I'm neither an athlete nor a scientist, but the article does give a rationale based on testosterone levels. If you're born a woman but want to compete with the men, they seem to say go ahead. But if you're born say Bruce Jenner who wants to compete against the women, you have to demonstrate your testosterone level is below some maximum threshold. Apparently, women with unusually high natural levels of testosterone are also an issue. | ||

It's still not fair to the women who have been women all their lives. Current testosterone levels don't obviate the benefits that a lifetime of testosterone have conferred on the used-to-be-male athlete's body. Bone density, stature, active muscle cell ratio, muscle mass...I'm sure there are more. It just doesn't seem fair that a mediocre male athlete can affect womanhood and mop the floor with the competition. Please don't misunderstand, ALL of those female athletes would kick my arse in every event. But I'm not a mediocre athlete. I'm not even a terrible athlete. But Olympic level male athletes outperform their female counterparts consistently. That's why they compete separately. Sure seems like cheating. | ||

Change your name to Bridgette, claim you identify as female and try out for the women's team. Will transgender people be offered scholarships? Be hell to pay if they aren't.
