Hillary did the smart thing by not spending money in a state that will likely vote Republican in the fall - just like she'll spend very little in Calif for the Nov election as it's in the bag for her. Most of her money will be targeted at swing states. Still, it's funny to see Sanders' people get their hopes up following this hollow victory.
Oh yeah, Trump Trump Trump (just to stay on topic)

When I went to the Troy Bayliss Classic in Taree, an Australian biker came up to me when he heard me speaking to Melia. He knew from my accent that I was a Yank and he wanted to tell me that he hoped Trump won.

He explained that he really liked the fact that the Donald wasn't afraid to not be politically correct, and that he wasn't pandering to people whose aim was to destroy America while milking all the benefits from the US that they could.

You're right, Alf. The world is watching. But not all the people of the world see Trump as a bad thing.

Still not a trump fan, but I'm even less of a Hillary fan. At least Trump is honest about the fact that he is an opportunistic %%^$$$$.

I'm not unhappy to see Cruz go. He was smart and qualified, but he was playing the same slimy partisan and manipulative game that democrats play, and I'm done with both of them.

And I see the Republican party as so broken, that dropping Trump into the middle of it, like dropping a skunk in through the sunroof of a car illegally blocking my driveway, is kind of appealing to me.

I think social conservatives are actually the ones that blew it for social conservatives. They should have been fighting tooth and nail to protect all rights for individuals, that included the ones they believe in as well as the ones they don't believe in. That would have protected their (our) individual rights.

The perfect example is gay marriage. Social Conservatives should have been fighting for consenting adult gays to have a right to a federal marriage, and arguing at the same time that religious institutions (and bakers and everyone else) should have the right to decide if they want to participate in that institution.

They argued the latter, but not the former, and when you do that you just come off as a controlling and intolerant @$$&^&@.

So that lost them the actual thoughtful individual rights crowd (pragmatic libertarians), it lost them most of the oblivious or emotionally driven moderates, and guaranteed they can never get a majority.

Just IMHO though.

Ok, seriously...Hillary ?
Trump may be a bit whacked but he may be enough to bring about change.
Wait, wasn't "change" the whole Obama chant?
Either way it's a cluster F.
Too much emphasis on one person when the entire gov't is the real problem.
To me, Clinton is just the same old crap multiplied. Follow the sheep-vote Hillary.
Or bring revolution closer-vote Trump.
I still can't believe that out of the huge field of better candidates, where down to these two.

You're argument is much like being on a sinking boat, refusing to turn on the pumps unless we all agree to also fix the leak. Certainly the leak needs fixing, but turning the pumps on might still be enough to save the boat.

IMO: Trump, and to a lesser extent Sanders, is a big middle finger to the establishment people who have been begging to get elected cycle after cycle, but do nothing to fix the big problems in between. They (both sides) seem more interested in holding power than progress. As an elected official you may not agree with the other side, but it's your job to work with them. That doesn't mean compromise away your principles, but work on what you actually can get done. and continue to use good solid discourse (mixed liberally with truth and common sense), to sway your colleagues to your position.

Dysfunctional is the best way to describe Washington right now. I think the electorate is tired of sending the same people back over and over and over and getting no results ( regardless of which sides result you actually are rooting for)

One thing that I hope will happen, is the election of Trump (or even Sanders) would force career politicians on both sides to start acting like statesman and actually address the serious issues facing our country. ACA tweaks(A repealer is unlikely, but it definitely isn't done), tort reform, immigration& border security, and the big elephants in the room, national debt, entitlement spending, unfair trading practices of our "partners" and tax policy.

I'm a single issue voter. I vote gun rights. I am well aware there are many other issues, with two sides each, and there are other champions for all of them. One day some other issue may rise to the fore for me. But for now, I cannot trust in a government that does not trust in me.
Shake your head at me if you will for my short sightedness, (I disagree, but that's a different thread for another day). It's my vote, I'll spend it any way I wish, and despite what you might think, it is NEVER wasted.

Career Politicians. That is what is wrong with the system right there. Term limits would really help. We will never see them though because career politicians will be voting to end their career. em all!

I kinda get that. But I also get the people that look at a 50 yard rip in the hull pouring in water, and refusing to fix the pumps because they are just wasting time that should be spent abandoning ship. Blow up the pump, engines, and just get it over with. Which is kind of what electing Trump could be doing.

The Supreme Court picks are what scare me the most. I guarantee you they will be going after the 2nd amendment if Hillary wins.

Everyone who even thinks about not voting should keep that very important thought in mind.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that made me think.

"Revolutions are not politically correct".

He may be a blowhard with zero manners and even less couth but at least he's not another politician. And I agree with mnscrounger - even though I live in the Republik der Marylanden - give law abiding citizens like me, my right to carry and bear arms. Let me protect what's mine. If someone threatens me or mine, allow me more choices than "let them get away with it".

And I daresay a businessman may be just what this (debt-ridden, clique-driven, incompetent) government needs. Turn a profit. What, you can't? You're fired. Make room for someone who can. Buh-bye.

Is he a perfect choice? Nope. But the way the system is these days...NONE of them are any good. Pick the least-evil and hope for the best. I'll take a rude blowhard over a politician - at least the blowhard tells you in no uncertain terms what he's thinking, so you know where you stand. And potentially there's the option to present a good business case for something, as a means to making changes. No lobbyists, no PACs. No sucking up for money. Potentially...he could make decisions for the sake of the actual ISSUE AT HAND.

Now THATS something new.

"Skunk through the skylight..."

Yes. Also agree on the gay marriage deal.

There are your rights to do as you wish. If you are not hurting others I am all for it. None of my business. The Wiccans creed applies nicely here. "Do as you will an it harm no other".

Insisting you have a right to force me to serve you? That should be far more limited. Say you want me to bake you a cake for your nambla party? I should be able to refuse. For any reason. If I'm the only cake baker in an unreasonable distance? We may be forced to compromise. Say I bake you nice cake and then you can put the cartoon on I may find offensive?

Hard cases make bad laws. I do not have to praise your desires.

Pwnzor. I favored Cruz myself. Didn't like him much but he was pro second amendment. Think he'd make a good Supreme court justice.

Hillary is still by far the greater evil. I know she would send armed troops to my home to steal my property and arrest me. Take my child away? Kill your cat while they trash your house looking for contraband?

I don't even think it improbable.

Btw.

I just had a new knee installed. Monday. I may be a bit cranky. Sorry if I come across more angry than usual.

I do agree on the skunk bit. The party needs to be changed. I suspect Cruz knew that while the apparatus may deny Donald the nomination they actually hate him worse. Big reason I favored Cruz.

You know a fellow by his haters.

Without the Second Amendment there will be no First, Third, Forth etc.

I was also a Cruz guy and I still think he would do the right thing, he's just such a poor speaker IMO. It's like he's preaching more than inspiring. I really wish he had taken the high road and just laughed at Trump. All he had to do is say, "Well that's Donald! He's always entertaining if nothing else!" Just totally disregard anything said about him and LAUGH! Thicker skin is an asset!

I believe Cruz will end up as Attorney General or on the Supreme Court. It would be awesome if that came about.

Will I vote for Trump? Duh! Never the Hildabeast!

Pwnzor, what are the odds your state will go d or r?

New York is solid D.... and I doubt the New York Guy can beat the Carpet Bagger based on who is really native. So, odds are my vote is just a protest vote.

Is it possible your vote may have real meaning?
