Went for my 1 year follow-up to the heart catheter we did... so, EKG, treadmill, etc.

News is not very good at all, my condition has worsened, nuclear stress test is next. Then probably another catheter/angiogram or plasty and maybe some stents.

I need this like I need another hole in my head.

Last night they were telling me the Nuke test was subject to a $2000 deductible, but this morning Gretchen called and said all I need is a $55 co-pay.

Thank God for that... I could use a prayer or two on the rest of this mess, if you're so inclined.

Yeesh. Sorry to hear this my friend... after scanning your other thread about work, do remember that stress CAN kill. Take it easy, do what's needed, be healthy and happy in the meantime. I'm thankful that Gretchen just happens to be working in the specialty that you'll be needing.

Before too long, hopefully you and I can both indulge in some of our favorite blood thinner... ; )

Prayers up, buddy.

I was looking at the other thread to. Maybe this is a sign for you to shift gears, stop pushing for more, stay on a good ride where people appreciate you. When these things come up YOU have to change your behavior as much as you want them to change theirs.

Do you want to be a fire cracker for business where if you are gone or used up you are replaced within a week? Or do you want to be the mighty oak for your family and friends into their future and their history?

My very best to you my friend. Mother nature has knocked on this door before. Sometimes it is time to heed the warnings.

Sorry to hear it Matthew. You just have to be glad they caught it rather than you having a heart attack. So many people have no warning at all or ignore the warnings they have.

Remember, risk factors include heredity, physical condition, diet, and stress. You can do something about all except heredity.

Hang in there.

Glad they caught it. Hopefully the tests will come back with better news.
As others are saying, slow down, take a breath.
I lost my first wife to pancreatic cancer seven years ago and last year my current wife had a heart attack. Quad cabbage and a year later she is doing great. Like you, she was in a very stressful job with very little appreciation from management. Her clients were not happy when she decided not to go back to work.
You have so much to look forward to, all our goals is to keep on top of the ground!
Just my $.02 worth.

IMHO you should stay working where you are and take anti stress drugs so you just don't care about being surrounded by mediocrity anymore. I have seen very old super-relaxed people in terrible health outlive younger, stressed out healthier appearing people.

Praying for you Matt. I understand where you are at with the work thing. I will say that I'm thrilled with things having put the stress of a high pressure job behind me. The folks I work for think I'm a rock star with my work ethics. I feel like I just show up on time every day and do the basics. I hope you can recognize when your time comes.

You were probably expecting more of a prayer like and a sympathetic feel from this board in response to your condition. Instead you get unasked for advice from people you thought cared about fellow BadWebbers who are feeling down and out.

Matthew you are young enough to curb these hospital/Dr visits by changing your habits, us older farts see it and are showing you we care in not only in selfishly giving unwarranted personal advice, but sharing things most of us have experienced over the past ten years ourselves.

Just read on another post your preferred morning drink is a Red Bull. That shit and energy shots consumed on a regular basis will blow up the heart of a young healthy individual. I am sure if your docs knew about this they would be on your ass.

Dealing with stress by going faster will just help you reach your end faster. Get off the juice, assess what is important to you, and chill out more. You will say you cannot afford to.....go ahead ask me how I know that.

I am just another BadWebber not afraid to say this simply because I do care.

I value the advice I get here.

The single Red Bull in the morning stands in the place of what was a 4 can per day habit.

It's not ideal, but I am moving toward a cleaner existence.

There is new job information for the other thread, but I am sick of typing on this touch screen so it will have to wait a bit

Caffeine is like speed to me.

A single RedBull will mess me up.

I've learned to only drink half a can a day, but to avoid it altogether, preferably.

Hope it gets better.

Pwnzor, I'm coming to this party a little late but I have always read your posts with interest. On the heart thing, I get it. I've been dealing with heart issues for quite some time and it's scary but I have come to learn it can be managed. I had a friend who told me that he had a bypass (or whatever they did then) in the 1960s, and he just passed away this year shortly after his 107th birthday. I would say it was a successful procedure! Last June, I had a brain hemorrhage that left me with severe double vision. My doctors basically said that it might get better or it might not, but after a year it would be as good as it is gonna get. I was pretty sure I would be selling my 3 motorcycles, and I found life with an eye patch to be way harder than it looks. Things looked bleak for 12 months because I could not drive well enough to commute to my office. But all that time, it was getting better, and I am sitting in my office as I write this (with eye patch, as the computer is still difficult). I expect to continue improving until I can ride again. So, the point is, be positive, be optimistic, don't dwell on it, and listen to your doctors but think for yourself. Try to make time for more sleep and destress, if you can. Good luck my friend.

Definitely not dwelling on it, my only worry is for my family.

That being said, my advanced lipid panel came back clean, the cholesterol meds have been doing their job. I apparently have a genetic predisposition towards plaque build-up.

The nuke test will tell us more, and hopefully eliminate the possibility of a bad valve.

As always, I appreciate the outpouring of concern from my brothers and sisters both here and at large... I'll keep you all posted!

For now, I'm focused on keeping all 10 fingers after tomorrow's fireworks display.

As I understand it, the current thinking is that inflammation has way more to do with plaque build up than does bad cholesterol. Fortunately, a side effect of statin drugs is that they reduce inflammation. Diet and its effect on triglycerides is a big factor in inflammation as well. Hopefully your nuke stress test will answer more questions and your cardiologist can get you straightened out for the long term.
