Will he accept the Presidential salary or donate it? Will he even live in the Whitehouse?? I mean.... is it luxurious enough ??

I don't know man, seeing the Trump family all living in the Whitehouse... he is gonna change everything there... all the routines... I wonder if he will add a live cam... or broadcast like Big Brother or have the oval office as the new celebrity apprentice board room. (when Arnold needs assistance)

Not to mention...Anonymous is now at war with Trump... gonna be some heads rolling somewhere...

I think Trump, if he becomes President, is in for a rude awakening when it comes to dealing with Congress and the federal bureaucracy. If he gets anything accomplished it will be an accomplishment.

Abolishing the irs was not a boneheaded thing to say. There are several federal agencies that don't need to exist at all. The irs, as we know it, would become one of them if a flat tax were to be instituted.

I hate the fact that he has press conferences and puts like 8 American flag behind him,.. like he in the WhiteHouse already... getting everyone used to it ...lol.

I freaking need to see more debates. Kasich needs to fold. I want to see 2-3 more debates with just Cruz and Trump. The past few were useless. If they don't do it, and Trump cry's like a baby and GETS the nomination... I agree with Trump, I bet there WILL be riots and probably a lot bigger than Mr. Trump anticipated.

I hate to say it, but Trump's best move right now is to act like the nominee and take on BO's legacy and Hillary in a full frontal assault. This leaves Cruz with the decision to follow suit, or try to tear down Trump.

Having said that, I would like to see at least one debate with only the front runners. I would like to see Trump vs. Cruz, head to head in at least one debate. Time to put some meat on the bumper sticker slogans. I seldom get what I want when it comes to politics.

If they do it (I sure hope so) he won't be able to cause as much a commotion/distraction with just Cruz, If he does, it will get old fast (which is why we should have more than one) and we can really see the true colors. I mean,... with all the speculation about him being a dem plant... he should. But.. the fact that he won't says something imho.

Trump is chicken,...
All we hear is his Trumpet.

To the united states treasury. The hordes of lawyers, accountants, and other 'tax experts' could be replaced by a few interns. Tax owed is 10% of line 1. Nothing to audit. Done.

While that sounds great it would cost me a couple of hundred thousand dollars. Which I don't have.

Many people have structured their lives around the complex tax code.

Plus the professional politicians really won't accept giving up their primary way to get bribes..... I mean run your life..... ok...both.

But Jeff, how do you get to what's on line one?

You own your own business, you have debt, you have expenses, you have capital improvements and inventory, you have receipts and expenses.

Most of the tax code is about figuring the value to go on your noted "line 1."

The only real solution I see to the corrupted, convoluted federal income tax code is to ditch it entirely in favor of a consumption tax on everything, no exceptions for anyone or any transaction, whether for goods, services, stocks, commodities, bonds, insurance, caskets, whatever.

But no more income or capital gains taxes.

Line 1 on the flat tax W2 would be your gross income, if I understand the process correctly. There are no deductions (well, depending on whose flat tax proposal you're referring to, and those are all standard deductions...no itemization). So there's nothing to figure out, no complex tax code to understand. 10% of gross.

There is a problem with taxing 10% of the gross income of a business. Just as an example, a friend of mine had the top Gibson guitar store for quite a while. We're talking about millions of income on line 1. Most of that goes right back into the store and inventory though. It's called expenses. 10% in taxes on those millions would be far more than what they ever had left over as personal income. So what goes on line 1?

And that would have shut down my friend's business. Many others too. It's far to complicated for such a simple solution on the income side. That's where a consumption tax starts to make sense.

I have one of the simplest tax returns. Not as simple as when I worked at McDonald's, but close. ( that was last century and could be next year )

I have a deduction for interest on a mortgage and some years energy-efficient deduction for improvement.

The other stuff, medical costs & such are usually minor.

Go to a zero deduction flat tax and I lose a couple hundred thousand dollars. And unless you reduce my tax load a Lot under the odd 55% I pay now I can't afford to work and live and will have to let you pay for my lifestyle.

Flat taxes, if you can pass them are for personal income. Not a business.

And the simple fact that folk like Donald and other rich folk bribe congress and the Glorious Leader to keep their taxes reasonable means a flat tax that affects them is not going to happen.

After all the populist rhetoric is to make the rich pay their fair share, right? The same rhetoric used by Bernie and the mass murder kings of the 20th century.

You can't afford to bribe Barry. He demands half a million cash just to talk to him. See his eternal money laundering website for details. No doubt he gets big kick backs on the deals he goes for like Solyndra and the billion buck Obamacare website. Hidden carefully from view. Of course.

And finally. Rich folk don't have a lot of income. Not in proportion to an average schlep like me. It's in the business. They have structured their lives that way since they started income tax.

Jeff,

Gross income? A business can have huge gross income while losing money, being unprofitable. Please think this through. What I said is true, the majority of the tax code is figuring out what the actual profit of a business concern is. No flat tax will change that. The tax code will remain a nightmare susceptible to congressional crony corporate corruption.

The only solution I see to that is a consumption tax on everything. No exceptions. As soon as exceptions are allowed, the crony corporate corruption is back in the game.

But Blake, the ability to change the tax rules is the number one source of power for a Congressman.

Sure the Sec State can start wars, so the VP's son makes money, make trade deals so those who Bribe her get super rich, and the President can ignore the law altogether and just give your money to those who bribe him.... (never mind the legality, Laws don't apply to Clintons & Obamas, the neuvo aristocracy )

But a Congressman has a much more limited scope of power and the tax code is #1.

"Jeff,

Gross income?"

I said I didn't know all the particulars about flat taxes for business, (I was talking about personal taxes, and how a flat tax would render most of the IRS unnecessary) proffered advice that you should google it if interested, and then provided a link to Ted's plan. What more can I do (that doesn't involve getting fired for goofing off all day on the Internet)?
