

About twenty years ago we lived in a subdivision in Fla. My immediate neighbors and I had quite a display many years in a row. Last time I was in it we each spent over $500.00 and had people from all of the local neighborhoods there to watch. We did not have a HOA, but had a formal Neighborhood Watch program.

Someone called the cops in the midst of all of the exploding stuff. We were shooting off stuff that was supposed to be licensed. The police radio went off during a break in the booming. We all heard it. It came from my neighbor's kitchen. The officer was taking his lunch from our free for everyone food buffet.

He said that he liked our neighborhood best. We had a better display and crowd than the local town did. He then went out to his patrol cat, turned on his flashy lights and sped out of our area! Then when the other officers showed up he came in behind them and talked them all into doing a foot patrol through the kitchen for some food and drinks. It was an awesome event.

I got un-involved when too many idiots were showing up to watch, bringing their own stupid little fireworks. Some sent a roman candle fire ball into our set up area. If it had touched off any one of a hundred or more prepared fused items, it would have been a bad scene. Our set up area was inside my neighbors garage that was fifteen feet from my garage.

Have all the fun you want, if it isn't too dry blow some shit up!

I am probably going to drive my Vette in the Gatlinburg parade at midnight tonight with my Corvette club. It is annually the first official parade of the fourth of July in the country.

Fun as hell driving at less than walking speed with the top off and windows down, eye level just feet away from 120,000 of your drunken lawn chair riding friends whom you have never met!

Dang, Matthew! Wish I could be there, buddy! Hope you have dry weather, but not too dry... like Vern said.

One of my favorites is just a simple "Jumping Jack". One year I bought two bricks of them, me and my buddy headed to the lake. I busted out some packs, unwrapped some singles, started throwing. They'd fly, sometimes go underwater...

So, I threw one- it flew, around me backwards, straight into the bag with the rest! Panicked, I ran and glimpsed into the bag- should I kick and dump it, or RUN??!

I yelled "JERRY, RUN!!!!" All of a sudden, the whole side of the lake lit up like daylight! Over one and a half bricks all at once! It was actually worth it! Then I realized that my car keys were in the bottom of the bag- digging through the ashes, a random jack would fire... fun times!

And then there was the time I was cruising with my GF, parked, and a whole mess of firecrackers lit off inside the car...

Glad I'm still here.

Did the Gatlinburg parade with twenty Corvettes from the East Tennessee Corvette Club. Larger, better behaved, younger, more sober crowd than when I did it a couple of years ago.

Out on the lake tomorrow for fireworks. After I work half the day of course!

Happy fourth of July !

On Malcom In The Middle, the boys bought some fireworks, including the comically oversized Komodo 3000.

Happy 4th all!

After one of the wettest winters on record, it is now too dry to shoot off any airborne bombardments. We had to settle for a few dozen packs of black cats and a few pop bottle rockets. Landed them right on my neighbors patio.

Went to a great show last night. Sitting on the beach watching the sun set. Lot's of others partying and having a great time with perfect weather, waiting for the show to start. All of a sudden the PA system is playing the Star Spangled Banner, and the beach got really quite and pretty much everybody stood and faced a flag they set up. It really set a great tone, and was a reminder of what the day was all about. And of course, suddenly there were "bombs bursting in air". There was an air patriotism that I've never seen at a fireworks display before.

I hope the rest of you had a great day also.

Great show here last night. I put a folding chair in my driveway. Neighbors sent up an excellent show. I thought some small town was putting on a display.

Great show here . . . I cruised over to Tanglewood . . . listened to James Taylor sing the National Anthem then do a couple hours of music under a nearly full moon on a perfect night. Bonnie Raitt (their 2017 tour starts in Newark tomorrow) joined him for a couple songs and the show and the fireworks, over Lenox Bowl, were spectacular.

A very patriotic and moving evening.

Early in the day I had the privilege to be invited to the start of a local parade by it's organizer. Once the parade got on it's way, I helped Stan put away his signs and buckets of sand used to hold the signs back at his place. There we settled in for lunch on his deck right on Lake Michigan. He's got an amazing place!

He's go some great stories. On this day I got to hear about how he learned to ride a motorcycle. He was in the Army, stationed in Germany right after WWII ended. He was assigned courier duty, and his Sergent asked if he could ride a motorcycle to deliver some papers. Of course the answer was "YES SIR". He had no clue about motorcycles though and crashed on the bombed out road not far from his base. He found the heavy army bike was to heavy for him to lift by him self and was stranded until a German farmer came along and gave him a hand. He then limped it back to his base to face the wrath of his screw up, but wound up thrilled by being assigned to a Jeep. He's an awesome guy with some great stories to tell.

Yeah, gotta have mustard for them dogs! Plus my homemade relish, not too sweet. The ones I get from Benton's down in Madisonville originate from a place in Louisville KY called Fischer's! They do Chicago style hotdogs, best I've ever had. A few of you had them down in N. GA a while back...
