This is the first such sentiment I've heard from anyone. |

It's bits and pieces of the previous ones, especially New Hope. All this time and all we get are repackaged left overs. Like re-heated tater tots. But I still love Christmas. |

I agree that TFA is refried beans but BB8 is totally cool. |

I was pretty disappointed. Several instances of blatant foreshadowing. It's supposed to be subtle...it wasn't. And the planet gun? Please, even in a space fantasy, it beggars belief. Suck up all the stellar matter from a star and store it in a tiny little planet. Oh, and gravity on the planet doesn't change either. Complete crap. They should have simply had an unmentioned power source buried somewhere and left it at that. I know it's fantasy but leave the fantasy part the force and leave the rest up to our imagination. Storing a sun in a planet is just stupid. Why didn't they consult me? |

But a Death Star is plausible? |

I liked it. Nothing in the saga has been subtle. Most any action/sci fi movies can be torn apart for massive ignorance of simple universal laws/physics. To make it more palatable I like to assume that with great technological advances came solutions of some sort. It was a massive improvement over the prequels. Perhaps that isn't saying much. That said it was exciting and entertaining. |

Death Star plausible? Sure. It's a thing. Just takes time and materials to build one. Nothing special about it. Had a big gun that wasn't powered by stellar matter too. We don't know exactly what powered it because they left it to my imagination instead of making up a perfectly impossible source. |

Frankly, I wasn't thrilled, but that's been my feeling on most of the Star Wars movies This felt like a mix of the 1st and 2nd movies - a young, untrained youth on a desert planet, no family, but some skills and a strong affinity for the force. A father-son conflict with a very predictable outcome. Cute little robot that can't speak english that needs help to save the galaxy you've got the mega empire versus the struggling rebels, who still have the same weapons they had 35 years ago the battle scenes are fun, but not really better then the original movies, which actually had bigger fleets you also don't have the coalition you had previously overhyped, as expected (Message edited by sprintst on December 25, 2015) |

A lot of repeating themes and similar scenes, but then again, history repeats itself and I think that is a message for the ages. Found it entertaining myself. As far as applying science in science fiction, it seems space movies always bend the laws of physics, if you don't take it too seriously you can just write those aspects off. Always find space sound effects interesting (there is no sound in space), also always find it interesting when a space vehicle uses wings or tilts and goes adrift when hit by something. None of the "challenged" science bothers me as much as using 2 stroke motorcycle sound tracks for 4 stroke bikes and vise-vers. I believe this had to be a running joke with sound studies (it is way too common), seems they would not mess around with Harley sounds (probably would be too apparent). |

I thought it was a repeat of the first Star Wars movie. Should have waited for it to come out on DVD |

The critics and general public like it. Even Rotten Tomatoes rates it a 95%. Maybe its a generational thing? |

"What movie isn't a waste of time?" I get the rhetorical ? but... Raising Arizona? Blazing Saddles? Spaceballs? The Princess Bride? (just comedies, many other genres could be mined for this argument) One could argue the same about books, but SO many books AND movies inform and entertain us in ways that would leave our lives less full had we missed them. |

Anything can be called a waste of time when you compare it to something more worthwhile. However, this is totally subjective. Court didn't like the movie. I say he's not really a Star Wars fan. That's just my opinion. |

I'd give it a solid OK. It wasn't bad. Watched without knowledge of the other episodes it would just be OK but slightly confusing WRT the family lines but OK anyway. With knowledge of the other episodes it's still just OK because they chose to remake a few too many scenes for no apparent reason aside from taking up some screen time. A few were humorous but most were just "Where have I seen this before?" Oh yeah... In Star Wars 1.0... Good thing they made a Star Wars 2.0 so I could see it again a little clearer... Meh... Just OK. |

I thought Star Wars was a nice waste of time. The part of it I *really* liked was just watching the ships. They finally moved like they were real, and I could watch that all day long, the same way I could watch flyby videos of A-10's and F-16's all day long. Except the instant hyperspace cross the galaxy stuff. That was too much. |

Just caught it at the RDX in Syracuse, 3d. Good. "Just ok" is a fair shot, "waste of time"? Better than that. I've been ignoring the hype, not reading reviews, and generally not being a geek about it. "meh, I said to myself, ignore then go enjoy." Crowded theater, tight seats, I found the 3D slightly obtrusive, and my Butt Hurt. other than that, a good set up for the next movie. Feel free to unleash your inner geek and enjoy the movie. BTW, "Ant Man" ( which I missed in theaters and bought on dvd ) is surprisingly good. 2 "after credits" Marvel teasers. And "Age Of Ultron" was darn good, holds up well on second & third viewings. Looking forward to "Captain America-Civil War". |

Well I just got back from the theater. I liked it. IMHO it was as good as the rest of them, all of which I have enjoyed watching. This one we had the help of two of our youngest grandchildren with us, and with four other family members. All liked it. One thing that once seen elsewhere that cannot be put back in the box for me, that I could have seen it being used in this series of 'Star Wars movie lines, is the prospect of size and dimension used in the 'Men In Black' movies. The idea of a Universe being so vast and everything being of the same size scale everywhere in the universe has made all of these previously great story lines missing what I feel could be a powerful element to the story line. To me it seems only three dimensional, could have been four. When I was a teen I used to ponder ideas like those. I envisioned our planet being a little dust particle on a fuzz ball, in a closet, in a house, in a neighborhood, in a county, in a state, in a country, on a continent, on a planet, and so on. My question being "how small are we?" in the scheme of all things. |
