May all of you have a safe and fun weekend. I will be celebrating another year here...my birthday's Saturday. However what i remember most about this weekend is what it is really about...remembering those who sacrificed their lives so we could enjoy the freedom..seeing the rows of American flags at cemeteries is a solemn reminder of all or those who are not with us. I'll admit i get that"knot in the throat' and "someone cutting an onion nearby" every time, but it reminds me of how honored i am to really care for all of those who aren't here and gave so much. You bet i'll be flying the symbol of our country this weekend even more now in spite of what's happening to our great country and what our....well i'll keep it clean....messed up gov't is doing to it and "we the people"...so may all of you have a fun and safe weekend but please take a moment to stop and "reflect/remember" on what it's really all about.LT

I thank every veteran I see with a handshake and expression of gratitude from myself and my family. It's the least I can do.

It's the very least that any of us can do.

Let me just take a moment to thank God that He placed every member of our nation's military here on Earth to protect us from our enemies, all the while performing the often thankless job of propping up smaller nations and putting in countless hours of effort while we sleep, eat and play.

Thank you to everyone here who has served our nation. I'm honored to be in your presence.

As a combat veteran, I appreciate all the thoughts for veterans on this day.
But, it is NOT about veterans, we have our day...

Today, is for ALL those people, military, public servants, civilians, that gave the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may be safe, and enjoy the freedoms, our forefathers created for us...

Memorial Day. Just for a moment slow down long enough to remember for a moment WHY this is a day of honoring those who died in service.

Sunny's great uncle John Swackhamer never made it home from France in 1918. His remains are interred in France in the Meusse-Argonne American Cemetery along with more than 14,000 of his brothers-in-arms. He was killed in battle in the last month of the "War to End All Wars"

The photo of him taken at the end of Basic hangs in our living room.
