OK- my best and only option is a shift swap with one co-worker to be free Friday- if I can make that happen, I'll at least be able to ride all day and get my BRP fix, maybe up to and beyond Mount Pisgah. Watching the weather, on Friday around my area they're calling for 50% chance of rain. I'd be FINE with that, given how hellishly hot it's been. I find that riding in the rain, with all gear in place and working, on good tires and such, can be a very calm and relaxing experience. We shall see. Hopefully I can roll with Matthew Friday, have a little fun. |

Well. We're at the Skyline. We had a long, trafficy drive up from SC. Stopped by Yetees in Mill Springs, NC and picked up the t-shirts. Got up here about 3 PM. Got unloaded by about 4 and took the Uly out to ride the 226/226a loop. The roads are in great shape with only one nasty patch of gravel on 226a. We had a steak and salad on the deck along with a couple of nut brown ales from local brewery Blind Squirrel, followed up with a slice of strawberry pie. Ready to ride twisties all day tomorrow! Her's a view from our room tonight:

OK, I'm fielding another curveball- found out my stepdad's sister passed away yesterday. So, now I'm waiting to hear of the funeral plans, outside of Nashville, whether they'll be Wednesday or Thursday. If Wednesday, there's still a chance I can do my shift swap and ride Friday only, to be back Saturday at work... oh well. Glad to hear you and yours made it, Hugh, have fun buddy! |

Matthew- doesn't look like you're rolling anywhere near my place, dang! I can pretty much take the BRP all the way there from Cherokee NC, after I get over the mountain on TN/NC441... Oh well. You guys have fun, take lots of pics! |

It'll be next time, Fates willing. My Beemer is now the best BRP tool by far I've ever had... I guess I'll just wait til it cools off in a few weeks and do a ride. Every now and then my old buds at Smoky Mountain HD schedule a BRP ride up to/through Little Switzerland and back... maybe I'll roll with them if they do again. It's pretty dang fun to ride the '77 R75/7 out with their $20-30K hogs, knowing I've got around $2000 in my bike, and it's every bit as kewl as theirs if not more... |

In case any of you are interested in printing these out, I thought I'd post some local twisty routes: NC 226/226A, which starts at the hotel exit: Bear Wallow Road: https://goo.gl/maps/Sp86nUYtWwq Penland Road: https://goo.gl/maps/MFdxM4Bsjav NC80/Buck Creek Road/"Devil's Whip": https://goo.gl/maps/P3txmhV3Vum (All of NC-80 is good riding, but the southern section is exceptional.) NC-197: https://goo.gl/maps/bPfsPz62ThC2 Murder Mountain Mystery Ride: http://www.blueridgemotorcycling.com/ride-maps/mur der-mountain-run/ These are just some of the nearby routes I hit on almost every trip here. Ride times vary from ~30 minutes to a few hours. |
