Dammit 99- but thanks. A great kid, sure hope he pulls through OK. Just wishing for a full recovery, and a good retirement. I don't see him returning to racing after this. |

quote:Below is a statement on Nicky’s condition from the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, Italy. “Nicky Hayden’s clinical condition remains extremely critical. The young man, who is still in the intensive care unit of Cesena’s Bufalini hospital, has suffered a serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage. The prognosis remains reserved.”
OMG. Hope he makes it through.

Life support is needed when you're in a coma for obvious reasons. Its necessary when there is head trauma. It'll let the brain heal, when there's nothing going on, and that will let the brain swelling go down. He'll feel no pain, and will be very disoriented when they wake him up. He'll probably feel like many years have gone by like I did and wonder what hell has happened and why he is where he is. Its the dreaded "wait and see" his family has to go through that will the toughest. From what I gather, he's in the best place he can be for now. My prayers and thoughts are with his family right now, they're the ones going through the most right now just waiting for what comes next. |

... Wow. The first time I read about his accident and the cursory description of his horrible injuries, I hate to say it, but I had a very bad feeling about it all. Been praying every day... now, we put prayers up for his family and fiancée. GIANT suck, craptastic. RIP, Kentucky Kid. |

Tears. And profound lack of understanding of WHY. Sometimes I don't get life, and this is certainly one of those times. Denise and I had the good fortune to see Nicky win his first MotoGP race, at Laguna Seca in 2005. I very-vocally predicted Nicky's win here on BWB. I KNEW he was going to win; there was never a doubt in my mind. Somehow I just knew. These pix (and captions, pulled just now from the Tale Section) are not very good; low res, and not much lens to reach out with. But they're very special to Denise and I. I am so profoundly sad. Lord, with all due devotion and respect, I don't understand WHY. Saturday me 'n D had seats in the turn 11 grandstands, and took good advantage of them. Not many pix, as my camera doesn't have enough lens to do the bikes any justice as they come up to speed on the front straight, but HAD to get this shot of the big screen with Nicky's name on top. Another shot of Nicky on the big screen on Saturday. Anyone who was paying attention here on BADWEB will remember that about a month ago I began predicting that Nicky would leave Laguna with the victory. Don't ask me how I knew, but I KNEW Nicky would finish first. Sunday, race day. Nicky leads the pack out of the Corkscrew and into Rainey Curve. And Nicky leads the scoring tower at the end of 32 laps! WOO HOO!!! NICKY! Nicky takes his dad Earl for a victory lap. Very, VERY cool. Ride in peace, Nicky Hayden. It was an honor, Kid. |

Fudge, fudge, fudge. My favorite rider, ever. Isn't a close second. Loved watching him slide the rear end going into turns. I'm very sad. Heart broken. We lost an awesome rider and an even better person. RIP Nicky. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends. |

Rose, Earl, Tommy, Rodger, Very sorry for your loss. He was just a great guy. I loved watching him the last 15 years. Requium aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen. |
