It's funny that most the world feels the US needs to stop being the world police, and when we abide, the outcry from "humanity" to do something feels hypocritical. Saudi Arabia has the capability and moral high ground (within their own religion and region) to step in. They have the power to form a regional coalition to put a leash on the dogs, even if that leash has 13 winding's. Where is the outrage and demand that someone that actually lives in that area, do something?
1313: That statement can be taken a couple ways depending on which word is the noun.
Airbozo, I agree the irony is huge. But not unexpected.
One of the pitches that Candidate Bernie makes is how nice it would be to have a Scandahoovian style Socialist Government.
And the people of Norway, Sweden, etc. actually do a fairly good job with their systems. There are pages of opinion on how/why they seem to make socialism work when is so many cases it's a monstrous death cult. Generally they were a culturally homogeneous people with life long education on their system of government, and it worked pretty good in the artificial world of a Pax Americana. ( where the American taxpayers supported the defense of Europe, freeing up a Lot of money for nice social programs )
Oh, and they have really nice social programs, well thought out by very smart people.
What a progressive can tell his captor if hostage to an ISIS killer:
“I always thought you guys were the varsity.”
“Bowe Bergdahl – American hero!”
“Didn’t I see you at a bunch of candlelight vigils after Bush invaded Iraq.”
“Are you a widow or an orphan?”
“But I have a COEXIST bumper sticker on my Prius.”
“I always refer to the Fort Hood attacks as ‘workplace violence.’”
“I had nothing to do with that vile video ‘Innocence of Muslims.’”
“During the Pats-Bills football game Monday night, I talked through the moment of silence for Ezra Schwartz.”
“But I always say ‘Happy Holidays’ instead of ‘Merry Christmas.’”
“You can’t shoot me — I follow Stephen Colbert on Twitter.”
“I used to buy my weed from Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.”
“Please, let me show you what I’ve said on my Facebook page about Donald Trump.”
“I work for NASA – ask me about our Muslim outreach program!”
“But I defended Clock Boy!”
“At Town Meeting, I supported a Muslim prayer room at the local elementary school.”
“I am a card-carrying member of the ACLU.”
“I used to listen to Mumia Abu-Jamal’s commentaries on ‘All Things Considered.’ Look at this umbrella – I’m an NPR underwriter.”
“Back off – this is my safe space!”
“If you like your caliphate, you can keep your caliphate.”
“I have a suicide vest too – it’s fleece-lined, from L.L. Bean.”
“I have never drawn a cartoon of the Prophet.”
“Perhaps you don’t see the sign, Mohammed – this is a gun-free zone.”
“But I gave all three of my wives burqas for Eid.”
“I never much liked Paris anyway.”
“You can’t shoot me – this is a Starbucks red cup.”
“I signed an online petition to change the name of the Redskins.”
“Please let me go – I’m on my way to the conference on climate change that is causing all you Muslims to become terrorists – er, freedom fighters.”
“On Thanksgiving, I always remember our ‘Muslim founding fathers,’ as our wonderful President Obama described them in Cairo. My favorite is Osama bin Franklin.”
“#InfidelLivesMatter.”
“Please, I’m not your enemy. I work for a non-profit.”
“I just blogged the other day demanding Israel return to its pre-1967 borders – I even have a map with ‘Palestine’ on my Facebook page.”
“Hey pal, don’t get mad at me – I’m an atheist.”
“Hands up – don’t shoot!”
“I maxed out to Mayor de Blasio – you can thank me for the fact that the NYPD didn’t stop ‘n’ frisk you on your way to the airport this morning.”
Rt news, thus unreliable. However, unreliable does not mean wrong.. ( unlike, say, the current & D President & decreed Candidate, who reliably lie )
From an American perspective, it's credible that Europeans can expect a backlash to the invasion of Europe. That it be badly focused, violent, ineffective, and not have the intended result is typical.
Remember, WW1 got kicked off by a Serbian separatist who wanted his people freed from oppression. That's not what resulted. Arguably his action delayed his cause for decades.
File this in your "Europeans are war prone idiots" file, and vow not to follow their lead.
For nearly a quarter-century, our bipartisan governing class has labored mightily to suppress public discussion of the undeniable nexus between Islamic doctrine and terrorism. Consequently, many Americans are still in the dark about sharia, classical Islam’s societal framework and legal code. We should long ago have recognized sharia as the bright line that separates authentic Muslim moderates, hungry for the West’s culture of reason and individual liberty, from Islamic supremacists, resistant to Western assimilation and insistent on incremental accommodation of Muslim law and mores.
The Problem isn't Christians, it's those few Christians that will kill you in accordance with the Bible, if you wear a wool linen blend.
Since I haven't heard of such a thing in my lifetime, PLEASE correct me on that, I'm not worried. I am more than willing to confront Christians about sticking their nose in other people's business. I'm also more than willing to do so for Satanists, Wiccans, etc. And have.
Islam, OTOH, has a SEVERE problem with people that Obey the Holy Book. Telling me I shouldn't eat shellfish, or condemning me for having sex out of wedlock, ( as a Christian Might do ) I can deal with.
Killing people for not Obeying the Manual from an OCD pre-medieval warlord? Not acceptable. I can't just ignore or mock people that are murdering gays and running slave brothels. Now. Today.
The Pentagon’s inspector general is probing reports that Defense Intelligence Agency analysts who described ISIS’s threat as grave and robust were told to “cut it out” and “toe the line.” E-mails to that effect may have been destroyed in order to cover up this apparent undercooking of the books.
The portrait of Raqqa is familiar and yet horrifying in new detail — schools closed and children brainwashed into becoming suicide bombers, women slashed in the street if their veil shows too much of their eyes, Yazidi women “just traded from man to man in ISIS, sold, raped, abandoned.”
This view aligns with the Muslims that I know. None of them eat pork, but they all drink and show no interest in violence. One of them is from Syria. He fled the corrupt and violent government there for the promise of America. He fears for the safety of the family he left behind. I hope we can separate the wheat from the chaff, but I don't suspect we can.
The San Bernardino male murderer wasn't "obedient" until he went overseas and got trained. That's the family's story. I have doubts.
We are going to have more shootings, more drive through crowds mass murder attempts ( almost never mentioned but has been going on a while. First I recall was 2002. ) and more bombs. No doubt at all.
I also have no doubt that this Administration will blame Americans, use them as excuses to take our civil rights, and preach poison while warning against a backlash. So far the only backlash attack I recall was that idiot who murdered a Sikh.
In case you don't know.
Cool turban = Sikh = good guy. Tea towel & headband could be muslim. Or cosplay, or bad hair day.
Don't jump to conclusions. But when the guy in the mall seems to be yelling about Admiral Ackbar while killing people, don't assume he hates George Lucas.
A new study by Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University found that of the 452 suicide attacks it tallied last year, 450 were carried out by Muslims.
The Times of Israel reported:
Of course, we cannot avoid mentioning the religious element as the most significant factor that motivates the suicide terrorists throughout the world. Here’s the most dramatic statistic: 450 of 452 suicide terror attacks in 2015 were perpetrated by Muslim extremists. One of the remaining two attacks was carried out by the Kurdish underground. The other was perpetrated by a woman supporter of a leftist group in Turkey.
Even the attack in Turkey initially attributed to a “leftist group” may actually also have been carried out by a Muslim. According to media reports, police were investigating if the perpetrator was a Russian woman “radicalized by Wahhabi ideology.” If that turns out to be the case, that would mean 451 of the 452 attacks were perpetrated by Muslim extremists.
