While I'm not a huge Trump fan, I'm more and more convinced he will be our next President. Why? He can say pretty much anything and people back him up. Hillary used to have this, but it's begun to wear thin.

It's funny that Trump has made his place in this campaign by being willing to say the non-PC things that most of us can simply see as truth. Then a funny thing happened in this last debate. Cruz made a statement about NY values, and further backed it by saying that not many conservatives come out of Manhattan. Suddenly Trump is offended by that generalization. Suddenly Trump plays the PC card and it works for him. Trump is the fresh face of politics who can say anything and have it work for him. Does anyone really think Cruz was wrong about conservatives and Manhattan? The question though shouldn't be about a generalization. The question should be about the individual. The individual in question is Trump. Or should I just say President Trump?

Cruz blew it with his New York values comment. I know several New York City Conservatives. Badweb knows one too.

He did, even though he was right. It was a correct generalization. This is the problem with aiming a generalization at an individual. He may have been right about the individual too. Still, his point was negated by PC offense. I hope you can at least see that irony.

Not all Muslims are terrorists.

Not all New Yorkers are progressive.

However.

The Governor of New York invited all conservatives. ... actually anyone who doesn't agree with His Imperial Majesty to leave. ( it is the Empire state )

That's not a joke. Cuomo told anyone who's not onboard with his views to leave the state. He feels there's no place for dissent in his glorious paradise with unlimited bribe potential.

Today he mocks Cruz for speaking the truth. The official ideology of New York is corruption on a massive scale with contempt for the peasants not donating to the Governor's campaign fund..

I admit New York is number two in corruption. Illinois has sent many more legislature members and better yet, Governor's, to prison. We have not yet succeeded in getting one Governor indicted. One actual convicted head of the legislature took a fraction of the bribes from just one law firm compared to Andrew Cuomo. A court just announced that Cuomo didn't break the law when he dissolved the ethics committee he created when they started to target some of the folk who gave the Governor massive bribes.

So please show me Cruz's error. Reference & link, please. That differs from the official position of New York's Leadership.

Just as you can say my first statement above is inaccurate according to ISIS. Who will quote the verses from their Holy Book making the murder of all those who refuse the Will of The Prophet mandatory.

Reindog, arguably any conservative in New York is disobeying the stated will of the Governor. They were told to leave.

Then again, Obama told us repeatedly that not allowing refugees from his wars into the country is "not who we are".

Since Obama's "we" is deliberately undefined...... he means it to be interpreted as "all Americans" while internally thinking "loyal anti American neo Marxists", you can argue he's right. You can also argue six year olds should be prosecuted for weapons charges when they chew a poptart into a "L" shape. In either case you earn my contempt.

The moment Trump brought up 9/11 after cruz's factual statement about conservatives in NYC, ...he pretty much lost my vote. Why did he even have to bring that up?? It was very Democrat or liberal like move. Cruz was correct. Everybody knows that. I think Trump will withdraw as candidate at last minute. I'm still not sure why he is running.

One paranoid theory is Trump is a shill for Jeb. By destroying the competition, leaving Jeb's hands relatively free of dirty work, Trump gives Jeb the nomination, after some improbable blah blah blah.

Another is Donald is a Shill for Hillary, taking out all the exciting candidates and leaving the field to Republican Establishment types the conservatives won't vote for out of protest. ( actually it's the SAME paranoid theory, with extra sauce )

I don't suggest either of the above is true. I don't know what's going to happen. There's a LOT of money and a LOT of people with the full range of morality and rationality playing this game.

None of them appear particularly smart.

We deserve better leaders.

At this point . . . we're pretty much down to deciding which character flaws we're will to tolerate.

We are finding ourselves having to become more and more tolerant.

It's good that you haven't seen the perfect candidate. It shows you have at least one active brain cell.

You probably are.

In the past . . . we've squabble about ideology and how various folks, based on political perspectives, might handle various challenges.

Presently . . . it seems we are choosing between a host of patently unqualified, tired, recycled and incompetent folks who's character maladies range from simple arrogance to likely criminal activity.

I'd fire ANY of the current crop of candidates, republican and democrat, if they worked for me.

I think the sad fact is that only people we do not want in charge want to run for office. By definition you have to be power hungry, ego maniacs. No on that isn't those things wants anything to do with politics.

There used to be a time where it was about civil service, about actually thinking you can do something good for the people of the country. That time has long since passed.

I think the biggest problem we have is the way we view these elected folks. Somewhere along the line in the short history of this country, we allowed them to be viewed as our leaders. They are supposed to be our representatives. Until we (as a country) wake up and demand our will on these representatives, we will be lead down the path to our own destruction.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are sitting in a bar.
A guy walks in and asks the barman, 'Isn't that Trump and Cruz sitting over there?' The bartender says, 'Yep, that's them.'
So the guy walks over and says, 'Wow, this is a real honor! What are you guys doing in here?'
Cruz says, 'We're planning WW III.' The guy says, 'Really? What's going to happen?'
Trump says, 'Well, we're going to kill 140 million Muslims and one blonde with big tits.'
The guy exclaimed, 'A blonde with big tits? Why kill a blonde with big tits?'
Trump turns to Cruz and says, 'See, I told you, no one gives a shit about the 140 million Muslims.

Somewhere along the line in the short history of this country, we allowed them to be viewed as our leaders. They are supposed to be our representatives.

This is a very good point, and something that I was just thinking about a few days ago.

Somehow, the subject of gun control came up, as did Obummer's (over)use of executive orders to basically control the direction of the country.

My significant and I believe extremely strong point in that regard was that if the country wanted significant legislative changes, they would elect representatives that would make that happen...ya know, the way it's supposed to work if you, as a civil society, want change. Instead, you have a president who singularly believes he knows what is best for this country and he couldn't be further from correct.
This country was founded on the basis that no single person should ever have the power or authority to legislate or control the people on his own. It's a damn shame that the current residents of this country don't give a damn about history, and don't have the gumption, will, or wherewithal to even show up to vote in elections en mass. There are so many negative ends to this totalitarian behavior - I see zero positive.

3. And it should. For instance, when people say “blue-state values,” they mean something pretty specific. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t people with “red-state values” in blue states and vice versa. Adam Baldwin lives in Santa Monica, I’m pretty sure. And he’s a conservative. That doesn’t mean there’s no basis whatsoever to speak of “Santa Monica values.” When we speak about large things (I mean in terms of concepts, not things like André the Giant’s liver or Barack Obama’s ego), we of necessity simplify them. Without doing so we are left with all noise and no signal, or what William James called “one great blooming, buzzing confusion.”

4. I was actually quite surprised that Cruz — who knew Trump’s answer was coming, since he already gave it earlier in the day — didn’t have a good comeback. I’m not sure what he could have said that would have worked, but he could have acknowledged that there are plenty of hard-working, decent, conservative — and liberal — people in New York, and then added something like, “There’s a reason why Hillary Clinton ran for the Senate as a New York carpetbagger instead of from Arkansas. There’s a reason why Bill de Blasio, a man to the left of Bernie Sanders, is the mayor of New York. There’s a reason why you can’t buy a gun in New York City.” Instead, Cruz was left lamely applauding Trump’s tribute to 9/11 first-responders. If he was unprepared to push back, he shouldn’t have leveled this line of attack in the first place.

This country was founded on
Stealing it from the natives.
Democracy was invented in Great Briton.
Terrorism was invented in America by USA founding fathers and continues to flourish today while airheads are allowed to tote guns.

Thanks for clearing that up, I mistakenly thought it was much older.
