Just found out my old boss/buddy/brother-from-another-mother got me a pass to the SOLD OUT TED NUGENT show here in little old Mur-vil TN tomorrow nite!!! Playing at The Shed, part of the dealership I worked for for 5.5 years.
I will say he is pretty mild-mannered - or 'mellow' - when flying. I flew from Detroit to Dallas/FTW with the Motor City Madman back in about 2002. Of course he was in first class and I was in coach.
That's true. I met him at a NRA convention and he's truly a nice guy. I just remember many moons ago going to a concert in St. Louis. He came out on stage and said the above statement and there were several mothers grabbing their children and leaving!
I still love the live version of "The Great White Buffalo"!
Just saw him a week ago in Sturgis at the Full Throttle. I have to say he put on the best show I saw there. I could have gone without him turning "Great White Buffalo" into a Trump rally, but Uncle Ted is a firm believer in freedom, and wears his politics on his sleeve. I was just as put out years ago when Christine Mcvie went on about Greenpeace during a Fleetwood Mac show.
I just wish rock stars wouldn't get so bent out of shape when someone uses their songs.( provided the user is paying the record company the appropriate royalties) Once you sell your art to someone else, I don't believe you have control over where, when, and how its displayed.
Someone at work mentioned that he was on Anthony Bourdain's show a while back- I'll have to look that one up!
Been raining cats and dogs so far today- hoping it'll let up so I can roll in easy on the Beemer. It's gonna be SO dang crowded, hate to NOT take the bike. I guess I'll get out the rainsuit if I have to...
Quite a few years back I saw Neugent, ZZ Top and Kenney Wayne Shepard in the amphitheater at the Glen Helan regional park, of AMA and FIM motocross fame.
I believe ZZ was the top of the ticket, but the quality of the talent on stage that night it was hard to tell without a program.
What a show! I tended to just walk around, avoiding the crowd packed around the stage... saw a bunch of old friends and customers, had a great time. The beer lines were so long, I figured to just roll down the highway a mile and back to Dollar General, get my beers, and share with my buddies when I got back.
Teeps- I'd love to see ZZ Top! I've got the next best thing though- one of my best buddies is a sound engineer and a bassist, he worked the sound board last nite for the Nuge- he's also in a ZZ Top tribute band, and they're dead-on right for the sound!
I saw ZZ Top at Arizona Bike week 2015. They sounded great. As god as they every did. Just walked out on stage and said, "Hi, we're ZZ Top". Then they just played for an hour and a half solid.
Last November I saw David Allen Coe at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston. He looked old and worn out. Even needed help getting up on the stage and in place. Once he started playing though, he was great. Instead of an introduction he said "The only person to introduce me was Johnny Cash. If you don't know who I am, then get the hell outta here."
I saw Ted in 73 or 74, he was the warmup for Bad Company. We were still in line to get in when Stranglehold started and could hear it outside the hug brick building. Ted stole the show, Paul Rogers was so stoned/drunk he couldn't even stay standing. I was wishing for a bunch of tomatoes to throw.
Halfway thru BadCo's set we were all hollering to bring Ted back.
