With all the recent (in the last 5 years) turmoil over the closing of Buell Motorcycle Co., and the hostile actions of Hero which put EBR into bankruptcy, I started wondering what I would be riding if Erik had never started making motorcycles with his name on them. In 84, I was in lust with the HD XR1000,
A couple of years later I was working at a Harley Dealership, and fell in love with the FXRT, still one of the best (for me) bikes I've ever ridden.
About the time I bought my Cyclone, I had other bikes on my list... A bagger for the long trips I love to take.
Something really sexy,
And something on the dark side,
I sure am glad Erik did indeed design and sell motorcycles, and I hope he will again... |

FXRT is on my list of future bikes. If not for Buell, maybe a Ducati, or something similar. I actually really like the looks of the new R1 as well. |

Been riding this for about 7 years now. Faithful, reliable, fun.

I looked real hard at an Elefant many moons ago... I tend to gravitate towards pre-'90's bikes- as the years progressed, there became fewer and fewer interesting designs. Yamaha is my favorite brand of rice, and a Ghezzi-Brian Goose is PURE sex. So far I've really grown to love my '02 Triumph Sprint ST. I find myself comparing it to the Buell CityX I had... the Buell had better suspension and handling, but the Sprint has a killer motor with ST capabilities. There have been many great, different bikes from Triumph that beat back my 90's and newer prejudices. Also, gotta say I love my old '77 R75/7. An old airhead Beemer of any vintage is a timeless classic. |

Also, gotta say I love my old '77 R75/7. An old airhead Beemer of any vintage is a timeless classic. My dad had a 1960 R69 I wish I had bought from him but the garage was full! That Cagiva Gran Canyon was a wonderful bike for short trips. It rode great and handled very well. The duck motor was in attack mode at all times. It was a lot of fun but was a lot of work it seemed. The seat to peg relationship was horrible for my grasshopper legs. My first ride on the Uly seemed so effortless and relaxing and I could ride a lot longer than two hours! |

Either a Monster or a Speed Triple. I have never owned or had any interest in a Harley. Ignoring the Buell debacle, they just aren't my thing. |

I've got a 2000 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird in the garage right now, restoring it for my coworker. Of course, I will have to test ride it for safety purposes. |

The Ultra Classic for long trips is a pretty much given, really glad I bought one even though it needs tons of work. I probably would have bought a touring machine back them, I was looking for either full on touring, or full on racing and the racing won with my XB9R. Right now I have both sides and hope I can continue to keep the XB running. I will almost definitely build a cafe in the future, just not sure if it will be something like a Suzuki S40 (Savage) or a Sporty that becomes the donor vehicle. I'm draw to the sporty for the same reason I'm drawn to the Ultra Classic, parts should be available for a very long time (especially in carbureted form). |

Matthew! Someone local seems to be giving away one of those- a buddy, sadly passed on a few years back, once said that was one of his favorite bikes! http://knoxville.craigslist.org/mcy/5363350259.htm l |

My newest is a Victory Cross Country Tour, the suspension on my Uly has spoiled me from HD touring bikes. |

Dodge little red express truck. Or a Sv. FXRS. Or a Bonneville. But I have no plans to ever buy another motorcycle. I'll sell the Cyclone if I get too crippled to ride..... and it's been close. But I'm getting new ti parts installed next spring, so it might be a while. |

Fuzzz. I sold my XR1000 and bought 2 Buells around 2000. Cool motorcycle and it falls into the "wish I would have kept it" bucket. I'll ride on of my Buells. DAve (Message edited by DAve on December 18, 2015) |

Nilla- I grew up a Suzook kid... every time I see/hear a TL, especially with a pipe, DANG they sound awesome! Always wanted a GTS1000 Yamaha too, and another RZ350, and maybe a grey market RZV500, and... oh well. My next bike will be a D/S of some sort, hopefully with the wheels/sprockets to go either off road or street hooligan... or a decent, cheap convertible. |

If it has wheels, I'm going to want to ride it! Over the past 10 years I've had: 3 X1's 1 S1W 1. Xb12s 1. Xb12ss 1 xb12x 2. 1125r 1 1190sx Accompanying those bikes have been 2 triumph Daytona 955i Triumph legend R1100rt R1100gs R1150r R1200st K1200rs 610 te dual sport 2 dr350's Rd350 Suzuki honcho Kawi k5 04 636 07 zx6r F4i Super hawk Drz400s Vulcan 750 Virago Electra glide It's been a fun ride. And I've got a lot more riding to do. |

Since my Buell has been busted I've be getting around on this: 20150504_132418 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr It's a bit soft and wallowy, but is its own kinda fun. With some simple (and cheap) tuning tricks it goes decently well. If I was to get something else it would be a full blown frame up street tracker build. |

If I hadn't wandered into a Harley shop trying to sell my powder coating business I probably would have stayed with Guzzi and maybe branched out into Aprilia, Ducati and Triumph. I never would have considered a Buell due to the motor and my anti-Harley bias. As it turned out, I'll finish up on Buells and Triumph triples. |

I'm craving a KTM 690 Super Duke. I won't buy one because this time next year I will have graduated and be purchasing an EBR or whatever Bruce has decided for a name. Heck, I might buy two so I can get back into racing... |

If I wasn't on the XT I'm sure I'd be on some plain jane bike like a Honda Shadow. Now a days, I'm jonsing for a big touring bike. I really like the Victory Cross Country Touring bike. Recently I butt tested a Gold Wing and wow was it nice. Pricy, but nice. I do like the built in nav system and the CCT doesn't have that. |

first - love the hostility towards Hero at the start, OF COURSE all of this is because of them [/sarcasm] secondly - good post/thread, as it'll be something that will come up soon in my life (next 16 months) Sportser is very likely VRod interests me FXR Ducati monster a dualsport of some sort these are all things that have caught my attention oer the years and I could see owning in the near future. Ask me in a few more years and it'll be Electra Glide lol |

"Probably a boring Honda." Ha- I'm witcha, MOST latter day Hondas bore me. Funny enough, what most peeps would call a super-boring bike was one of my faves in the past, a Pacific Coast PC800. Had the first year, pearl white 2 tone paint, easily the prettiest... it did about everything you'd want a bike to do, even handled pretty nice. I'd grab another in a heartbeat. Honda's eternal VFR series can't be called boring... nor can the RCV V-twin racer, and a lot of folks liked the SuperChicken. |

When I was shopping for my X1 in 2000, It was between Suzuki bandit1200, and Kawasaki ZRX1100. I had already given up with wanting a sportster. They were trying to get $7500 for XLH883! Things in the future I'm thinking of: I want to dual-sport my old KLX250 but I read that my state is a pile of crap to title something like that. I will probably get a smaller dual sport. I've been looking through craigslist and they are all stupid overpriced. Like $2000 for a 20 year old KLR250!? XT350 seem to be rare and old Suzuk DR bikes seem to have been flawed so they are all "needs engine" or whatever. |
